  1. i gave this about 20 seconds of thought - and i can't think of a better way to 'Halak-ify' a stop sign without vandalizing it. if i were driving by, i would find a Halak stop sign to be wonderfully hilarious.
  2. I was hoping u would! I've added to my fb and my son & I are walking all over the place saying 'Halaaaaaaaaak' to each other!
  3. i voted for Subban's icetime - but - i also think the 0 giveaways are HUGE! blocked shots & save percentage could mean u never had the puck, Camm & Gionta scoring could mean u lack scoring depth, 5-0 in elimination games is the result of something else going very well, and most crucial to me (after finding an incredible Markov replacement in Subban, without whom we aren't playing in round 3) is stats that show how alert & disciplined this team is playing like ZERO giveaways. incroyable!
  4. honestly - i don't think they even noticed the Habs' fans booing or the non-calls. too busy trying to figure out why the ref blows the whistle when every time a player crosses the blue line before the puck crosses it ... 'it's an off-what???'
  5. it was SOOOO fun being at a local sports bar tonight wearing the bleu, blanc, rouge!!!! especially given that i live not so far from Pittsburgh & i (& my son) were the only Habs fans in the place! GO HABS GO!!! KEEP THE FAITH!!!!
  6. how about when Rod Langway was traded to Washington?
  7. i know one thing i've seen already this season, that i haven't seen in Montreal for a long time - was the way Montreal stood up for themselves against Atlanta. seeing players defend Bergeron & seeing Gomez defend himself. i don't see this team as being mediocre at all. they may not be the favourite to win the cup any time in the next 5 years - but - i think they will be in the discussion every one of those 5 years. to me, the difference between the Habs being good and great is all on the shoulders of the unprovens like Price, Subban, MaxPax, Latendresse, etc.
  8. my bet is that SK will be shipped out of town with the recently showcased Halak very soon.
  9. there were stretches when i thought he looked real good vs. Atlanta
  10. for his first game back in the NHL in a long long time - i thought he did very well too. let's hope he can build on his performance tonight!
  11. wow. that's dumber than i ever realized then. still - this is the first i've ever heard about it's origins (or cared enough to ever wonder about this). still, as a Christian, i don't associate it with my tradition at all. Go Cammalleri Go!!! :hlogo:
  12. really??? i've been a Christian all my life (parents, grandparents ... u get the jist) and never known any Christian to be superstitious of '13'. perhaps it was just my circles, perhaps it is more about Catholicism than Christianity - but - i guess i had always thought of superstitions to be pagan (lucky & unlucky numbers, black cats, unmanned ladders & all that crap). oh well - to get this back on topic ... really don't like Gill at 75. odd or special numbers deserve odd or special players - and unless you call a pylon odd, 75 isn't a good fit on Gill, IMHO. all the other new Habs have great numbers and i'm thinking will do really well in jersey merchandise.
  13. i didn't watch nearly as many games as many of you did, but from what i could tell - i really liked Tanguay. but, why would BG take a chance on Tangs shoulder and take a chance on Tangs clicking with Gomez when he could get a veritable sure thing in health & meshing with Gomez in a guy like Gionta for very similar money? Lang i really liked too - but again, BG can't afford to risk having even 2.5 mil sitting in the pressbox nursing a nagging injury. in all the risk that BG took by essentially putting his job on the line in a total team make-over, i see a lot of conservatism here too. Farewell Tangs & Lang! I don't think you were parts of the problem, but I think your injuries have hurt you again.
  14. i think if he has a big year NO ONE will be complaining about needing to give him a big contract, not even Bob.
  15. knock, knock. hello? i'm looking for the 'Gainey is an idiot' thread.
  16. at first, i'm wondering why a writer from phoenix would write this article, then i noticed it was written for the Ottawa Citizen ... i can't wait until the 'once glorious' Habs take care of the 'never glorious' Sens. :ghg:
  17. seems to me, those who consider Gainey to be an idiot of a GM, are really most upset about his policy of not negotiating during the season. if that's his only flaw, then there are almost 29 other teams out there who would consider Gainey an upgrade on their GM situations. philosophies & principles are not without flaw - but - i'm thankful for a GM that has them and sticks to them. i believe most of the time, a principled GM is going to be a winner. had all those UFA-eligible players man-upped and met Gainey's challenge to have career years and brought a Stanley Cup to Montreal in our 100th year, they all would have been hot commodities on the open market and either got their money from other teams or would have gotten their share of the millions we just spent on Gomez, Gionta, Cammalleri, et al. but, even in their contract years they couldn't get it together - so now they (& their cancer) are disbursed throughout the league and a new core & a new era of Habs has begun. it's a roll of the dice, bob - but it all makes sense to me.
  18. watch for Higgins to join him in TO after this season i'm sure of it.
  19. i agree, absolutely! given 2 players of relatively equal pros & cons ... go with the Quebecois. it just makes sense on SO many levels.
  20. i was going to make him my new favourite habs ... but didn't cuz i didn't want to misspell his name!
  21. yep - send jetsniper a message
  22. i'm still expecting the Habs to trade either Price or Halak
  23. i'm glad the Habs didn't lose Higgins for nothing after next season(as they will Komi this season). not only do they gain a respectable 1st line C - but they have him for 5 years. the prospect cupboard is still in good shape (only losing McDo) and that means before Gomez contract is up, there will be some cheap young talent in the fold and therefore still cap room to either resign players or make more trades (assuming UFA-world is just simply never going to be habs-friendly again )
