  1. I can’t see SJS who are earlier in their rebuild trading a top 15 pick to get more picks and prospects. I think they will be a lottery team with top3 odds in 2025 as well. They should and probably will be trying to stock up on quality over quantity. I think along with Chicago they are pretty much a lock for a bottom 3 finish.
  2. Everyone faces racism, many face much more than others. Everyone? I’d have to disagree. Not sure how you can say Sakic, Gretzky, Lafleur, Lemieux, Bobby Orr, Crosby, McKinnon faced ANY racism in hockey.
  3. I thought the same thing. On the flip side, Makar, who only is an inch taller and 7lbs heavier than Hughes, had been unstoppable. i think part of Hughes issues is that this is the first year he’s been there, where there are big expectations on him. He had a good playoff as a rookie, but other than that doesn’t have a lot of playoff experience, and this year as a captain and Moreis candidate, it’s the first time he has to deal with the really high expectations. on the other hand, Makar has already been through the playoff grind, won a cup, and has the confidence to appear unstoppable. Vancouver seemed a lot more jittery once Demko went down, and that’s because guys are trying to compensate by either trying to do much, or just being more nervous and less confident. It’s easier to perform when there are no real expectations (like Hughes as a rookie), than when you are expected to drive the offence AND as a dman, compensate for the loss of your #1 goalie.
  4. March wasn’t suspended for a being racist or for a racial slur. He was suspended for a slip of the tongue🙄
  5. Everybody faces racism? Really? So most white guys face the same amount of racism as a minorities? Really? So Crosby faces racism? Sakic faced the same amount of racism as Subban?
  6. Or what about Pang’s Freudian slip that PK needs to learn to play the “white” way.
  7. Getting two picks in the top 12-15 would be ideal. Would probably allow us a SLIGHT chance to get one of the following combos: -Helenius/ Eiserman or Iginla -Parekh Eiserman or Iginla ideal situation is we win the lottery AND trade up to the 10-12 pick range. If are lucky enough to win the lottery, I think we’d be one year away from having the pieces not only to be a playoff team, but two years away from being a legit contender. This draft is crucial, can’t have a KK type Fxck up. There are some seriously good forward prospects this year, and if we can get the right guy it make make up for passing on Leonard last year. I would have preferred taking Leonard last year and Parekh this year. Irrespective of the draft, we need at least two forwards in addition to a healthy Dach to make meaningful progress next year. I doubt if there is anyone we draft that makes a huge difference next year. That’s why as much as I’d like us to move our Winnipeg pick and young D and/or other picks, to get a higher first round pick, I think Hughes will probably move the first pick in another Dach/Newhook type deal.
  8. I was also a university student during the 93 cup run. I was doing an internship during the spring/sunmer and didn’t get off until game time. Missed the first period of game 1 because of the time it took to get home. For game two, Instead of going home and missing part of the game, I went to the gym at work and watched the game 2 while working out. It was a marathon workout session with the OT. I left work early for game 5, and got a lot flack at work for leaving early to watch a hockey game!!! It was definitely worth it. I still remember Roy’s awkward “going to Disneyland” plug, that seemed to be common for MVP’s those days. Haven’t seen anyone do that in a long time.
  9. And using $8.5m of your cap (would also be the highest paid player)( for a third line centre isn’t costly?? We need to boast the second line, and add more scoring. Don’t necessarily need a centre as the priority. If we do get a centr it’s someone go can be a 1b type of second line centre and then Dach can play the wing. those two aren’t the only two options. PLD is with his third team and has yet to have a good year where he was a consistently good player for the ENTIRE season.
  10. $8.5m for 7 years for a guy who doesn’t show up in more games than he does? No thanks. If he wasn’t French there wouldn’t Ben be a discussion about trading for him.
  11. I’m just going by the tugboats for battleship comment. What reason is there to trade Caufield for Zegras, other than size? Only reason Caufield was draft as low as he was his is his size. St. Louis never really got a chance in Calgary because of his size. I’m pretty sure they regretted that when Tampa beat them in the finals! We need to add more scoring. You don’t do that by trading away the guy who will probably be leading your team in goals for the next 5 years.
  12. Sure if you know you are actually giving up a tugboat, and are actually getting a battleship. how would have a Martin St Louis for Montreal’s #7 overall pick have worked out at the 2001, before St Louis had his big breakout? Small tugboat St Louis to Montreal, so Tamp could draft the potential battleship Komisarik (or players drafted after him like Rutto, Sjost9rm, Hanif’s, or Hemsky)? I’m sure Tampa’s happy they didn’t trade their tugboat for a potential battleship!
  13. I didn’t notice that you included the ducks’s top 5 pick - high isn’t as big of an overpay. I’d still be hesitant in trading a guy who still looks to be at least a future 40 goal scorer AND has shown signs of becoming a more complete player, for a guy who was drafted higher, but may not be the better player. I think a deal like this could come back to haunt us like the Leclair/Desjardins deal did.
  14. I’ve got the Habs Roy “the wink” socks😀
  15. No. It was up to Ronald Corey and Houle being idiots and choosing the drunk Tremblay - who had an issue with Roy from the time he was a rookie. Roy actually did try and stay after he cooled down.
