Name your top 5 Canadiens right now, and top 5 UFA u want to see play for the habs. Mine are:

1. Kovalev- skilled, ability to change the game himself

2. Koivu- Heart and soul

3. Markov- best defencemen

4. Higgins- Will mature into a fantastic player

5. Ryder- Led the habs in goal scoring past 2 seasons

1. Elias- very talented

2. Arnott- habs need a big right handed centerman

3. Redden- who doeasnt want redden on their team?

4. selanne- him and koivu would be lethal.

5. Chara- his size would benefit montreal a lot.

1) Koivu

2) Markov

3) Kovalev

4) Begin

5) Huet

I picked those five because without any one of them in the lineup, the team is visibly altered.

As for UFAs, I really don't care. I trust Bob will look after the Number 2 centre problem and possibly pick up a Top-3/4 defenseman. Our team doesn't really need much more than that, as we have plenty of young guys coming up through the system.

1. Kovalev- Yup! Give him a Centre!

2. Koivu- Fearless after the puck, hard skater, will finish a check, can score, excellent character.

3. Markov- sometimes does not look good defensively, but is a fabulous threat.

4. Higgins- NEVER TRADE THIS GUY!

5. Komisarek- This guy can just crush people. Hey Tucker, "Who's your daddy?"

FREE AGENTS:

1. David Legwand- Would be a nice fit with Kovalev as he is offensively gifted, knows defense too!

2. Wade Redden- Would be the ultimate signing for the Habs.

3. Ed Jovanouski- Mean, Point man for power play, big, creative......

4. Andy McDonald- 85 points with the ducks. Very elusive and gifted. 165 points in 276 games.

5. Brad Isbister- his size would give us someone to stand in front of the net and would not be too costly.

Just give me Legwand on the Habs and I will be extremely overjoyed. You just have to watch this guy play. I do not envy Bob Gainey as there are many good players to chose from. Just get the young talented guys and let the Leafs sign the old Ontario boys so they can retire.

Legwand and Isbister?? I'll pass.

Isbister will never live up to the Bertuzzi comparison.

Legwand is just disappointing, I had him in my fantasy league, never want him back :D And that's my basis, haha.

Koivu, Markov, Higgins, Begin, Kovalev for the Habs.

Redden, Arnott, Selanne, Elias, Jovanovski for the Ufas

Top 5 Habs:

Kovalev ( hands-down the most talented Habs forward)

Huet ( I think this guy is the real deal)

Markov ( breakout passer / PP specialist)

Higgins ( speed and hands

Koivu ( when he's on, and healthy, he produces)

Top 5 'wish-list':

Elias ( a steady producer who shines in the playoffs)

Arnott ( size and skill at center)

Redden ( breakout passes/PP specialist)

Selanne ( synergy with Koivu)

Roenick ( a fallback for a center, definitely a gamble, but could have another good season in him if healthy)

Hey I like the Roenick idea. He speaks his mind and shows up every game.

His only downfall is he called Toronto the Mecca of Hockey :puke: Well nobody is perfect...

Roenick = :puke:

This guy is a self centered prick that only cares about himself, not the team. His teams never came close to winning anything. We don't need a trouble maker in the locker room, BG is cleaning house, he already got rid of Theo (troublemaker #1).

In no particular order

Higgins, Ryder, Perezhogin, Markov, Rivet.

Top five free agents in no particular order

Elias, Redden, Legwand, Mitchell, Chara

Looks like the price of free agents is going to be going up. He's not a UFA but Richards $7.8 Million a year contract will surely drive up the price a little bit. Where the hell is Tampa coming up with this cash? Looks like crappy goaltending for them again.

Have to look for a center elsewhere. Or hope Plekanec makes huge leaps and bounds next year

(Bulis)

Bonk

Plekanec

Kovalev

Koivu

Markov/Begin

and then A Kostitsyn next year

1. Brad Richards

2. Patrik Elias

3. Wade Redden

4. Teemu Selanne

5. Pavel Kubina

I know only Kubina and Elias are likely to hit the market (and Elias, far away for 7M - actually I can see the Leafs doing that) but this is just my dream list of UFA. In a trade, I would absolutely love to get Ethan Moreau who is a candidate for best defensive forward in the game but I highly doubt Edmonotn lets go of him.

Top five habs?... (I'm going to go with the youth... focus on the future... therefore...)

Chris Higgins,

Tomas Plekanec,

Alexander Perezhogin,

Garth Murray,

Mike Komisarek

Free Agents:... (Defensive focus... n'est-ce pas...?)

(Steve Bégin)

Derek Morris,

Paul Mara,

Eric Brewer,

Cory Sarich,

Rick Berry

(David Legwand)

Reasons?

- these are good players who would improve our situation (especially the 1st four).

- they don't fall into the 'technicolour dream' category

- they won't likely cost a horrendous amount of money (and therefore built-in risk) to sign

:king: :hlogo: :king:

Rick Berry is an interesting idea.

Defenseman that shoots left, 6' 2", Weight 213lbs and played for the Avalanche in 2001 and 2002 seasons(His only NHL stint). He would be an inexpensive 9 year hockey veteran for depth. Not a real threat for points as he only had around 13-14 points in the AHL for the Milwaukee Admirals. I only remembered this guy because he played for the Avalanche.

This is the kind of players to at least take a look at. I remember in Toronto sports section of the papers (Near last page) they question Montreal getting Garth Murray. hehehehe now we all know how that turned out. Plus anything named Hossa is just soft when the going gets tough. (I know cheap shot, sorry)

Ooops, I hope that is teh correct Rick Berry as it is the only one I know of. Otherwise Egg in my Face.

straying away from the format here....

I would love to see that Habs take a look at Pisani from Edmonton. They guy is tearing it up in the playoffs, and is another heart and soul player. He'll give a solid effort on every shift and would really fit in well on this team I think.

Other than him Id love Redden and Selanne, and while Im dreaming we can add Elias to that list :-p.

I will stray from the format and list 5 UFA forwards and 5 UFA D Men

Forwards

1. Elias

2. Briere

3. Selanne

4. Arnott

5. Maxim Afinogenov

6. Mike Peca

7. David Legwand

8. Alyn McCauley

Dmen

1. Redden

2. Charra

3. Kubina

4. Jovonovski

5. Kuba

6. Willie Mitchel

7. Paul Mara

Ok, so listed more than five, I got caught up going through the list and so this isn't exactly the order either and some will depend on the asking price. But these are all players I would accept happily on my team.

Richards has been re-signed by Tampa, so let's hope that BG can do the same with HUEt before July 1st.
