EDIT : Pearn was Martin's assistant in Ottawa and assistant in the last 4 years NYR. Groulx was Martin's goalie coach in FLA. The Chicoutimi Cucumber
I liked the Martin hiring, and I guess that means that you have to take what comes with it. I'm sure these are competent guys. The only fly in this ointment is looking at their histories...Ottawa, Florida, the NY Rangers (!)...it's kind of a track record of failure. But I suppose that you have to lose before you win; maybe they're due!

Sir_Boagalott
The one person who Martin has worked with in the past that would definitely excite me is Frank Jay. C'mon Martin get'er done!! The Habs really need to start drafting non NCAA players in the high rounds who might actually be in a Habs jersey before the new big 3 contracts are up. Wouldnt that be nice for a change. tomh009
yes koz. not sure im excited about "his folks" does he hire them because he knows them, or because they are good... I'm 100% certain that he brings them with him because he believes that they will help him (and the team) be successful, not because he likes having a few pints with them after a game. Hopefully his confidence is well-placed ... especially we need good G coaching (I think the raw material and talent is there).

TheBigRedC
I like Groux. I always enjoyed his "Goalie Scouting Reports" whenever I'm down at the BankAtlantic or watching the Habs play on FSN:F hehe.
alexstream
Yah, heard more and read more about them. Pearn is the guy who helped Martin forge the 90's Sens into a winner. (albeit a playoff choker, will you say) Groulx is the guy who turned a backup Craig Anderson into a respectable goalie. Groulx also was video coach for some years. So he is an excellent technical guy (video coach) who proved that he could take it to the next level (turning Craig Anderson). It sounds extremely good to me. dlbalr
Didnt Frank Jay join the Habs scouting staff last year? Yep, he signed with the Habs midway through last season when the Sens let him go.
Sir_Boagalott
Yep, there was a disagreement with the Sens and the Habs poached him before Frank Jay and the Sens could reconcile their differences. Now all the Habs have to do is fire Timmins and let Jay have the reigns. Timmins and his tunnel vision regarding drafting so many NCAA picks out of the Tri-State area isnt working out. Timmins NCAA love affair needs to stop ASAP or the Habs wont draft anybody who will be able to play before Gomez, Gionta, and Cammalleri's contracts are up.
