JCPetit
Luongo only got Matthias and a pick. Here's a good article on goalie trade values.http://www.downgoesbrown.com/2013/10/grantland-whats-fair-market-value-for.html?m=1 The article is good, and confirms what I say IMO. Some goalies have better value than others, of course, but they are established players. A prospect like Fucale has not proved that he can play in the NHL. His value is at best marginal, like I said. He could be useful if included in a larger deal though. It remains to be seen...
hab29RETIRED
Yeah but that deal was made from one of worst 5 GM's of all time. Roy (and Keane) got Ruzinsky, Kovelenko , and was it Fiset? and Roy was considered best in world at the time
DON
Fucale was kept in for all 9 goals eh? Oh well, now we wait and see if he is Newfoundland or Brampton bound in Oct. Will McCarron run over Draisaitl again today, help shut him down and chip in on offense also? WIll McCarron get to centre Dal Colle for full game? Should be good match-up. dlbalr
Not a great first period from McCarron. He didn't look too strong on the draw and looked a little tentative at times out there. His penalty late in the period wasn't a great one to take either.

Overtime would be great

McCarron missing that chance really stings, he misplayed that badly. McCarron's stats through 3 periods: -1, 4 shots, 2 PIMS, 6 hits, 9/23 faceoffs (39%). DON
Yup not McCarron's best game, he had a couple nice hits, but fumbled puck several times and sucked on faceoffs. Maybe he was reading too many headlines during long layoff, on how well he was playing?

Maybe he was reading too many headlines during long layoff, on how well he was playing? He did look to try to get fancy on an open net by going for a back hand instead of wristing it. But it's possible he felt like he had to settle the puck down. Either way, it didn't burn his club. What I liked to see from him is that he isn't afraid to fire the puck at the net when at the half mark in the offensive zone. Too many guys will just carry and look for a pass. McCarron sees openings and gets the puck either by a shot or by driving to the net. We need more of that in the club. Less passing on the perimeter and more pucks at the goalie for rebounds and deflections. I love the way Oshawa was coached. Much like Therrien they are taught defence first and play a game of depth but when carrying the puck, it's all about getting it to the net. Nothing fancy to the boards. The boards are about digging pucks out. Then it's straight to the net. Loved watching them play. Best OHL team I've watched since the 05 Knights. ICEWATER77
Kelowna also had something to do with it. I would've liked to see him tap in the winner with a few mins left when he went to the backhand rather than slam it into the empty net..but still a great experience nonetheless. Can't wait to see how he does with the Ice Caps!
DON
Yes agree, love the fact he shoots whenever has a chance, seems Ovechkin, Stamkos, Kane, Filip Forsberg and the like all don't hesitate to fire puck on net from almost anywhere and when Pacioretty is on he also racks up the shots. DON
McCarron named to all star team. Based on recent (1997-2009) average 1.33 of the 5 all-stars go on to become good to impact NHLers.

DON
Nice to hear that Fucale, when asked by coach if wanted to come out, he wanted to stay in net till the end and for all 9 goals against.
