  1. Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island... the vacation hotspot!
  2. Good price for a good goal scorer. You have to pay him more than Ribeiro and the fact that he didn't pay much more makes his signing that much better... or Ribeiro's just a little bit worse.
  3. Don't forget Nabakov and Legace... good goalies are a dime a dozen these days.
  4. Source: Philadelphia Inquirer The Philadelphia Flyers continue to talk with Simon Gagne and his agent, Bob Sauve, about a new contract. Sauve was the agent who negotiated Alex Tanguay's new deal with the Flames for $5.25 million per season. The two are comparable, and it is believed that is what Gagne is looking for, if not a bit more. GM Bob Clarke maintains that signing Gagne is his number one priority.
  5. Kostitsyn was projected top 5 in the draft for a period before his bouts with epilepsy went public. He has the most potential and is ready to bust out. He should have been given more opportunity last year and will get lots of chances this year.
  6. Unless your tough guy can skate and hit and score without taking horrendously bad penalities, he isn't of much use in the new NHL. Begin, Downey, Murray provide some hits and some fights... as do guys like Souray, Komisarek, and Rivet. Bums who play 2 minutes per week and sit in the pressbox do nothing to improve a teams toughness.
  7. So basically there is no source... just some guy on the radio. File this in the garbage.
  8. I love it. Basically we traded Zednik and a draft pick for Mike Johnson, Sergei Samsonov, and a draft pick. Johnson and Samsonov, while both a little injury-prone are both .75 pts/game players in this league. And with Samsonov... speed kills. It's the shifty players that draw the penalties. Money well spent. I think $3.5 million for him is a deal.
  9. As for that first Sens game, I believe Montreal lost to Ottawa 5-3. I remember feeling quite horrible after that loss... yet we put together quite a season after that.
  10. I like Bonk... he can play at both ends... he just had an unfortunate injury which happened to lead to a slump. At the end of the season he was one of our better players. Give him someone to work with consistently and he'll be fine.
  11. Goons are becoming much less useful in the new NHL. Almost to the point that you can't play them anyway. Your tough guys need to be players... like a Begin, Downey, and Murray. I think 'goon days' are numbered. You need hard-nosed, energy players, who aren't a wasted spot on your bench. Like Ivanans and Vandermeer were.
  12. Or it could just mean he tells one guy that's he's number one and the other guy that he's number two. Done.
  13. That's a tad expensive in my book for a possible one-year wonder. I'd be happy to hang on to Aebischer myself for the time being. Jim Carey, Steve Penney, Andrew Raycroft anyone?
  14. As far as I'm concerned, it's been off-season since Game 6 of the quartfinals ended. It's time to get the party started!
  15. Barely news... it's not surprising how a boring off-season will create news that isn't worth mentioning. Things like this will appear and vanish quickly... in a few weeks time, the fun begins.
  16. Perfect! A great guy with great knowledge... and a former team leader who can hopefully teach these guys how to lead when their captain goes down.
  17. You guys play too much fantasy GM on your PS2's and XBox's. These possible deals are ridiculous. As is anyone wanting LeCavalier at that cost... players which would be traded... or the contract he has. Lots of guys have Stanley Cup rings... it doesn't mean we want or need them. Brisebois anyone? Exactly!
  18. Since when do we want Lecavalier? A player who has never produced a point per game season in his career on an offensive-minded team. Koivu averages more points per game than this guy, is cheaper, and is a leader. Vinny is a whiner... we all know that.
  19. Brad Richards, the 2nd highest player in the league. How ridiculous is that? He's a good player, but come on. The spiraling salaries begin again. Tampa Bay will need to trade Lecavalier, St. Louis, or Richards in the near future or their team is finished for the next 5 years... they've already shown they had no depth this year, it'll be worse next year.
  20. I'd be interested. I'm the commish of leagues (hockey, football, baseball) with about 15 people in each. I usually finish well and we also have keeper leagues so I know about the effort needed to put into making a franchise work. I also do the PS2 thing with manager/fantasy modes. I'm always looking for a challenge.
  21. Higgins all the way. I've never seen a player miss opportunities like Ribeiro... he should have had 5 goals in the series. He's becoming Brisebois... the centre of mistakes.
