If they don't sign him, I would love Bob to find a way to get him.. won't be easy

Why did Markov accompany the team to Atlanta? Injured players who have zero chance of playing don't generally join the team. Think he went to talk to his friend about the possibility of coming to Montreal?

As for the game? Simple:

MABergeron: putrid.

Spacek: horrid.

O'Byrne: dismal.

Hamrlik: dog-tired.

Gill: Gill.

Georges: best of the bunch? :puke:

We looked like a team that was brutally tired. Our defenders were abysmal. I'm not saying others were great, but I haven't seen the slot that wide open in Montreal's defense in a couple of weeks. (Insert your own open slot joke here.)

I'm sorta, kinda worried the leafs are going to offer him alot. I believe they may have alot to spend this summer.

the leafs actually don't have a lot to spend. I believe they have 12 million, but 11 players to sign...

Its the leafs, they would be allowed to do whatever they want just because their the leafs. Bettman:"Sure go ahead Burke, as long as u bring the salary down to the cap in 10 years" Werent Devils and/or the Flyers over the cap and somehow allowed to go anyway?

Exactly. Look at what we did last off-season.

Pretty bad game for Price. He was either making a great save or letting in a bad one. Good thing about the posts or he'd have let in 6 goals on 30+ shots. (That last goal against Pittsburgh was also bad.)

Now before the Price lovers go crazy here, I'm not calling for his head or removal as 1st string goalie BUT Gainey should think twice before dealing Halak. There are oh-so-familiar bad habits creeping back into Price's game and there's no point in making an incredible game-saving save, if it's gonna be followed by a weak game-losing goal.

Oh wow, I was starting to think Cammy had the best shot on the Habs but no, I think it's still gotta be Kostitsyn.

man... when he really take his best shot out, Andrei could possibly own the best shot arsenal of the leageu, it's amazing...

I've rarely seen a wristshot coming so hard, so fast in the NHL.

D'Agostini is quite deceiving, he is completely out of sequence and been

the same since day 1 this year.

Not only he has some ice time to show he wants the puck, he is a no show there

no shoots -2 in 4 minutes. Come on 4 minutes, your job is to limit the damage in 40 seconds.

The habs cannot keep him he cost 2 games by himself. All forwards have to play strong defense

when the D squad is overused. Hammer 26 min/ Spacek on one leg 22min/ Gill on one speed 22 minutes

8 minutes on PK. Georges 24 minutes.

apparently jackp is off his meds again.

And these guys say that *I* get personal.

Heaven forbid anyone who tries to be objective about Price... or Halak.

Halak finished the deal against Ottawa. Price had a *similar* great game against the Pens but did not finish the deal by letting in a bad winning goal. You can say what you want - the winning goal was a bad one. As I said, Halak finished the deal - no bad goals in his performance which was every bit as good (if not better) than Price's with the Pens.

The Thrashers scored 4 goals on 30 shots. They also hit 3 posts. (I did not count 1 of them against Price because he couldn't have done anything on that goalmouth scramble.) That would have been 6 goals on 30 shots. Yes, he made spectacular saves. But 6 goals on 30 shots is not a good performance. The RDS broadcasters said that Price appeared to be losing his confidence. I guess they must be off their meds too.

You know, it's frustrating here with these Price lovers. They have the Habs GM on their side. So Price plays more than Halak and has the number one job, and they go around talking like this is based on performance.

But any objective observer knows that this situation is not based on performance, but on expectation. And I hope the expectation proves correct because otherwise, we're gonna have lost a very good goalie and be stuck with an inconsistent mediocre one. Price is too "up and down" for my liking - makes the great save, then let's in a bad goal. Plays great for 10 games then stinks up the joint for the next 10.

Now we all love the Habs and want them to win. Price lovers see this happening as Carey slowly rounds into a great NHL goalie. I'm not so sure. We already have a more consistent and good goalie in Halak. I think it's too much of a gamble to lose him and put all of our hope into Price.

