  1. The IceCaps (26-23-8) will wrap up their latest 3-in-3 run this weekend as they take on the Marlies (29-23-5) for a pair of games. Toronto sits three points ahead of St. John's for third in the North Division which makes this a huge couple of games if they want to have any shot at moving up the rest of the way (and Utica is right behind the IceCaps for the final spot as well). Hudon - Terry - Carr Matteau - de la Rose - Friberg Farnham - Audette - Scherbak Broll - MacMillan - Gregoire Hanley - Redmond Lowe - Johnston Brouillette - Lernout Danis Moore - Greening - Griffith Timashov - Kalinin - Kapanen Rychel - Gauthier - Johnsson Letourneau-Leblond - Laich - Camarenesi Campbell - Holl Dermott - Oleksy Nielsen - Wrenn Bibeau Puck drop is at 5:00 PM EST Saturday and 3 PM EST on Sunday. AM 930 has the call for both games. Saturday's game is also available on TSN2 (although you might want to watch on mute - it's the Leafs TV feed and their PBP guy is tough to listen to).

  2. 5 in row has a really nice ring to it. Let's just go do it. Embarrass them in their own building. Paper bags for all rangers fans.

  3. What I don't like about baseball is the way the game can drag on for hours in extra innings. I have come up with the perfect solution to this problem. I suggest that if after 9 innings the game is tied the teams play one inning with 6 men on the field and nobody allowed to line up outside the infield before the pitch . If after that extra inning the game is still a draw the game should be decided in a home run derby! Now that would be exciting!

  5. One thing for sure..this kid can score ...so let him shoot from the high slot -- a la #67. its clear to everyone, including my 90 year mother, MB needs to somehow find a bonafide centerman to feed him . always with the caveat that it's easier said than done. as for #27, are we afraid he might become, say, another Phil Kessel?? A one-way, one dimensional player - well, let's see - Kessel has 21 goals so far and prolly end up with ~30 this year again. I'm not really comparing him to Kessel...but my point is Not every player is cut out to be a two-way player. The Habs have a bit of a history of not letting pure goal scorers be just that. Chucky is an EXCITING player to watch. As pure a goal scorer as MaxPac on a team that needs goals.. Is #27 good in his zone? Meh. Is he good in the face off circle? Meh,Does he win his battles for the puck? Meh...Does he play small? Meh, he plays kinda small for a 6'1" 210 pounder....So okay. We all know this in spades by now ...its hard to watch over and over again. The only reason Danault is still on the top line is because he is very responsible with and/or without the puck, AND still manages to generate some offense. I blame the genius for Galchenyuk's slow development when it comes to a solid two-way game...he kept putting DD and a host of others at C instead of #27. MT was an idiot who cost us PK and will probably cost us N8 (also another victim of MT's ego and lack of coaching skills), and he seriously delayed #27's overall development. One thing is for sure, this team is starting to look and feel differently ...and that in of itself, is very exciting development.

  6. I called the score of this game, and it was the start of this 4 game win streak. Excuse me while I go buy some Lotto 6/49

  7. 7 points in 7 games under Julien. I don't think people realize just how good that is.... if you go with the fact that he was a PPG player for 45 games before his injury, and that he is a PPG player again now... and call the first few games after his return the outlier due to the fact he needed to get up to game speed, then what you see is a PPG player over a large sample. A PPG player would be someone firmly in the top 10 in NHL scoring, at any position. If thats what he is doing, surely we can live with him being less than perfect defensively (even though he is a positive possession player). This team can't score. There shouldn't even be a discussion of "having enough of Galchenyuk", one of the best players on the team (and one of the best in the league for that matter) at generating offence.

  8. What a depressing thread... glad I watched the game instead of reading everyone's negative comments. Cheer up gang, 4 wins in a row!

  9. Everybody loses, and when we see what Shea looks like in two months, Bergevin will lose his job.

  10. I always felt bad for Desharnais and much of it comes from being a total prick as a young teenager back when Patrice Brisebois was Whipping Boy #1. I was young and blamed the player instead of the role the player was given.

  11. DD in Montreal was a pretty cool story. To go undrafted with low speed and small size and rely on vision and smarts to become a .5 ppg player over 500 games. He was over used by MT but that was not his fault. He was never a first or second line centre but managed to produce for a few years in that role. I hope he does well and picks up a job after this year. Wish him well.

  12. *I could quote so many people* I'm not here to really praise the trade, I'm just happy with where we are because Weber is better than Subban even though Subban is a good player. Alright, now I know what it feels like to make delusional comments on this side of the fence as well.

  13. I'd be more upset about it if this had been the case - because it would have jeopardized Subban's position on the Habs, and perhaps forced a trade of a massive asset. By contrast, Pateryn is easily replaceable. But no, I stand by the argument that anti-French bigots are one thing that the Habs can't tolerate. As for 'getting over' the trade, I don't really understand the logic. If you think a trade is bad, you don't 'get over it' until it stops ramifying for your team - if then. This trade is certainly not a disaster on the scale of Chelios or Roy or McDonagh, but it would seem odd in retrospect to be telling fans to 'get over' those deals. 'Thibault is your goalie now! Get behind him and stop complaining!' So if someone sincerely thinks the Weber trade was a significant mistake, they're no more likely to get over it than they are to get over any other serious mistake by their team. There's no statute of limitations on the aggravation, any more than there is on the satisfactions we take in the team's triumphs. (By that measure, I'm not 'over' seeing them win the 1993 Cup in the Forum, either). Besides, my comment above (on Weber's excellence as 'axiomatic') was not directly a comment on the trade at all. It was more of a comment on the way Weber's defenders have tended to rely on myths and reputation rather than what he has actually done for most of this season. From about the 20 game mark, he has been a good #1 defenceman and no more than that. Weber is a sacred cow for many Habs fans; and I believe this is because the consequences of his NOT living up to his reputation are too demoralizing to face.

  14. You really don't think the team has improved in any discernible way, really though? I'm not saying everything is rosie, but c'mon man... A lot of great teams 3-4 years ago, like Anaheim, St.Louis, Boston, Tampa, even Colorado, Detroit and not so long ago Vancouver were all feared teams, now look at them. I think Bergevin is holding his own, he has stuck to what he said he would do in the first place, improve the club, without compromising the future, to build a perpetual contender. If this team is not a contender, with Price, Weber, Markov, Chucky, Patch, Radu, and Claude Julien as coach, then neither is Washington really...look at how they collapse year in year out in the playoffs, their scoring dries up, and their coach hasn't lifted a cup either... Everything is relative.

  15. Yep, if I had children that cried and whined like that, they would be banished to their room until the game was over...holy moly. Oh yeah, thank you Joe Lassiter!

  16. They did, he was twitchy in his seat and wasn't joining the chant for that ex-hab. Pulled out another victory and hopefully Gallagher has monkey off his back and now lets see Lehkonen with hat trick vs Rangers on Sat!

  17. Without actual knowledge of what exactly is going on behind closed doors, is 99% speculation and assumptions...like with Hudon...why hasn't he been with the Habs as he has produced when called up and ever since he turned pro? I would guess vast majority of fans think he should be playing and could add more offense than Mitchell-Flynn-Ott-Andrighetto-etc, but likely only Habs Mgmt knows exactly what their expectations and plan is for him.
