Chris
Well you figure that the Islanders will just hand it to the habs again tonight. So let's see what the habs are actually made of. We'll see which team shows up.
dlbalr
Pyatt has 7 stitches and a black eye from last night but is expected to play tonight.
dlbalr
Gervais back in for the Isles (meaning they only have single digit injuries), he'll reportedly replace Wishart. Personally, I find this a good thing, they just made themselves worse. Jesse Joensuu will also play, guessing he'll be in for Colliton, hoping it's for Gillies though. Habsfan84
If we cant beat a 5th string goalie, that will be pretty pathetic. I expect a pretty lopsided win of 5-1 for the Habs. Go Habs Go. Hopefully White can add more to the line-up this time around.

Are we that desperate we need to bring up injured reserves? or was that failing communication between Trainers and Hamilton coaches.. Anywho White has been scoring of late and should be 100% for tonight... I hope! Edited February 10, 2011 by CoRvInA

White was fine and had played several games before his recall (skimming the game by game stats, he played 12 games before being called up). He just wasn't doing anything in Hamilton which, if you look at his offensive production, is right in line with what he did when he was sent down after training camp. Also, scoring of late? He now has 3 goals, which he means he has 1 since his callup. That 1 goal is the only one he has since Nov. 16, spanning 18 games.

Then the only logic in calling up white would be that he gets in front of the net and his linesmen score thanks to his valiant efforts... I'm just fantasying... In any case he better do more then his previous stint!

I'm just fantasying... In any case he better do more then his previous stint! I think they're calling him up since he was up recently (chemistry) and that he provides some toughness. The Isles' 4th line as comprised is basically a goon unit, they wanted muscle for them...and maybe Toronto. The only other 'tough' forward option was Conboy and he just came back 2 days ago, probably not yet 100%.
The Chicoutimi Cucumber
Gut-check time. We need to nip this losing streak in the bud, and the players need to show they have the cojones to bounce back from the pounding Boston meted out. Sometimes the game *after* the 'big game' is the REAL test. I think it could go either way...the team could rally with a really gutsy all-for-one effort and beat a team they should be able to beat; or they will come out listless and tired and end up pissing two points down the drain. I'll bet that, as the deadline looms, PG is very interested to see how the team responds.

Sigh, not a fan of Martin keeping Gomez with Andrei and Eller with the poor performance they put up last night but maybe it's chance that Martin is willing to give to those 3 to step up. We'll see. Also not happy about the Darche injury because he is the most underrated player on the habs IMO. But hopefully, things pan out. Go habs go. Not 100% sure on the lines; when I tried to plug White in, it made sense to keep that unit together guessing wise. As for Darche, last night was his first decent game in a while, he really had tailed off lately. Still though, sucks to see him go down (and he is still questionable as far as I know) coming off a good performance.

dlbalr
A quiet first period aside from the parade to the penalty box. I'll live with a 1-1 tie while the team tries to find their legs. Hope they pick it up though. Little quieter on here tonight, I see.
The Chicoutimi Cucumber
So far, it's been closer to the 'we're tired we quit' scenario than the 'rebound' scenario. But dlbalr is right, they're battling to find their legs. Meanwhile, Gomez continues to be utterly hapless out there; fortunately DD picked up the slack with that tremdenous pass to MaxPac. I'll likely get flamed for this, but it might be time for JM to discreetly start re-allocating Gomer's minutes to Desharnais. I'm sorry, but he is NOT worse than Gomez at this point. dlbalr
The Gomez line was better in the 2nd, everyone was which was nice. I'm still trying to wake up from the period (this is a bit of a snoozer), but 20 shots in a period is a good sign the Habs are finding their legs. Great goal by Pouliot, White with a strong takeaway/pass, he looks more comfortable as a grinder guy than in the the scoring role the Bulldogs need him to play. Plekanec's goal was a little soft, but I'll take it. Oh, and full props to Koskinen on that save on Wisniewski. A bonafide top-10 save of the year candidate in my opinion, I can see why the Isles spent an early 2nd on him. He's not technically sound yet but if he ever gets that part of his game going, look out. He could be a good one.
mandy
The Habs looked really, really tired in the first, barely hanging in there. They should send a basket and flowers to the Islanders for not gooning it up Decent second period. Let's finish this in the third - woops, spoke too soon. dlbalr
Well, could be worse I guess. The Habs just couldn't put the pedal down in this one, it happens. If nothing else, a point's a point which ups the playoff odds (if you've been checking the Scoreboard Watching thread diligently). Injury notes, Gill and Darche both expected to miss Saturday's tilt, which evidently will also require someone else to do the GDT.
