Mont Royale
Any guesses? I think it will be the younger guys like Carle, Maxwell etc Urquhart as well. We will see. Probably true... but I've heard that Maxwell has done quite well. He might be rewarded with a longer stay than expected.
The-Habby2919
Yeah I think Maxwell will be sticking around for a bit longer... Goalies will probably stay. Other than that I dont know. :hlogo:
Dutch_Habs_Fan
Wot's up with Urquhart, he looks more and more that he's not going to make it. Big talent, but almost always the first one to drop. And still not an AHL plaker (i believe). Somebody more info on the guy?

Mr. Nasty
Wow, that is quite a bit. No sense in keeping the guys around if they are not close to making it. The veterans showed over the last 2 games they need more practice.

Colin
Kosty Jr. will be angry. lol Good to see the Habs being intelligent. Nothing more wasteful than keeping on talent that isn't up to par (yet) taking up valuable playing and coaching time from those who can make a difference this year. A fast cull like this gives Carbo et al the opportunity to get the team squared away and better gelled than if there were still bucketloads of players. huzer
Considering the Habs game plan with S Kotstisyn all along was to see what he could do as a leader in London, I'm not the least surprised that he was cut. No shocks amongst the cuts here...

Tony
Goaltender Cédrick Desjardins ----> Not surprised here, he has too much depth ahead of him and he'll be fighting for a spot in Hamilton if Halak and Danis both get sent down. I wouldn't be surprised if he got sent to Cyclones if Halak and Danis are between the pipes. Forwards Michaël Lambert ---> Will try to earn a AHL spot (good luck, Desjardins will be waiting for you with the Cyclones) Mathieu Aubin ---> Will likely get an AHL contract (or NHL two-way deal). He's been playing great and the Bulldogs could use a player like him. Matt D’Agostini ---> I wouldn't completly count on him getting a AHL deal (or NHL two-way deal) yet. He's been good at the Habs camp but I wouldn't be surprised if he gets send back to the WHL or goes in the ECHL. Eric Manlow ---> Had no chance of playing in Montreal. No point to keep him there and got sent to Hamilton where he belongs. Duncan Milroy ---> Unless a drastic improvement occurs, this guy will most likely be a career AHLer. Wouldn't be surprised if he leaves or doesn't get re-signed by the Habs. Gregory Stewart ----> Have fun in the ECHL. Hamilton might need an energy player but I wouldn't count on him yet. Cory Urquhart ----> Will fight for an AHL spot but good luck trying to take one away from the top 6 forwards if he wants to play on the top 2 lines. Jimmy Bonneau ----> Could make the AHL. That league still needs enforcers in it or else it's back to the ECHL. Francis Lemieux (injured) ---> Might be injured but he'll still be in the AHL next season. Defensemen Jon Gleed ---> Will play in Hamilton next season. Depending on who the Oilers sent to the Bulldogs, if it's a defencemen, if not I expect him to be in the AHL. Andrew Archer (who's injured) ---> Will be on the AHL team. To the CHL Forwards Ben Maxwell (Kootenay - WHL) & Sergei Kostitsyn (London – OHL) --> Both were fighting for an AHL spot (I think Maxwell was an over-ager if I remember right). Anyway, I expect these guys to make the AHL team next season. Can't have too many rookies in one AHL season. Defensemen Mathieu Carle (Acadie-Bathurst - QMJHL) ---> Not eligible for AHL, next stop is QMJHL. Should have a good season. Next cut predictions. Jaroslav Halak (G). Andre Benoit and Danny Groulx (D). Ajay Baines and Corey Locke (F). First "surprise" cut is Jonathan Ferland. That's my guess.

kaos
The most frustrating thing about Cory Urqhuart is that Patrice Bergeronm Dan Fritsche and Matt Carle were taken 5, 6 and 7 spots after him. Can't believe Andre Savard blew that one???

hankhab
No surprises with the cuts today..I think Carbo will quickly pare down the roster, and hopefully get the set lines going, well before the season starts. The only late cuts will be the guys who actually have a real chance of making an impact..Latendresse, Kostitsin, Chipchura, etc. And, if Latendresse and Kostitsin aren't ready for 2nd or 3rd line, they will be cut as well. I think Chipchura, as a 2 way player, might hand around as a fourth line guy, getting 10 to 12 minutes a game in NHL, if he really impresses at camp.