Couple of not-the-best goals and we're back in the "flush Price" world again. Guy practically single-handedly pulled the team back into a playoff spot with the previous 10 games and yet he's still Rodney Dangerfielded with every single mistake. Guess what, Brodeur lets in shite goals as well. Anyone see the second goal on Luongo last night? Utterly brutal.

I specifically said 2 posts ago Colin, that I wasn't calling for his head or saying that he should lose his number 1 posting. So why the "flush Price" comment?

And in this last post, I didn't say he should lose this position. I *did* say that his position was based more on future expectation than *over-all* performance. Can anyone argue this point? If you look at over-all performance over the last 2 years, I don't think anyone can argue that Halak has out-performed him.

Again, not calling for his head - just very nervous about the direction the team is about to go in.

I would like to keep Halak for as long as we can, just as an insurance policy against Price going south again. I hope the Price lovers (some of whom have practically salivated over Halak being traded, which makes me wonder about their priorities) don't find this too upsetting...

I can argue that. I don't even think Halak will ever be a #1 goalie in this league. Halak ain't out-performing anyone.

First: apologies. I only remember the most recent post. Alzheimers. I blame Aspartame.

Second: to a degree, Price is there because of expectation; but recent performances have been pretty darn good. Has Halak out-performed him in the last two years? That I cannot answer. What I can say is that both have been very inconsistent. Price, however, has stolen more games, particularly in recent weeks - a good sign of maturity in head and game.

Halak as backup (slash second starter) would be great, I agree. That said, we're not going to be bringing home the Cup this year (with an apology to the ever-faithful) so flipping Halak for a top-6 forward (as is the rumeur du jour) is not a problem for me. Price gets more time between the pipes, there is no controversy, and we potentially get more offensive flair. Personally, I think Price feeds off puck - as did Luongo in his early years.

In this, I'd have to agree with our esteemed vegetable: Cucumber. This is a rebuild, to a degree. Might as well get the pieces we want to grow together now, then let them grow. I don't think anyone in the offices in Montreal are kidding themselves: we're barely a playoff squad. That said, there's no reason why we can't continue to acquire pieces to augment our organization. I would rather he flip Halak now, when we know his value is at least reasonable, than see Jaro sit for ages upon ages while Price gets the majority of the work - which would seem to be the direction we're going - and watch Halak's value plummet like the stock market. I'd rather see a Sanford/Desjardins in net for 10-15 games rather than Halak being wasted.

you know Jackp this was a joke. the last comment you made to me was that you were in a better mood because you said Viagra works. Now maybe this joke was too subtle for you or you are sensitive and if such is the case I apologise but this is the last post I need to make cause this forum has turned into a joke. This forum loses posters every day and is dying because there is no common sense it is just fighting between those who want to critisize the habs and those who are fans. I am tired of it. I am many other forums and I don't need the shite I get on this pos. when you chase enough people off this forum and the rest of you supposed habs fans can all agree that gainey should be fired martin should be shot and everybody traded for an upgrade you will be happy. good bye, 2376 posts and out.

Habsrule, for what it's worth, I'd prefer if you stay. I read more than I post, under 500 posts in 4 years, so I'm not a major contributor. I do agree with you though. In these parts, if you think Bob shouldn't be tarred and feathered, you're instantly a fan-boy. If you believe that Carey Price has a bright future, even though you think Halak does too, you're a Price lover. It get's to be like a high school debating class. Anyway, hang in, keep on keeping on.

If it was a joke, it was a nasty one. "Off of my meds" implies psycho-social drugs and not viagra. I specifically was very careful in my previous posts NOT to get personal and to not even suggest Price should lose his job. I"m sorry but the joke seemed to say, "jackp is crazy again" and whether it was a joke or not, it was nasty.

And if you want to leave, go ahead. And trying to blame me and others who don't agree with the Price party line, is laughable. I was not personal. I gave my viewpoint. You got personal and then are angry because you were called for it. If you did not intend to imply that I was off my rocker AGAIN, then I'm sorry that you were misinterpreted. Perhaps you should re-read your posts and think how they might be interpreted before posting. Usually, pretending that you're the target of the post would help.

(But you'll stay a Habs fan, right?)
