I clearly want Edmonton to win for a couple reasons: 1) I live in Edmonton, so I cheer for the Oilers if the Habs aren't in it but I certainly don't lose any sleep if the Oilers lose, my attachment is marginal 2) If the Oilers win then it improves the Winnipeg pick by 1 spot The Canucks simply can't afford to taken any bad penalties as the Oiler power play is so dangerous. A lot depends on Skinner, he played really well against LA. I don't think you can say Silvos is significantly better than Skinner based on such a small sample size although it wouldn't be the first time a rookie goalie came out of nowhere to shine in the playoffs. I get why people are more likely to cheer for Vancouver, they are the underdog (although they had more points), have never won the cup before etc etc should be a fun series. McDavid is very motivated.

If Silvos plays like he did last night then Canucks have a chance. Im banking on Pettersson having the room to make a significant impact this series as well. If Hughes can fly and Pettersson can fly then Skinner is in trouble. I clearly want the Canucks to win 🏆

Engstrom/Guhle/Harris are 'able' to play RH-d if need be (not preferred of course), if do trade Barron, Kovacevic or Savard. Hutson isnt a normal d-prospect and I dont think his 2 points & 22:43/game in 2 NHL games is a "Poehling-like" start to NHL career. More like an Adam Fox, who jumped from NCAA to NHL with 42point rookie season, is my guess.

I think Pettersson and Hughes will have significantly more room to move and create plays. I also think Vancouver has significantly better goaltending - be it Silvos or Demko. Of course, Vancouver better stay out of the box because Edmonton is dangerous

Not only was I on a BC Ferry during the game, but it was an older model of ferry with no TV hookup. So I was reduced to following the game via spotty cell reception - actually missed Suter’s goal. Oh well. I was glad they started Silovs. I liked his swagger in the earlier games. He just seems to have that “it” factor that some guys have. That was an absolute meat-grinder of a series; almost a caricature of NHL playoff hockey (right down to the bizarre refereeing that is always a talking point at this time of year). Obviously the Canucks will not be favourites against mighty Edmonton - BUT. It will be a wildly different series and might come as a relief to Vancouver. Plus Van has zero pressure now, while EDM has a ton of it. Vancouver is also an elite defensive team capable of grinding with the best of them. If they can get Pettersson going - a big “if” - and if they can continue to get stellar netminding - another big “if” - then an upset is far from impossible.

I've been known to be wrong, but I think the preference would be to move a deep LD pool over a thin RD pool. I would pump the brakes on expecting Hutson in the NHL next year. It'll be his first season out of university, so no professional hockey experience. I also know some will point to Caufield did it with nearly no AHL tenure, but forward, especially wing, is the easiest to transition to. Guhle also did it with no real AHL tenure as well, but he came from the WHL, which is regarded as a higher level of competition than the NCAA. Defensemen take longer to season, especially if they've never played professionally. It's why I said earlier Hutson and Reinbacher will take at a year or 2 to be NHL regulars.

Yes, there can be exceptions to size but they're usually incredibly good or elite players. ex: Patrick Kane is small too, Marchessault is small and isnt elite but he works out because he's on a big team. Are you sure Crosby was 190 when drafted? It says he's 200 lbs now so he is avg size but see he's only gained 10 lbs which is a super low amount. Imagine if Catton maxed out at 173lbs - realize that he's not at the level of being Kane, Crosby, or Celebrini, good. Although I prefer larger players I don't have any issues with small players but they have to be great and/or strong for their size. Being small and weak simply doesn't work.

The only moving up from 5th that I thought might be possible was if the Yotes finished before the Habs. They did not plus they are no longer the Yotes anyway. I doubt any of the teams ahead of them are willing to trade spots and even if they would it probably wouldnt matter anyway. ex: if they're taking a dman and would let Hughes pick before them the F would still be available. No clue why so many want to flip the Jets pick to move up and get a dman when there is a dman available at the Jets pick. ex: Cole Hutson. However, that depends on what happens with the lottery. If the Habs move up Cole might still available at their 2nd rnd position. If they dont move up or move back Cole wont be available with their 2nd rnd pick. They are saying most of those prospects are small because average size is 6' 200lbs so players under that size are being called small. ex: Helanius is 5'11" 180lbs, so will he gain 20lbs to be 200lbs? I think he'll be 195lbs max -so he'll be close to average. However, Catton is only 163 lbs so he might not even reach 180lbs. Catton would be a good fit if Newhook was 6'2"+ 210+ lbs. If the Habs take Catton the rest of their picks should be players that are 6'3"+ 200+ lbs.

To move up we need the following to happen: 1) Edmonton to beat Vancouver (I think a good possibility) 2) Colorado to beat Dallas (I think that's about 50/50, two pretty equal teams). If Colorado plays Vegas then it doesn't matter who wins 3) The winner of Boston-Toronto to beat Florida (very unlikely in my opinion). Worst case scenario is 27, best case is 24, most likely 25 or 26.

Barron is getting moved I feel for sure as he is now waiver eligible? I actually think two of Barron, Harris, Kovacevic and Struble will be moved this off season to make room for Hutson, who has immediately supplanted them all and is in top 6.

I feel Hutson has immediately shot up our depth chart and is in our top 4, or top 6 at the very least... For this reason, Guhle will remain on the right side. I also wouldn't rule out Guhle partnering Hutson on a 2nd pair.
