Andrei Markov tribute thread - officially not back
kaos replied to JoeLassister's topic in Habs & Hockey Talk
Good luck winning the Gagarin cup in the KHL and having a few more Rubles in your pocket Andrei. -
Fact 1. Habs couldn't score against Rangers in 2017 playoffs. 2. Habs struggled to move the puck out of their zone transitioning from dmen to forwards. 3. Habs centre position ranking is bottom 5 in the league? Definitely bottom 10. 4. Habs have not addressed #1. Yes they brought in Drouin, but allowed Radulov to leave. 5. Habs have not addressed #2 and still do not have a reliable puck rushing dman. Which means Julien has to continue with failed theory of having dmen chip puck off boards and hoping forwards can recovery and transition to offence. This flies in the face of letting one of your best possession players walk and your centermen are shit. 6.) Habs still have a good, mostly young forward core; Galchenyuk, Lehkonen, Drouin, Byron, Gallagher, Pacioretty. 7. Goalie is elite

Markov wasn't the same player after his knee surgeries as he was before. Same as Emelin.

Oilers can afford to part with Draisaitl more than the Islanders with Tavares
-
That's why it says draft pick compensation. Fully realize it could be a 1st. Maybe even a 1st and 2nd. I don't think the oilers would wanna take on even more salary with Gallagher but if they did I'd certainly add him.

Montreal Draisaitl RFA Klefbom $4.2 M Edmonton Weber $8 M Galchenyuk RFA Draft pick compensation for increase salary

The will have a snowballing effect on the entire Canadians roster. Montreal depth at centre will be exposed. It's not unreasonable to expect to see Danault regress now that his wingers won't be Radulov and Pacioretty. Right wing doesn't look as fearsome with Gallagher, Byron/Shaw & Hemsky vs Radulov, Gallagher, Byron/Shaw. They are putting massive amount of pressure on Lehkonen, Gallagher, Byron and Drouin to step up their games since they have to make up 18 goals and 30+ assists.
-
Nope. That was the tipping point. If fire him for all the other jackass stuff he's done or hasn't done
-
Ok. I'll jump onboard. Hemsky in, Radulov out? WTF? Fire the asshole
-
Pretty sure none of them had serious knee problems either

Ages 36-38 are gonna suck

Signing Alzner Signs With Montreal

Expect the unexpected.....f##k If rather have Markov at $5 or $5.5M -
Sportnet reporting Habs asked if Methot would waive his no trade clause. He said no
-
"...to be drafted to an organization like Toron.....er Montreal...is just an honor...." Doh

Be interesting to see if Vegas picked Emelin because they already have a deal worked out with another team for him
-
Another 3rd or 4th line winger?
-
Biggest need is a #1 Centre. Or even a very good #2. Next biggest need is a solid puck moving LH defenceman to play with Weber. How Bergevin goes about doing this is the real question/concern.

We really need to fix our development problems

How the #### do you only get A 3rd Round pick? -
Bergevin must have a deal in place with Vegas for Plekanec or possibly Emelin to clear up cap space. Otherwise one of Galchenyuk or Radulov will not be back. If Galchenyuk is to be traded and Plekanec is gone, Bergy must bring in a centre. There is no guarantee Drouin can fill the centre role. What use would it be to bring in a top dman in trade when you still have glaring holes a centre? If Galchenyuk is traded, it's reasonable to assume Drouin can score ~25 goals but you now lost Galchenyuks ~25 goals. Is it fair to ask Gallagher and Lehkonen to up their goal totals to make the offence that's required? Especially without a legit centre? Clearly the defense needs a puck moving dman. How does that get addressed? So many questions. Should be an exciting next few days.
