Not really. They boo chara and we all know why. What exactly has PK done to these teams to warrant the braying? They don't boo Weber or any other superstar I have seen unless there was bad blood.

He did take Staal out of the Penguins lineup in the playoffs.

Agree, and I still see most of fan frustrations as more unrealistic "lofty" expectation related.

When no one picked Habs to contend and at best squeak into playoffs, which is more realistic.

I know some are calling for team to tank, fire the GM, fire the coach, trade 1/2 the team; but aint happening.

Tanking again would be fun but next year would be better for that.

Fun? Odd take on that, but Habfans are an odd bunch I suppose.

Hey, if MB fires Therrien, that's no skin off my nose. But I seriously doubt it'll happen. I enjoyed Habs29's analysis and agree with chunks of it...but I also think that almost ANY coach can be picked apart for his decisions if we're of a mindset to do so. A coach has 20+ moving parts, endless issues to manage during a game, and has to continually choose from a vast menu of options. If the team loses, then you are automatically blamed for choosing wrong even where the other choices might have yielded the same result of worse. They're in a no-win situation in terms of backseat driving and fan analysis. Otherwise put, it doesn't matter who is coaching us; a great chunk of the fan-base will possess an arsenal of arguments opposing their decisions once the team slumps.

This isn't to say that all coaches are interchangeable, though. Some are indeed better than others. I see MT, myself, as part of an anonymous army of generic, 'average' NHL coaches who have about a three-year life span behind any particular bench. There's probably 20-30 coaches who could do a comparable job.

Anyway, what I really hope is that Bergevin is closely observing what's going on and drawing conclusions about who needs to go, who needs to stay, and what pieces the team needs to win. We can't keep going on with patchwork rosters, crossing our fingers on broken-down vets like Gio, useless human turds like Bourque, washed-up wastes of space like Briere. and 5th defencemen being pencilled in as #4s like Gorges.

In the meantime, it IS up to Therrien to get the team playing coherent team defence. I've always believed that D is fundamentally about coaching. If he can't turn around that aspect of our game, then - while it won't happen - I wouldn't mind seeing a Lou Lamoerello coaching switcheroo down the stretch. It would give the team a shot in the arm at the right time, while also signalling a certain ruthless will to win from the top.

Again, I have no issues with Murrey as #6 this year. I do have an issue with him and Bouillon and Diaz playing. I'd rather we rotate the kids on callups. Given the choice, I'll take murrey over Bouillon any day. But to sit Emelin and Diaz over playing Bouillon and Murrey makes no sense.

HABS29. Murray was Montreal's best D-man last night. With this current roster, I bet Murray starts consistently playing in that number 6 spot.

Honestly, I think the real issue in terms of the bottom half of the D is Bouillon. Murray is a classic one-dimensional D-man who does bring a much-needed asset to our blueline (punishing physicality). Bouillon is mediocre in all respects. If it were me, he'd be the odd man out, with Diaz and Murray reliably in the lineup.

I generally agree with you on sitting Diaz and Emelin, but there may be more going on than we know. I expect Emelin was getting sat anyway and certainly would have been as vulnerable as Markov was based on his current play. As for Diaz, he did just have the flu. Perhaps he had a terrible practice and they were not comfortable that he was going to be good enough. In the end Boo boo and Murray had pretty good games. Markov was the real problem and PK wasn't that great either.

When a decision seems to make no sense, I assume I don't have all the info. Most coaches are indeed rational.

I expect that will be the usual case going forward, with Murray swapping out on occasion.

Anybody think we can get a 6th or 7th round pick for boo boo? Anyone? It tells us a lot about our defence.

More like a 4th and what would you accomplish? to bump up Drewiski for playoff on playoff depth chart, if that is what you want, then sure?

Boullion is a fine experienced/character, depth d-man (that I have always been a fan of), which can be invaluable "if" happen to make 2nd round or farther.

Unless getting a 2nd round pick (or better) for Markov-Diaz, and only if they are looking for too much in a new contract, cant see any other d being shopped.

Malhotra, Ott or other centreman may be what Bergevin may look to add, but sellers wont want older players like #55.

Yeah, I don't see the point in moving Honey Boo Boo either, unless we are right out of the playoff picture by the deadline. He is the type of veteran that teams generally like to acquire when they're adding pieces for a playoff run; so if we're in the mix, we don't move him.

The defense that I would be looking to trade is Diaz. But this will not help the organization on the back end. To me, what the Canadiens need is a strong right handed number 3 defenseman to play on the right side, so Emelin can play the left side as a #4. Gorges moves down the depth chart as an overpaid #5 ( which is what he is) and Murray, Beauleu, Patyrn, Tinordi, Drewiski, and boullion fight it out for numer 6. The only way to get that right handed #3 is through trade. This becomes the challenge. My proposition has been to trade 51 and 61 for a third line grinder and a #3 right hander. This to me is the only way to get it done. But which team needs offense and has a stock of defensemen? Tough challenge for MB for sure.

I agree BCHabnut, the #3 Dman is a big issue, what about Pateryn? He shoots right, has decent size, and producing points while also playing a shutdown role and physical. He might not be this year's solution, but I don't think he is too far off is he? I would like to trade Diaz and DD, but for a winger with size for the top 6....

He has a low overall ceiling, I don't see him being much more than a #6 guy in the NHL - I don't think there's another level or two to his game like you want to see in your better prospects. He won't be able to fill a void at the #3 spot.

Nonsense... PK missed shifts for taking a selfish, useless penalty late in a scrum after the period ended and after Montreal got momentum. He took just as bad penalty as Boullion did DURING PLAY last night and neither missed a shift. If you can't see the difference then you are just looking to complain about MT.

Unless you have a better coach in mind or honestly believe that we are a top tier team under performing, then I see no reason to complain about MT. This team is a 500 team based on players and MT has done a reasonable job keeping them in the playoffs. All teams go through slumps and it isn't always the coaching. Usually, it is players not performing, getting run down, injured, or simply suffering from confidence issues.

I don't agree with every decision any coach makes, but I look to Bergevin to improve the roster before I throw a decent coach under the bus. Besides, we do not know what goes on behind the scenes, which can have a huge impact on coaching decisions, which otherwise look strange from the outside looking in.

It always amazes me that we all complain about the personnel on this team, yet expect MT to make them champions.

Hahaha. We humans are pretty funny things.

I could see Patteryn being moved in a trade at some point.

But, you must admit he also could be a bigger & better (with puck) version of Gorges.

It's a possibility, I suppose. I don't think we've seen much evidence that it could happen though. Pateryn is a jack of all trades type of player while Gorges is more of a specialist, I don't see Pateryn becoming a true shutdown blueliner that blocks a ton of shots down the road.

I was a big fan of Obyrne, Weber (who actually seems to be getting icetime with Canucks), Belle, Valentenko, Carle and other d-men that were busts, so my track record sucks.

But, will see if I am wrong again.
