saskhab
Now we know why Nash is up, Spacek isn't on the ice at the morning skate. He's also a lefty, Carle would make four RH's. Don't read too much into Nash over Carle.
JCPetit
Now we know why Nash is up, Spacek isn't on the ice at the morning skate. Woops! I thought that Nash was up because of Gill's injury. If Spacek can't play, it means that we will dress three rookies with the "veterans" being Picard, Hamrlik and Wisniewski. Needless to say that our defense will be seen as vulnerable... dlbalr
He's also a lefty, Carle would make four RH's. Don't read too much into Nash over Carle. I wasn't reading into the who was called up element but rather the why part of it. Still a good point to make though. I kind of wonder if Henry would have been better here, assuming they could qualify it as an emergency callup. He played with Subban last year so they have some chemistry. We'll see soon I'm sure if Spacek missed practice for precautionary reasons or if he's actually hurt (I'm not lending any credence to the speculation he's been traded). dlbalr
Darche will play, Eller will sit as I predicted at the bottom of the GDT. No real surprise though. The Chicoutimi Cucumber
Looks like Eller is playing himself into a ticket to Hamilton, no? Given that Price has outperformed Halak, might it be time to forget team politics send the lad down? Give him a chance to rebuild his confidence and come back stronger? bar
Let Eller go down to the minors and play his natural position of centre, I really dislike the use of players out of position. I am not unhappy with Eller this season, he's been moved around, bumped up and down and out of the lineup, look what happened to MaxPax, I think it'd be a great blueprint for Ellers success, those who complain about his demotion are short sighted,
dlbalr
Kaleta a healthy scratch as well for the Sabres, a little less dirtiness to deal with. Sounds like a lower body injury for Spacek, he'll be a game-time decision.

I don't see his being up as a politics issue at all... dude was an AHL All-Rookie player and was thriving as our 4th line centre out of the gate... it's when he was challenged to play wing with more minutes that things went away, and Desharnais has stolen his centre spot. He's been up due to injuries and the Lapierre trade for a while now, though, and when everyone's healthy he's definitely looking like at best the 13th forward, so yeah, the AHL makes sense now. Fair enough. Boy, Desharnais has become a real wild card! His emergence has all sorts of ramifications for the roster - especially for Gomez and Eller. Fun to see the Little Engine that Could proving the doubters wrong and shaking things up. Hopefully he can continue in this vein, it's a blast. Hopefully he can continue in this vein, it's a blast. Never hurts to have another good player in the lineup, obviously. The thing with Eller is he might have to learn to be a winger just out of necessity: we could be at our quota for LH centremen. If next year we pencil in Plekanec, Gomez and Desharnais as the top 3, then we either have the option of Halpern returning, another cheap UFA replacement RH C, or possibly Engqvist if they feel he can handle that role. In Hamilton, we'd have Eller (L), Leblanc ® and maybe Engqvist ® to choose from. That's depth we haven't had in our organization for a couple of decades down the middle. Have to think Maxwell is trade material at this point.
dlbalr
Despite this is the worst defence I've seen in ages. Go Habs Go !!!! Reminds me of Buffalo interestingly enough a few years back in the playoffs where I think they were using basically 3-4 callups/rookies each night. Nash has been getting some serious minutes in Hamilton (they don't track the stats publicly but I'd suggest from listening to the games that he's out there about 20, 21 minutes a night). I think he'll be able to slide in and do a decent job which is about his game in a nutshell. He does very little, if anything, flashy - just a safe d-man which given the roster is just what the doctor ordered.

Chris
Carle ansd Festerling are both RD if i am not mistaken. The habs need a LD. Let's hope they put in a maximum effort and can get 2 points.
dlbalr
Why not Festerling? He didn't play last game due to injury, I'd assume he's still hurt or at least not 100%. Carle ansd Festerling are both RD if i am not mistaken. The habs need a LD. Festerling is actually a left shooting d-man.
brobin
Someone explain to PK.. when Gomez passes to you, no matter how open he is,... just shoot. All kidding aside, Gomez is buzzing on that shift.. we need the offense to win this one tonight and make it easy on the rookie D.

dlbalr
Pretty impressive period overall, 18-7 the shots for the Habs. brobin
They kept saying "Gomez shoots" and I thought my PVR was stuttering.. That might be the most shots (or attempted shots) by Gomez in a period this year. He is also winning faceoffs big time tonight. Good signs.. but we need some damn finish.
