  1. Too bad this wasn't the year we had Halak to trade
  2. That's a bold statement haha. He's only been on the team for 1 year and quietly went about his business. There has to be more to it, like did he used to date your wife or something?
  3. Ugh, I can't imagine us taking that albatross of their hands. They would have to throw in something pretty damn good along with it...
  4. Reasonable compared to what his actual value is in my opinion. Remember, the Sharks have had nothing but disappointment in the last decade and that culminated in a rare playoff miss. Add on to that the riff between Jumbo and Wilson towards the end of the season, and the demotion of his Captaincy at the start of the season. I don't think it's outrageous to think that they might just want to deal him to move on from the situation. Now it's up to Jumbo whether or not he wants to continue to weather the storm in San Jose, or move on from it as well. This could be a case of moving quantity for quality. Nothing wrong with a package of Eller, Emelin and a 1st or something like that.
  5. That's the deal that I would like to see as well. Finally get a legit center to end all the discussion, help on the PP and might possibly be had for a reasonable price.
  6. Some interesting debate about this topic but I put the odds of actually landing him at less than 5%. There are far too many moving pieces that would have to be involved to make it work and I can't see these two rivals engineering a blockbuster like that. The Leafs have to take back close to equal salary and will want picks/prospects, so unless MB can work some magic involving Parenteau, it's not going to happen. And even then, the long term implications may be far too much to withstand.
  7. I'd look at other cost saving measures before trading Prust. There really isn't anyone that does what he does in the lineup. He is the first guy to drop the gloves and seems to be loved in the dressing room.
  8. Because 10 player deals happen all the time. Especially for a young 1st overall and 4th overall pick and sending out over 10 million more in salary than what's coming back. I swear some people are delusional when it comes to trades. Just because they like a certain player doesn't mean they are getting traded, and if they don't, it doesn't mean our GM isn't trying. There isn't a magic wand that can be waved Edit: just noticed it's my 1000th post
  9. I think most Habs fans have had visions of Galchenyuk ripping it up. In fact you could argue that he is fact doing well. He is the leading scorer thus far of his draft class and made the NHL at 18 despite missing pretty much his whole last year of junior. His teammates all know, we know and he knows how good he can be. As long as he stays dedicated and focused, he will be a star with the Habs for years. I don't think he needs to be a top 5 or 10 in the league to be a valuable player The Habs are a young team that needs to take the next step. They could definitely benefit from having a player like Plekanec.
  10. You predicted the favorite to win the series, I am in awe of your prognosticating skills. Tell us more Nostradamus
  11. Congratulations for predicting the outcome of a series that was over halfway completed.
  12. Yeah I've seen plenty of Sprong live and haven't been impressed
  13. Are those numbers confirmed by reports or just pulled out of thin air? I know that I wasn't involved in the negotiating process so I can't comment on what salary and term were discussed, or what each side wanted. Also, MB didn't try to negotiate with a Norris winning RFA, that happened prior to him winning the award. At the time P.K had only put up 38 and 36 points in a season, wasn't liked or respected around the league, needed work on his defensive game and really hadn't proven that much to receive such a contract. It's easy in hindsight to see he was a superstar in the making, but personally I'd rather a GM not gamble on potential by handing out massive long term contracts.
  14. You are saying this like it's a bad thing. A coach that tries to win every game.
  15. I think Galchenyuk, a roster player and some high draft picks is a fair deal for both sides. Can you imagine Malkin wearing the CH? What a force this team would be.
  16. I think Emelin still has value despite his contract. However I am of the belief that he is gradually getting beat up worse and worse out there and it would be a smart to move him before too late. On his own, I'd say he'd fetch a player with a similar contract who isn't performing as expected, like a Louie Erikson or Berglund. Perhaps a team with space can afford to take him for a decent draft pick or prospect.
  17. Back checking and beer league don't belong in the same sentence. Unless that sentence is "man, I don't do any back checking in my beer league "
  18. You do realize Tinordi and Beaulieu are both left handed and play the left side right? This signing has nothing to do with keeping them out of the lineup.I like the deal but am a bit worried since I've only seen him the short time with the Habs. Hoping it's not a guy playing over his head during his UFA year
  19. I like Kovalev as much as the next guy, but he didn't look very good out there.....a few years ago......he is 42 now, safe to say he hasn't improved since then
  20. Two ways to look at that deal, but the result is a bad trade for the Habs IMO Price = Tavares, Pacioretty > Halak Price > Halak, Tavares > Pacioretty
  21. Hopefully the cap savings he created last year will result in being able to swoop in and make a deal with a team that is up against the cap.
