Fanpuck33
Nah, Saint Louis is the worst. Yeah, the defending World Series champs are the worst run team in baseball. A team that has won their division six of the last seven years. Your lack of knowledge concerning baseball is made obvious by that ridiculous statement. simonus
Nah, Saint Louis is the worst. wow. I have lots of issues with the Cards organization (with an 'EYE', fanpuck!), like Eckstein and LaRussa worship, but those guys just won the World Series. To even think they are the worst run franchise is astonishing. Even if you don't buy the Reds, have you ever heard of the Royals? How about the Cubs (Soriano for 8 years!?!?!)? Fanpuck33
Even if you don't buy the Reds, have you ever heard of the Royals? How about the Cubs (Soriano for 8 years!?!?!)? The difference between the Royals and Reds is that the Reds are actually trying. Kansas City gets rid of their good players as soon as they become valuable, they're not even trying to win. The Reds, on the otherhand, get very similar crappy results while "trying" to put a winning team on the field. In 1999 they had a one game playoff. The next season they won 14 fewer games, and by the next season were next to last in the division. 10 months ago the Reds were in a playoff hunt, now they're the worst team in baseball. As a fan, I guess I'd rather have an organization that tries to field a winner. I still think the Reds are run worse than the Royals, since the Royals are at least succeeding at being meaningless. The Reds are so incompetent that they are just as meaningless as the Royals, even though they're trying to improve the team.
Pierre the Great
well for one I hate: The owner and his stupid bank I have to throw papers to. The socialist in me hates walking up to the steps of a bank with marble stair cases and a giant 10ft tall gold eagle on top of the building. Plus I throw his paper to his 'saint louis house' Second about the owner. He's never cared about the team. He's a Reds fan who is from Cincinnati. He still lives in Cincy. He only has the team his own personal ego trip. Third, He's a bore, he's a banker with no attitude. He wasn't even happy when the team won the Series last year. Fourth, There is always a suspecion that he's going to sell the team at some point do to making "I'm going to sell the team and make a profit" actions. Fifth, the stadium. Was not needed Sixth, We get the new stadium and sell it out yet he increases ticket prices while decreasing payroll. WTF!! He's pocketing money. Seventh, he's Bush's buddy, there by he's a supporter of one of the biggest tyrants in human history. The President He's a crony He's the last link to the Brewery days He demands you call him Mr. President His son is a drunk through glass bottles off the top of his hotel into the local pool across the street. I've met him, he's an ass The Fans obnoxious spoiled dumb stupid redneck (most of the fans are outside of the Stl area like arkansas and their 'vacations' are to come to saint louis in their red tshirts and blue jean shorts and they're fat) The fans have no passion. They would give Hitler a standing ovation if he could hit .330 and have 30hrs and 120 RBIs. If you boo at a game they'll tell you to stop because your scaring the 'children' (true story when McGwire came back for the closing of the old stadium people were booed and then told by people around them to shut up because your scaring the children and it wasn't proper because "look at all he did for the city" LOL Other issues The ownership moved the Cardinals off of KMOX the home of the cardinals for the last gosh 60 some years to a crappy station the team bought on a weak dial. Thereby killing off the true cardinal fan base which is in Arkansas, Southern Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee, Upper Mississippi and Oklahoma. KMOX is one of the strongest radio signals in the country. On a clear night you can pick it up in places like Chicago, Cleveland, Denver, Tulsa, Texas. Now I can't even listen to a game 30 miles from the stadium. Plus there are many more things like my cousin, I said well what if you move away to a different town and become a fan of another baseball team. Her response was "I couldn't do that because I'd be letting the Cardinal players down." Basically the team has become a religion here, much like europe and its soccer clubs. Its sickening. They have no fan support because KC is a super small market. That's why I've been so up in arms over the NHL trying to move there. Its not going to work. KC is not a sports town. They only care about the football team and only show up to baseball games when the yankees or cardinals from there hated city rivals Saint Louis come to town. simonus
PTG. None of the reasons you supplied applied to how well the team was run, many of them were repetitive, many meaningless, and many nonsensical.
Quebecois
at least Cincy tries to produce a winner. To me thats better than a team like the Royals or Pirates who havent shown an effort at all and simply try to put a team out there that will get just enough fans to the park to make some money. Pierre the Great
PTG. None of the reasons you supplied applied to how well the team was run, many of them were repetitive, many meaningless, and many nonsensical. I mentioned the fact that revenue and money taken in by the organization is higher doesn't justify the low payroll? The team won't spend, instead they get journeyman washed up players. Duncan doesn't know how to deal with young pitchers And the fans hate Tony LaRussa for being Tony and not I quit on the team Whitey Herzog. Mainly because Tony lives in California and is liberal. Because we all know Midwest hates people who are intelligent human beings. That's why the smart folks leave this dump.
Fanpuck33
Still, you have provided nothing that implies they are a poor run team. You have provided many reasons why you hate them, but very few as to why they would be considered a poorly run team. It's impossible to argue the team is poorly run when they've won 6 of 7 division titles and just won a World Series. at least Cincy tries to produce a winner. To me thats better than a team like the Royals or Pirates who havent shown an effort at all and simply try to put a team out there that will get just enough fans to the park to make some money. To me it shows more ineptitude. They are so bad that their team is as bad as the Pirates and Royals, who aren't even trying.

Fanpuck33
blame the ghost of Marge. Marge was a great owner. She said stupid stuff, but she put the right people on the job and put a winner on the field. The league has pretty much hated the Reds for the last 15 years because of her. All kinds of things such as taking away the honor of playing the first game of the season. Notice that 1999 was the last time the Reds played a playoff game (a play-in game) and that was the last year she owned the team. Once Lindner took over things went downhill ever since. Things started looking good when Castellini took over, but instead of refusing to spend lots of money, they've simply wasted money on crappy players. Nota bene: I specifically said great owner. I said nothing about what kind of person she was.
Pierre the Great
Oh I agree completely one of the best owners and fans baseball has ever had. That said horrible human being. That's what I miss about owners. I don't like the Cardinals owner because he treats the team just like another business. To me if you are an owner you've got to show passion and not treat it like just another business venture. Mark Cuban is great Maloof brothers Owner of the Steelers downside there's jerry jones. Pierre the Great
Weird you've got the hottest team in baseball and you abruptly quit. lol http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/19535528/
Fanpuck33
Congrats to the Reds for bringing up Homer Bailey before he was ready. Here's to ruining a kid's confidence with an ERA over 8 in his first five major league starts. This is what they get for bringing him up to put fans in the seats instead of waiting till he was ready to be a legit major leaguer.

Fanpuck33
Good news: The Reds fired Jerry Narron, their manager. Bad news: His replacement will probably be more of the same.

Pierre the Great
I gave up any hope for the team the minute they traded Sean Casey, the heart of the team. I see. Hey at least your not an Indians fan. lol The light bulb for baseball sorta burned out for me. Just stopped caring. Now its just a passing interest, can't watch a game anymore. So I just get the condensed version on Baseball Tonight.
Pierre the Great
The best GM in baseball will be shown the door soon, Walt Jockety has been pushed out over an owner/gm rift between the worst owner in all of baseball and the best underrated gm of baseball. Cashman is hearing foot steps.
