Kostitsyns Linked to Crime Boss

So the Kostitsyn's and Hamrlik aren't involved in any illegal activities?

Then who cares?!

Chalk this up to the media looking for anything they can so they can write headlines like "Things get worse for the Canadiens"... how is it worse? They did nothing wrong.

This story isn't even real news to me. I think we've all had friends who would be considered a bit shady by the establishment, and it certainly doesn't make one a criminal when they are the friend of a criminal. This guy was the Kosty's party host...big deal. Unless I find out Andrei and Sergei were out collecting debts for this guy, buying drugs from him, or were present when he and his crew 'whacked' someone, I'm not worried about it.

The Habs' lack of a good centre is a bigger story than this!!!

Lapresse has dropped the ball once again. Did they do anything wrong ?? No. Are they accused of anything ?? No.

are they stupid because they gave their credit card numbers to the guy ?? Hell YEAH.

only one qusteion: how come a mature grown up Man Like Hamrlik got cut up into this crap ?? I can understand Andrei saying to sergei that the guy is trust worthy and sergei figured his brother wouldn't screw him, but Hamklik ??

And geeze, what do you know....it wasn't the kid from Yale being linked to Mobsters

so nobody with an Ivy league college degree has done anything stupid ever ?? come on !! If I follow your logic, no football player should be in trouble given that they mostly all come from universities.

I'm a well educated, well mannered person but I don't know how I would react, being 21-22, having a shyte load of cash with the entourage that goes with it.

And you don't seem to be too well educated by the way you extrapolated what I said, into your blurb above. I never said an Ivy leaguer hasnn't made mistakes. What I said was that it was less likely that it was Higgins, than other persons. And yes i firmly believe that Hggins was far more mature at 21 or 22 than the others at the same age. And thus more likely too steer away from trouble.

But maybe thats too complicated for you.

This is just terrible. I wish Rejean Tremblay would buzz off. I know others are reporting but he's going to be the guy who runs with this I bet.

Nothing is terrible - yet. So far the only thing we know is that the Kosty's knew this guy and he provided services for them. None of our guys has been arrested and charges have not been filed. That indicates that our players were not involved in any of the guy's illegal activities. For all we know, the guy got them rides when they were too drunk to drive, set up parties, and got them good vodka from back back home. After all the rumors of police waiting at the airport, were Andrei or Hamrlik even taken in for questioning last night? I haven't heard anything about anyone missing practice. If they were up all night answering questions, they wouldn't have been at practice this morning.

They had to have been buying female escorts(hookers) and at least weed..............and probably coke. Hopefully the cops can't prove it.

Man, how many times have we seen Andrei looking stoned on the bench. Too many.

And you know this for fact or you are just assuming?

I'd be carefull throwing stuff like that around without anything but opinions on the subject.

As for Andrei looking stoned....what can I say the guy is just ugly and he has always looked like that.

Well, that takes care of the hooker part . hahahaha....

Careful for what? The Montreal media has done enough. I don't think any little thought I may fart out on Habsworld.net is really going to put a dent in anything I need to worry about.

So if this guy "Magnolia" King Pin crime ring leader Mafioso has Big and Little's credit card numbers, I can safely assume it's not for a back rub or a dozen roses.

My point is, for the sake of the Montreal Canadiens and us fans Hopefully Magnolia's records don't show what they spent it on. We need them right now. Otherwise I don't give a crap what happens to them, they probably deserve it.

and don't forget they have a criminal history stealing purses and what not. Also guilty of impersonating hockey players of late. and bob in his interview did say there was a player that did not put his bus token in the box. Federal crimes commission needs to be appointed right now.

Carbonneau déçu

De son côté, l'entraîneur Guy Carbonneau était tout aussi préoccupé que son directeur général.

"C'est inquiétant et décevant", a mentionné Carbonneau. "On veut mieux encadrer nos joueurs.

I think it's a good reaction by Carbo. He says: there's a problem, we'll fix it. Didnt went into denial or pointed fingers. He said they're like children, sometimes you give so much rope they hang themselves, but from now on the rope will be short (on a tight leach), and a whole lot shorter.

Then he puts things in perspective: if there was as many medias, cell phones and the internet back in my days, we'd also have been in trouble...

Yeah... but the difference is that in Carbo's era they had good reasons to party. They were warriors. They've been through the Good Friday Massacre. They've won a Cup, they've had epic, bloody battles against the Nords, Bruins, Flyers. They were the best defensive team in the league year after year, they had playoffs success.

What are the current Habs' claim to glory? 1st place in Eastern Conference? Woop-dee-doo.

But hey, the fans arent that much better. Burning cop cars after a 2nd round win?

Man, the past few years really lowered everybody's expectations...

This is exactly right. What we have here are players that have been bathing in all the goodies and adulation and self-indulgences that become available to you because you are a Montreal Canadien. And what is utterly disgusting is that they not only have done nothing - nothing - to deserve it, they are by their behaviour sh*tting in the faces of the organization that gave them this opportunity. They want, feel entitled to, the night life and adulation of Guy Lafleur. But they don't want to work like he did, play like he did, or win like he did? F*ck them.

I understand the argument that they're kids, they're learning, boys will be boys, etc.. Nonetheless, they may never play again on a team that had as much talent and potential as this one. That's what's so frustrating: you only get so many chances. They might 'mature' next year or the year after, have a really strong team - only to get derailed by injuries or bad luck. They might 'mature' and end up playing for a middle-of-the-road team their whole lives (c.f. Koivu). It's a waste of a golden opportunity, and why? Because they're too busy being punks.

While I'm ranting, I also don't know how these clowns can even look Bob Gainey (Bob Gainey!!) in the eye. One of the great champions and living examples of dignity and class in the history of the sport. A man who has lost his wife and daughter and does everything they could have asked of him to provide them with the opportunity to be winners. This is how they repay him, and the fans.

Punks.

I remember reading an article about Ovechkin lately (Maxim I think) the reporter was following him around for a day. By the end of the article, they're in Ovie's car driving somewhere. And Ovie gets impatient because of traffic going too slow. So Ovie says something like "Here in America, there's too many rules. In Russia you want to do something, you do it"

Wither or not the quote is accurate, the spirit isnt entirely false. I'm getting the sense that it's the mentality some of those guys from Russia are bringing over here. The Kostys for one, Perezhogin, Radulov & Valentenko jumping ship, Malkin, etc.

You might say it's just the Russians, but you know the story about rotten apples spoiling the lot. Sometimes all it takes is a couple of guys not marching in tune for the rest of the band to get pissed and demoralized. Add to that some kids with apparently little self-discipline who all think they can have the lifestyle of Lafleur and Iafrate (Price, Higgins) and you've got a general tendency toward self-indulgence.

Can't wait for Carbo & Co to shorten the leach. I except some of those guys won't be too happy to have Kirk Muller yelling at them to butt out.
