  1. Based on where the Habs are now and not counting on any lotter luck, Eiserman and Lindstrom will likely be gone but Catton or Helenius still sound good. Looking at the history of drafts, I know there are busts in the top 10 but there are also really good players found in the 10-20 range. Maybe an outlier, but pasternak was taken at 25
  2. Catton, Lindstrom, Eiserman, Iginla, Helenius or Other? I'm assuming we'll be picking 4-9 range
  3. I think we've seen enough, on ice and off. He is supposed to be in his prime right NOW. Bullet dodged. Maybe Hughes knew all along. I wonder how much of an influence Bergevin had on bringing him to LA?
  4. Yes, absolutely. No one expected this team to contend for the playoffs and that was assuming Dach and Newhook were going to play the majority the games. Good news is they're going to pick up another good player at he draft this year
  5. Something that may show that the Habs have over achieved a little based on their record this season. They have the worst goal differential in the Eastern conference and only the sharks, Blackhawks and ducks are worse in the whole league.
  6. Hope slafkovsky is okay. Wouldn't surprise me if he sustained a concussion on the hit, he stayed down for a while. I think I can say I've seen enough of Barron. He definitely has some solid offensive skills but the defensive gaffes are too much for me.
  7. If anyone has any doubts about MSL, watch this video. I considered myself to have a decent understanding of the game but after watching this, my knowledge is clearly very surface level compared to a man like this. Considering everything we know about him, it makes sense that he has spent a lot of time in his life contemplating the game.
  8. What's really impressed me is the defensive side of the game that he's shown. Often right place right time in our own end. Just want to see him be more selfish and shoot more.
  9. I don't think the coaching staff is the problem. There are of course other issues with the roster, but the loss of Dach really impacts the roster. With him healthy the jobs of Suzuki, caufield, Monahan, Newhook and Slafkovsky would all be easier as he makes those around him better and it's harder for opposing teams to key in on Suzuki defensively. I'm sure we're missing the small things Savard does as well.
  10. Call me a foolish optimist but I still think Gallagher has something left in the tank, even if he doesn't reach 30 goals again. The body may be banged up but you don't loose the compete. Also he was playing with Danault when he was doing really well so I think it will help him to have a good center to play with. I was also seeing positive things Pearson in the preseason. He was in the right places at the right times and making smart decisions with the puck.
  11. Looking forward to hopefully seeing progress and good signs from Slaf, Newhook, Dach and Guhle Should be a fun game
  12. Not sure if this is right thread, but saw from The Hockey Guy that Michkov is already a healthy scratch at SKA for whatever that's worth.
  13. I'm pretty sure Reinbacker has stated multiple times that he wants to play in Kloten this upcoming year and finish his schooling.
  14. If Newhook stays healthy this season, I'm expecting him to break the 40 point mark. He's young, so I expect him to keep improving and I expect he'll get more opportunities in Montreal than he did in Colorado. Based on the highlight packages I've seen he's a skilled guy with good compete. 50 points is definitely not out of the question.
  15. I don't want Michkov. Not a comment on his skill but I fear that it will be thought getting him to North America. Assuming Smith and Karlsson ect. are gone who else is looking promising? Who's the guy people want other than Michkov?
  16. One solitary proven NHL defender... Should be interesting
  17. Mtl is getting the pick, not giving it.
  18. If the Canadiens were considering taking Slavkovski, don't you think they would have taken him to a dinner too?
  19. What are the chances that Wright does not go First? Lots of chatter, but it is all just click bait? I'm no expert but personally I want Wright, especially since he's a center.
  20. 2 goals was good but it was looking a little scary when it was 1-0. The wings almost made it 2-0 a couple of time. The team seems to have woken up now. The team also seems to have tendency to get down on themselves when things aren't going their way which only makes the problems worse.
  21. Jason Demerse is still UFA. We might be up against the cap and Savard might already fill our quota on the right side. Might be a interesting player, a local guy as well.
  22. I have to say I am quite disappointed with the decision to let him walk. Obviously I believed in KK to develop into an impact player. As a third overall pick I trusted that the team had done their due diligence in drafting the player. From what I observed he was showing great promise, namely his hockey IQ and what I considered a strong performance from such a young player in the playoffs. Maybe this was poor drafting, maybe this was the team rushing a young player. Personally I do subscribe to the idea that 99% of the time teenagers should not play in the NHL. There is a big difference between 18 and 20 and very few players development has been hampered by leaving them in the minors too long. Another possibility is that the relationship between KK and management had degraded to the point that his exit was simply a matter of time. Regardless of the reason, I think it would be pretty difficult for management to defend their asset management in this case. You don't want to be put in such a terrible and awkward loose loose position with such a young and promising asset. The kid is only 21 and there is such a wide range of potential outcomes his development could take. Bottom line, I don't like how the whole situation unfolded and from what the outside appears to be hard headedness from the general manager is quite concerning. It makes it hard to cheer for this team when promising young players are consitantly not meeting team / media created expectations or leaving. All this said, I though Galchenyuk was on the cusp of breaking out as well.
