Injury news

Xhekaj acknowledged today that he played through the shoulder injury for most of the season and hit it from the team since he wanted to play.

Guhle confirmed he has a head injury but is hoping to play at the Worlds and has been invited to play.  Considering he's been skating for a few days now, I think he was probably pretty close to returning had the season gone on.

Players hiding injuries is something no training/medical staff can prevent and it means they can't protect the players.

"My son weighs about 25 pounds and I struggled to hold him in my arms for more than a minute without discomfort," he said Tuesday morning during a lengthy interview with La Presse.

Despite a "daily routine" that allows him to cope with pain, sitting or standing for a long time is now painful. Air travel, therefore, is "difficult".

"I got to a point where I couldn't go on," he says. "I spoke with the medical staff of what my life after hockey could look like if I didn't stop. There was a lot of doubt about how it would affect me in the long run. When we started talking about it, it became real. Life is long after the end of a career."

There's a report that Rafael Harvey-Pinard suffered a lower-body injury to the same leg as last season playing in a game with some of his former Rocket teammates.

Tough break (in-poor-taste pun intended).

4 months is a long recovery but he should be good for half the season hopefully.

I think the kid was already fighting for a roster spot and this doesn’t help.

he will probably end-up somewhere else on waivers claim. I like RHP, but once the AHL prospects turn the development corner, he will become a casualty of waivers

If hes out for four months.  He goes on IR and doesnt need waivers.

By the time he comes back.there could be other injuries, or the teams could have traded guys like Armia and Dvorak before they are UFAs.

There may be roster space for him to play and then he either proves himself or leaves.

The idea that he wont even get a chance seems short sighted

Guhle out at least the first week of training camp after having appendix removed.

Better now than when season starts I guess.

Just for context, my wife just went back to work today after removing hers via laparoscopy 12 days ago.

She had to avoid heavy lifting till now though.

My brother had a similar experience a few years ago ... although he (and respectfully I doubt your wife) was in the kind of shape going into surgery that Guhle was; or had the focused medical/physio support that Kaiden will get during recovery.

She stays fit and active but is no where near in regards to his conditioning.

But she’s also tough as nails.

So Reinbacher and Laine are injured.

With Laine: figures. We’re Habs fans, why should we get to have nice things.

What did we do to deserve this?  I guess we just wait for the bad news on the extent of the injuries.

My brother and I have a running half-joke...every time a Habs young player starts to blossom, or a Hab looks especially exciting, we say he's bound to suffer a massive injury. This usually seems to end up being the case.

Im just gonna assume Laine is done for the season.  If its better than that, i'll be happy.

Yup, better to expect the worst and then maybe just maybe be pleasantly surprised.

I feel really bad for Laine, trying to start new and then this. Not good for his mental health.

THAT is a legitimate concern.
