  2. Logan Mailloux on Trade to St-Louis, Praise For Canadiens, Embracing Local Culture ... that he had nothing but praise for was 20-year-old David Reinbacher. “His game is great; especially for the amount of hockey he’s missed in the last couple of years,” said Mailloux, referencing his former teammate’s growth. “I think, when he got in, with both sides of the puck, he’s so good. He’s so good defensively, not too many guys can squeeze by him on the wall or get by him at all. He got more and more comfortable and he was a key player for us. He’s going to be a heck of a player.” Source: https://rg.org/news/hockey/logan-mailloux-on-trade-st-louis-blues-praise-canadiens-embracing-local-culture
  3. Hes 22 years old. Yes hes played three seasons but did it at 19, 20, 21. He was a third overall pick. His 52 points were 2nd on the team in scoring. While playing on the second line. Whats his ceiling? Could be an 80-90 point guy? Will he hit that ceiling? Thats a different conversation but i think being a 70 point guy is realistic in his prime on a higher scoring team. And yes Ive always thought a trade is unlikely this summer.
  4. Today
  5. What do you think the ceiling is for McTavish? His best year is 52 points in 3 seasons admittedly on not a great team. Is he a 60 point guy or could he be a 70-80 point guy? I just don't see Anaheim trading him until they have a better idea of what his ceiling is.
  6. Perhaps but maybe they are running out of things to talk about. It's the quiet season for those guys.
  7. One thing I have seen that surprised me today is that both Jeff Marek and Frank Seravalli are putting him out there as a trade candidate.
  8. I've seen some stuff that says the talk of him being unhappy is entirely overblown. He wants a long-term deal, Anaheim's GM believes in mandatory bridge contracts. So he might be unhappy about that but not so much unhappy about being with the Ducks.
  9. I would do Hage and the 1st rounder. Not sure if Anaheim would.
  10. Yesterday
  11. One of Veleno/Newhook will be a Centre given they are the only two lefties. I could very well see Newhook as the 3C and Veleno in the pressbox or Laval. Its a possibility. Veleno has not been guaranteed a spot based on the contract he has gotten.
  12. I mean…if we think that Newhook is actually a serious, legit option at C, then for sure our C depth picture changes. Otherwise, see below. Yeah…in terms of natural C, we’re looking at Suzuki Dach Evans Veleno AHLers Assuming Newhook is NOT the answer, then at this juncture we seem to be going with a “quantity” approach to the bottom 6. Hope that one of Veleno, Kapanen, Beck - or maybe even some rotation - affords credible NHL minutes. At face value, the list above is pretty terrible after Suzuki.
  13. 38g in 306games, he is what he is, i sure hope he isnt in the middle six. You might be right, but I'm going to be optimistic for more. He's always shown to have a high quality skill set. I don't know what's held him back or if he'll ever find another gear, but I'm not going to rule out his potential to grow into a solid 3rd line center. I think maybe if he can come to terms with the fact that he's not a top 6, and can actually dedicate himself to adjusting his game to be the best bottom 6 he can be, we might all be happily surprised.
  14. Which NHL teams improved the most this offseason? Ranking all 32 - The Athletic 2. Montreal Canadiens Net Rating added: +23 In: Zack Bolduc, Noah Dobson Out: Emil Heineman, Logan Mailloux, David Savard, Christian Dvorak, Joel Armia If you’re a Canadiens fan, it’s time to get excited. Only one team has improved more over the last summer externally and it’s likely that few teams will improve more internally, given the collective age of Montreal’s roster.
  15. 38g in 306games, he is what he is, i sure hope he isnt in the middle six.
  16. Veleno isn't pushing Evans to the wing ... so if he is 4C then Evans is 3C ... of course, don't expect Veleno to be 4C ... and as things stand Dach is likely 2C.
  17. He never played a game for Seattle. In June, He was traded from Chicago to Seattle for Burakovsky. Seattle then bought out Veleno the next day. Burakovsky was the cap dump by Seattle, and buying out Veleno was cheaper than buying out Burakovsky. So, Seattle never even really considered him an option..... he played mostly with Detroit and some with Chicago last year.
  18. I believe this is to put pressure on Kapanan and Beck to perform and be ready for camp. Their spot with the big club isn't guaranteed. Internal competition for spots is a good thing. I still think Dach will be given another chance to fulfill the promise and potential he showed when he arrived as a 2C and I think Newhook starts as 3C (if it worked for Stanley Cup winning Aves, surely it can work for us too) Suzy Dach Newhook Evans Veleno Kapanan Beck
  19. This is assuming that one of Dach/Newhook is playing wing (or not playing at all).
  20. Of course that would push Evans to 3C, which I see as his absolute ceiling (and no guarantee) ... although it may be a necessity this season
  21. ASSUMING he signs for at least 5-years
  22. Likely a fair offer ... and with the Matheson extension option, and Reinbacher in the offing, a tempting one ... but of course, like Dobson, it would have to be a sign&trade deal (5 year minimum) ... might be worth trying to add Gudas to the equation (10-team NTC) to give Reinbacher time to "finish cooking" in Laval; maybe Trouba (12-team NTC) if the Ducks agree to future considerations (i.e., Price on September 2nd)
  23. Would he not be worth a considerable overpay?? We'd be set for years!
  24. So then the ask is likely Slaf or Caufield ... or Hage and the Habs 2026 first rounder (unprotected).
  25. Any thoughts on why it's been reported that he's unhappy in Anaheim. I understand that they've drafted a few other good players but you'd think he'd kind of be near the top of their list in terms of importantance and priority and assets. Any reasons why there's talk of him wanting a change of scenery? I read one report that he's tired of losing.
  26. I can definitely get behind this signing. If he can ever find his game he could absolutely develop into a quality middle 6 center. At this point in his career there are some pretty big question marks, but as many have already stated, it's a very low risk signing. Well worth the (little) risk.
