Mr. Nasty
http://www.geocities.com/floridapanthers2000/free2007.html I didn't bother listing all the RFAs as there is very little movement. I also included salaries to compare there value. Thought it may be easier to follow. Athlétique.Canadien
http://tsn.ca/tsn_talent/columnists/darren_dreger/ Dreger writes an article about Smyth it it says that the Isles are preparing an offer above $6-million per year over a 7 - 8 year term. Also it says the leefies are after him. I'm not sure how leefies can get him. Aren't they floating at about 42 to 44 million in cap right now? McCabe is supposedly really close to on his way out of Toronto. If JFJ is smart, he'll trade McCabe and sign Smyth. However, thats if he's smart. Athlétique.Canadien
APPARENTLY Briere has rejected Buffalo's 5 year offer. Bring on Briere to Montreal I know that some will disagree because of his lack of size but it wouldn't surprise me if BOb compensates with another move to address that. However, thats if he's smart. Hey Jets.... I heard those rumours too but Mr. Cannot play defense said nobody has asked him to waive his no trade. ON A SAD SIDE NOTE: Mr. JFsr is in a real battle with his recurrence of cancer. Yesterday JFjr and family were all together so I do believe this is not good. I am only hoping the best for John Ferguson Senior and their family.
Athlétique.Canadien
At this point the rumour about Briere refusing is from chfans. Not very reliable. This is a long wait until sunday

If you're dealing with a reliable superstar then these types of deals are the way to go and the Isles are the first to realize it. Although Smyth is way too old for an 8 year deal, if he were a couple of years younger it would be a good risk to take because in Year 8, 6 mill will not be much for a superstar. Athlétique.Canadien
Briere declines 25 over 5 Confirmed http://tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=212162&hubname=nhl
ch_nl
So does everybody agree on Briere? Would he be our savoir? I think different. What has Briere proved? What has he acomplished more than one great season? Would he perform as good with all the pressure playing for the Habs as a Quebecois? Why aren't they eyeing Ryan Smyth instead? If he signs with Toronto then the Leafs might actually be a force. Which of course is a bad thing... And when will we start the prediction poll? Sunday?
Fanpuck33
I think Briere is a great player, but he'd be closer to 70-80 points on Montreal, unless we change our game plan. He's not a one year wonder, he actually had a higher scoring pace the season before, but was slowed by injuries.
JMMR
Briere is an excellent player and very talented, but he is small and takes a lot of chances something I believe Carbonneau did not encourage last year I hope he does this year but I doubt he drastically changes his philosophies towards coaching, Briere would get frustrated here. As for the Leafs signing Smyth that would help them for sure and help Sundin but they have to trade Kubina or McCabe first I would think if they want to contend with the 6 million dollar offers Captain Canada will get.
