simonus
http://www.torontosun.com/Sports/Hockey/20...639922-sun.html Jason Blake NOT happy. He falls short of criticizing the Leafs but is heralding too much love on the Isles. If you read between the lines, it's clear he is frustrated and this may blow up into a problematic issue for Toronto. What else is new? very interesting. This is the kind of story that warms my leaf hating heart. TO fans have often argued that Sundin has been hampered by ineffective linemates, a reasonable assertion. Now the Leafs go out and get a purported top winger and he basically says that Sundin doesn't know how to use a good winger. Hmmm...

jtvoxboi
that's funny. I love it when snipers who don't score blame their team mates. I hope Mr. Blake (it's not his fault) gets totally healthy (sincerely) , and prospers a trade out of "Feaf-land"! (for his own hard-working sake - man is this dude sweat-soaked after a game!) I've said Matts (it's not his fault) :puke: was never the same since the Nords... Wellwood (it's not his fault) :puke: is a testament to that... The way the TO media talks Tucker (injured)(it's not his fault) :puke: , Wellwood (injured - just back)(it's still not his fault), and Sundin (it's not his fault, but I scored a 'Sittler' - ride the media wave baby, ride the wave) :puke: should all have scored 40+ last season...but due to health...whatever, (it's called conditioning you overpaid group of low-drafts)... I, know, I know, every team deals with injuries, but no-one else is whining... Maybe once McCabe (injured) :puke: is healthy the Laughs will give him 40mins+ of ice time a game and he can score 40+ for the BIG BUCKS HE'S BEING PAID...nice moves JFJr....Man I'm nasty... It's the high value of the Canadian dollar that's causing this problem for the TML's... Heh...Heh...Heh... GO :hlogo: GO!
Cataclaw
Yeah but this thread is appreciated whereas our good pal Cataclaw launched it so it's here to stay. Thanks Athlétique! I didn't think this thread needed justification. After all, 90% of Habs fans hate the Maple Leaf. They are our rivals and so naturally we require a place to mock them. Athlétique.Canadien
We need more of that InsaneAVSfan Yes, we all love the weaf's and their fans. Some of the things they come up with. I have good friends who are leef fans. Many of them attribute Montreal's success after 1967 to having first francophone dibs on the amateur draft. Look at this sampling of all French players selected beginning in 1965 by teams other than the Canadiens. I'm attacking that foolish opinion that Montreal was so much better than Toronto because of imagined conspiracies of these "dibs". That is, Montreal always getting the French star. Quite frankly, if you study Toronto's draft history you see a continuing trend. A lack of drafting quality French players by Toronto...until they selected Damphousse. Andre Veilleux 1st 1965 Rangers, Luc Simard 64th 1970 Toronto, Gilbert Perreault 1st 1970 Buffalo, Serge Lajeunesse 1970 12th Detroit, Rene Villemure 31st 1972 Boston, 43rd 1972 Jacques Richard 2nd 1972 Atlanta Flames, Lanny McDonald 4th 1973 Toronto, Andre Savard 6th 1973 Boston, Bob Gainey 8th 1973 Montreal, Doug Jarvis 24th 1975 Toronto. I threw Jarvis in to illustrate a point. Good pick Laef's. Too bad he couldn't win for you. He could for the Habs but not for the leef's. Let us remember that in 1967 the ownership group of the eLaf's made a foolish error. They sold their two minor league affiliates, the Victoria Maple Leaf's and the Rochester Americans. Lost in this transaction were 45 future NHL players for the fLea's who would fill the ranks of other players. They didn't sell the farm, they burned it away But, I must regress. I mean, with Montreal & Toronto almost equal on cups after the Leaf's won in 1967, I think it's safe to conclude that the conspiracy argument is a big bunch of crap. Once again, it's not the leef's fault
BTH
I can understand what he's saying. Sundin isn't the type of guy you need to go out and get good linemates for. Both Blake and Sundin like to take shots and they both need to be the goalscorer on their respective lines. Wellwood is a playmaking center who can dish the puck out to Blake. That should be a better combination while Sundin works well with other big guys like Antropov. That being said, Blake is not a "40-goal scorer" despite last season's numbers. He is not worth the money he's getting paid and is not an elite winger. He's probably one of my favourite Leafs though.
Cataclaw
fLeas... lol. I see what you're doing there, Athlétique. Oh how I love to hate Toronto, aka Toroffto, Toronot, Boreonto, Tornoto, Slowronto Yeah, i must admit i do have some respect for Blake, and a tiny shred of respect for Sundin (which is a lot more than the respect I have for the likes of Tucker, McCabe, and the rest of the Maple Leifs). Habitforming
that's funny. I love it when snipers who don't score blame their team mates. Kinda sounds like Ribiero blaming Ryder a few years ago huh? I wonder if it turns out the same way ?

JMMR
Leafs were down 2-0 early in the second but scored 2 late ones in the 2nd and now they are headed to overtime.
Cataclaw
Leafs lost in a shoot-out, which is 1 point too many for the Leafs, but a loss is a loss. Good job Rangers.
BTH
Lundqvist played all 16 games of the season but then they decide to use Valiquette for the first time against, guess who, the Leafs. I was routing for Tucker to kick Avery's ass though, I think he's more sportsmanlike than Avery.

I would love to seem them attempt to throw simultaneous elbows and knees at each other, both would hopefully connect causing devastating career ending injuries. Cataclaw
Leafs lost tonight against our own :hlogo: That isn't what i came to post about though: NHL fines Leafs, Tucker A 1,000$ fine? For a guy making 3,000,000$?! That's the equivalent of fining regular a working Joe the incredible sum of ~ 15$.
JMMR
I was at the game tonight. Most Habs fans cheered after the win but exited quietly which is awesome I love the classy behaviour. I hate the Leafs and thier fans soo much though.
jetsniper
Is it just the Leafs who draft moronic weirdos? http://www.680news.com/news/local/article....114_091912_5800 TSN has an article too but it doesn't specifically say what he did so I had to go hunting. It's friggin hilarious though.

Athlétique.Canadien
I have sympathy but only so much. We all know how diligent and rigorous the NHL and the teams are on educating the rookie palyers on "what not to do" in the media and within their lives. For years back in the 60's and 70's they were advised to avoid one night stands because there are certain women out there who would exploit with blackmail etc. Did Tlusty miss these sessions? What was he thinking? There is nothing wrong with what he did but when you are in the public spotlight, right and wrong don't always factor in. His life style decisions are his to make and he has that right but he also has an obligation to the Leafs and the NHL.
