dlbalr
Straight cap dump, that means there's a D signing on the horizon most likely.

Colin
So, seriously, I think we should retire Gorges number when he retires. He refused TO to go to the worst team in hockey. That's effin brilliant.
DON
well Gilbert it is bigger and RH d-man
Habsfan
is it a 2nd round pick in 2015 or 2016?? I hope its 2015!
ForumGhost
For Gilbert?! Bleh... such a bad taste in my mouth. Gorges was a heart and soul guy, a leader, and a defensive anchor. How do you think the locker room will react to this?
The Chicoutimi Cucumber
Gilbert?? How is his defensive game? 'cause I don't like all those minuses in his stat column.
Habsfan
Gilbert?? How is his defensive game? 'cause I don't like all those minuses in his stat column. don't forget that he was playing with the Oilers!!! Not easy to have a positive +/- with the oilers!!! Lovett's Magnatones
Gilbert?? How is his defensive game? 'cause I don't like all those minuses in his stat column. Something else is on the way, unless we just severely downgraded....
The Chicoutimi Cucumber
Yeah, but he was a minus with Minny too. I don't know much about Gilbert and I know a lot about Gorges. It boils down to whether we just weakened ourselves defensively. Otherwise put: would you trade Gorges for Gilbert, a 2nd-rounder, and about $1 mil in cap savings? (When you put it that way...probably! Nonetheless, it's not clear that this makes us a better team right now).

dlbalr
Write-up on this and the Gilbert signing: http://www.habsworld.net/article.php?id=3446 (I know they're brief but with so much happening so fast, I can't go into major details...) Habsfan
Gorges is speaking right now on TSN. you can tell he's devastated by this. I feel for the guy! Good luck Josh!!!
The Chicoutimi Cucumber
I have never felt so much affection and respect for Josh Gorges as at the moment of his departure. Refusing to play for TO is enough to earn him my eternal respect as one of the true blood-and-guts Montreal Canadiens of his era. All the best to a good man and a fine player.
