The Chicoutimi Cucumber
The anxiety about Markov's knee is understandable. We're rolling the dice: any chance of this iteration of the Montreal Canadiens becoming contenders hangs in the balance. If he goes down again, we are back to thinking in terms of contending 3-4 years down the line, with a new core. But ya gotta roll the dice at some point. We have no choice but to trust in the medical staff and Markov himself.
sakiqc
As per Luc Gelinas, RDS, Markov is the lone player not on the ice for morning skate. Leblanc is practicing on the 4th line with Darche & Nokia https://twitter.com/...964328415932417 Budaj is the starting goalie tonight https://twitter.com/...969317876084737 Kostitsyn-Plekanec-Gionta Cole-Desharnais-Cammalleri. Moen-Eller-Palushaj Leblanc-Nokelainen-Darche Gorges-Subban Gill-Diaz Emelin- St-Denis Weber and Markov are out. https://twitter.com/#!/BartsBytes
JMMR
Jesus Budaj is realy starting. I left my Gionta jersey in LA. I do not like to wear players that are not playing. I guess I wear my Richard t-shirt. Markov is not playing WTF?

JCPetit
Well. He won't be there. He hasn't practiced either, which is more troubling. Let's hope it's just a flu...
IN THE HEARTS OF MEN
its simply that he wont play back to back nights to start off his return... he and price will play in the tougher match up that is san jose tommorrow.. not to say we should be complacent tonight as anahiem has not lost 8 in a row for 6 years and only twice since '
dlbalr
Markov (or any of the other injured guys) didn't take the optional skate today. Lots can be implied from that.

They are close to coming back? Or will even play tonight? You have to figure if someone is close St Denis gets sent down

You have to figure if someone is close St Denis gets sent down I don't see anyone being sent down until the trip is over as it'd be tough to get someone back if more injuries strike. As to what can be inferred by his absence from the optional: - He's healthy and ready to go - He needs another therapy day - His knee has taken a turn for the worse and mass hysteria will soon set in - Something else is wrong with him (injury/illness) Plus, some sarcastic ideas that I'm sure funnier minds than mine can provide. Commandant
Per Engels Andrei Markov not skating today. In fact Andrei Markov stayed behind in Anaheim and is not even in San Jose with the rest of the roster. Strong suspicion he's had another setback. Team will not confirm why he stayed in LA or what he's doing.
dlbalr
There we go...even after the 4 notes I posted that it could mean, it turns out it could be something else entirely.

JMMR
One wonders how long he has been nursing this injury. He has not been himself not as much drive to the net and pull away speed.
Commandant
Out indefinitely. No timetable for return other than to say he's done for a minimum of this week and could be a lot longer.
Habsfan
Yeah, I just heard the same thing on l'Antichambre. Gionta out at least for the next week.
dlbalr
Gomez is close to returning at least. Regardless, it wouldn't surprise me to see one of Palushaj/Engqvist recalled to at least give them 12 healthy forwards on the roster. JMMR
If Gomez does come back I hope he plays the wing.... Wonder with Gionta out if AK or Eller will get some PP time?
dlbalr
If Gomez does come back I hope he plays the wing.... Wonder with Gionta out if AK or Eller will get some PP time? It'd be nice to see Gomez try the wing but as long as Eller is below average on the draw, that probably won't happen. As for PP time, Kostitsyn got 2:29 yesterday, Eller didn't see any. Commandant
If Gomez does come back I hope he plays the wing.... Wonder with Gionta out if AK or Eller will get some PP time? Seems to be AK Pleks Cammy together on one unit. Patches - DD - Cole on the second unit.
dlbalr
Think we should get this thread pinned... my 2 cents... No need, really. With all the injuries, this will never find its way too far down.
