The Chicoutimi Cucumber
There were mixed signals in the first, but this period has been a complete regression to the disasters of October.
GHT120
Primeau to start the 3rd?
Prime Minister Koivu
I think the Habs had two lousy shots that period. Too many periods like that

GHT120
Nice start to the third with Heineman's goal, and then Xhekaj tries to pick a fight (not entirely without cause) and Hague is smart enough not to give it to him.
Habs Fan in Edmonton
At least they played with a little spunk in the 3rd, too little too late.
Butterface
40 minutes of hockey. 20 minutes of tire fire. Just when you thought Primeau’s save percentage couldn’t get lower…. 1 goal on 3 shots. Poor guy.

Prime Minister Koivu
Both Dach and Slafkovsky were terrible and have been terrible much of the season
Prime Minister Koivu
Exceptionally bad stat card
Sir_Boagalott
It sucked they lost but it was more like how badly they played in the loss. A loss tonight doesn't really matter and Vegas is a strong team. However, it would have been a great night to move up 2 pts on almost everyone in the Div except Buff and Bos. DON
Well, so much for Vegas playing its 3rd game in 4 nights and Habs being rested. Oh well, every winning streak has to end at some point. 10 Thoughts: A Second Period to Forget Costs Habs Against Vegas – HabsWorld.net 1st Star: Brendan Gallagher – He had a hand in both of Montreal’s goals and was one of the few forwards who was noticeable in all three periods. In a game like this, that’s enough for the first star. Stats: 2 assists, even rating, 3 shots, 2 hits, 14:53 TOI

And it's worrisome. Both have been given plum linemates and PP time. Both have rewarded MSL with lacklustre results and - much worse - what seems, to my eye, to be lacklustre effort on too many nights. Floating around, not really battling, not moving their feet, etc. They look to me like players who expect someone else to do it, i.e., to take charge and make things happen. They'll just hang around and raise their arms when that guy (whose initials are usually NS, CC, or GG) scores. MSL absolutely has to find a way to unlock these kids, because without them excelling, the rebuild is basically screwed.
