dlbalr
It looks like Johnston's in again while Redmond sits. A defenceman who is terrible (on a good day) in his own end against guys like Crosby, Malkin, and Kessel. Oh boy...

sbhatt
Radulov! Great passing play.
revvvrob
That was a pretty goal to watch. How often does the chalkboard plan work perfectly! they got the pens right d to bite and then they were chasing. Wish I could see a full replay so I could see whose fake at the blue line did the job for Montreal.
Trizzak
With the assist on Radulov's goal, Paul Byron now has a new career high in points at 22. He also reached this career high in 10 fewer games.
revvvrob
Period recap from my POV in the nosebleeds Byron was buzzing the whole period. Price made 2 crazy saves that had this section groaning. Emelin hit - nice. Weber missed the net on a great chance Pens power play was impressive (last one not so much). Habs had better be done with penalties Beaulieu stood out a few times Happy with Petry Max almost cost a goal by failing to clear a couple times on one shift - looked good in offensive zone tho - so not a bad game so far McCarron had one shift in particular that really showed what we hope he becomes Thats what I got off the top of my head while I wait in line to get my beverage during intermission
dlbalr
Considering the penalty problem the Habs had that period, to come out of it with the lead is pretty good.
sbhatt
Weber looked bad there.
revvvrob
2 on 2 - Weber had the puck carrier ... why Emelin didn't take on Hornqvist, I'll never know. EDIT! Just saw the replay. I'm too hard on Emelin here. Weber was beaten way earlier in the play and it was Byron racing back to try to get the puck carrier before the pass happened. revvvrob
I can see the Habs defense better this period ... OMG #89!!! Is that Johnston??? Manhandled. Man. Hand. Led.

sbhatt
Johnson looked like a kid playing against a man there vs. Kessel
The Chicoutimi Cucumber
The Pens have been having fun all game against the Habs' D. We just have to many weak links back there to be able to reliably contain a team like that, when it's in full flight. Jonson was sad on that play, but Weber and especially Emelin didn't look so hot on goal #1 either. Maybe MT & Muller can make some adjustments for the third, but in the longer run, maybe we should be looking for an upgrade in the bottom pairing come the deadline... Chris
The habs D is awfiull out there, soft slow and can't win any battles. Why is johnston in the nhl? Kind of amazing they are tied at 2. Good thing they have Byron
revvvrob
Terrible second period. Habs were lucky to tie it up on a deflection. I've lost count on how many oddman rushes the Pens have had. The Habs cannot play this wide-open against the Pens! where is da system!
dlbalr
At least Johnston made it through the first before he got completely exploited. He only had one shift after that the rest of the period. I know they're not confident in Redmond but he's at least somewhat passable; Johnston's a third pairing AHL player. Trizzak
Remember that old commercial with NHL stars competing on who could score the most ridiculous goal? ("hit the glass, off the scoreboard, ding the crossbar and in") Flynn just scored a contender.
