What about forsberg?

Recommended Posts

I don't think I've ever seen this posted before, so I will.

I think a guy like forsberg would be a great 1 year signing for the habs if you think of how well he is when he is healthy. I would sign him and let him rest bas much as he needs, and come back for the last 15- 20 games of the season, and he will just be getting hot in- time for the playoffs. That would greatly improve our chances of giving the best damn player in the leaugue who hasn't won a cup (I'm talking about our captain of course) a great chance to go to the finals.

I know he is playing in Sweden right now but I don't think he is bound to a contract or anything.

I know this is highly unlikely to ever happen, but it's still fun to say what if. Your thoughts would be appreciated.

I think forseberg will only go somewhere that he thinks he has a ligit shot of winning the cup. Especially if he only signs a 1 year deal. Chances are he goes to Ottawa or Detroit. Colorado and Philly have an outside chance because he has connections to the cities.

If Gainey could get him he would make the Habs a contender.

Forsberg will end up in Dallas or Colorado though.

If Ottawa keeps it up, I think they have a shot. Heatley/Spezza on line 1a and Alfie/Forsberg on line 1b would produce a cup parade down Bank St. if everyone stayed healthy.

I do not believe they have the cap room anymore for that.

It's all speculation and I hope he is healthy, but to say he turns ottawa into a contender isn't true. He was supposed to do that for Nashville last year. They were going to be put over the top but they actually got worse. Sometimes glorified players can weaken a team. I don't think Forsberg is the player he used to be. His ankles are screwed. That will change everything. Hard to win a cup when you should be sitting in a wheelchair.

Forsberg has been selected for the Swedish National Team that will play in Karjala Cup next week. He has not played any games this season, but he hs been practicing with MoDo.

I don't think Forsberg would hurt Ottawa, and since they're a contender already...

I just want him for the playoffs. I believe he can be the colorodo forsberg that we all know of, just not for a whole season, and proper motivation goes a long way. I beleieve that Brodeur has started slow this year simply because a lack of motivation.

Seeing him in any team at all anymore is a pipe dream at best, he just left the national team and wont play in the tournament because he doesnt feel well. He is still injured and I bet he will call it quits any day now.

"According to the Globe and Mail, Forsberg left the ice at Sweden's national team practice on Monday after an hour, saying his ankle wasn't holding up."

Sounds like he's done..............

Yepp, Aftonbladet afterwards asked him if he has ever before felt being this close to a retirement, to which he answered "No".

He also said that he doesn't believe that he'll play another game this year (can't really tell if he ment the remainder of this year or the entire 07/08 season).

- Things don't look good, he continued.

It is sad to see great players just get too injured to play any longer. I liked Pavel Bure but his knees just didn't last. And Molgilny (Except when he was with leafs - boooooo) with that bad back problem that reduced him to nothing.

Yes, I felt sorry for Almo when he got waived and no one gave him a shot. But hey, it's the cap and all, right..

Forsberg is history, most likley.

He will see a specialist in Denver this week to check if there is something to be done. If not, his career is over. He also stated that he won't do any major surgery that could risk his future health.

One of the best has probably played his last game.

it's sad really. It's not even an injury that he induced by playing the way he did, it's all because of the ligaments in his foot that we screwed up since he was born

The most probable UFA that can play in Montreal is still Selanne.

I know we have heard it over and over again but if the team keep winning more games

than they lose after 30 games. Koivu and Gillet can take a flight to Finland and try to

convince him.

Sure Selanne would not come here with a team that most experts predicted league basement,

but with a hope of a good playoff run Koivu can convince him to help him win a Stanley Cup.

Higgins-Koivu-Selanne

That would be awesome, and make us contenders.
