dlbalr
It was a close race for this year's Jacques Beauchamp Trophy, awarded to the unsung hero of the team. Brian Gionta finished first with Brendan Gallagher a close second. Plekanec, Gorges, and Desharnais round out the top-5; the top three all had the same number of first place votes. I like the pick. Gallagher gets a lot of attention, too much to really be an unsung guy. There aren't many ups and downs with Gionta, he just works hard each night and still puts up some points. Worth noting is that he has just 7 PP points (understandable given that he's 8th among forward PP TOI), most of his production has come at even strength. He's having a quiet year but he still has played well. http://canadiens.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=714040&navid=DL|MTL|home
DON
Sure, Gorges, Moan, Plekanec all would be fine as well.
Machine of Loving Grace
He has really turned it up in the second half. He's turned into one of our best defensive forwards.
Meller93
I would have voted Subban. The guy hardly gets any attention.

KoRP
I like the pick of Gionta, he is much unappreciated sometimes because of the hefty pay he receives, but night in and out, he is a great leader, and plays a great two way game while showing the young guys how to be a pro.... illWill
I think Gionta is definitely underrated as a captian. No he isn't the "sexy" pick to have the C, but he brings a ton of qualities that you want as a leader. He simply goes about his business and keeps a level head. He doesn't take a shift off and epitomizes success through adversity. He will be extremely valuable in any sort of run this team potentially puts together. habs rule
or lack of respect for what he does bring as a captain. Speaking only for myself I have no hate or lack of respect for Brian. I have called for him to be traded because of his age and diminishing capabilities. I think he is a very good choice for this award, but it doesn't change my opinion on how we are going to improve this club. Having said that he has played extremely well in the last 20 games. Hopefully he can lead this team deep into the playoffs.

I ignore the hell out of the guy and he's full measure for the award.
