Commandant Posted December 17, 2011 Posted December 17, 2011 Well some have gotten their wish. Will it make a difference? Time to wait and see. Randy Cunneyworth interim coach til the end of the season. Quote
dlbalr Posted December 17, 2011 Author Posted December 17, 2011 It's official. Cunneyworth takes over for the remainder of the season. Quote
lazy26 Posted December 17, 2011 Posted December 17, 2011 I'm really curious who will be the replacement (even if it's not this season). I really hope that they open up their options and forget about the whole language thing. Wishful thinking, I know. Quote
dlbalr Posted December 17, 2011 Author Posted December 17, 2011 Assistant GM Larry Carriere named assistant coach, taking Cunneyworth's spot. I must say that's a little underwhelming. Quote

JGC21 Posted December 17, 2011 Posted December 17, 2011 Is there a chance Muller can come back to coach the team this summer? Quote
JMMR Posted December 17, 2011 Posted December 17, 2011 Is there a chance Muller can come back to coach the team this summer? None unless the Canes fire him but they just signed him for 4 years. Quote
JoeLassister Posted December 17, 2011 Posted December 17, 2011 Not a big fan of mid-season coaching swap. Quote

JGC21 Posted December 17, 2011 Posted December 17, 2011 I gotta say, I like this move and think it's time for a change. Today's NHL needs new, young, fresh coaches and I'm excited to see what Cunneyworth can do. Just wish Muller was here. What about Weber for Muller and a pick? Should I post this in the rumor section? hab29RETIRED Posted December 17, 2011 Posted December 17, 2011 About friggin time!!!!! Hopefully the firing didn't happen too late like it did with NJ. I really hope we won't see the same approach by Cuuneyworth by giving veterans a free pass and constantly berating rookies and blaming them for the teams losses. I also hope that the habs finally play an attack style that is more suited to the speed they have. I'd also hope this means that as long ad the team has a guy like Leblanc up, he gets more ice time and is actually being played with SKILLED players, rather then playing with scrubs. Lastly, I hope this means Darche will NEVER be on the PP again and won't see more then 5-6 min until the Habs get healthy and after that will sit in the pressbox!!! But for now, all I can say is, HAPPY DAYS ARE HERE AGAIN!!!!!!! Hopefully we will be plaing a style that will get Cammy playing again and we won't be playing Pleks into the ground and AK46 will finally get a fair shake!!! 1 Quote

habscout Posted December 17, 2011 Posted December 17, 2011 Wow!! I thought Martin would be spared until the off season. I am a little surprised at the firing but it makes some sense. Let the rumour mill begin about the full time replacement. Quote

dlbalr Posted December 17, 2011 Author Posted December 17, 2011 As I suspect this will be a rather interesting discussion, I've uploaded a new smiley to 'commemorate' the occasion. I'll leave you guys to go find it (not that it's hard to do so). Quote
BTH Posted December 17, 2011 Posted December 17, 2011 I don't think this will improve the team but the good news is that the new coach doesn't speak French. Maybe it'll transition into our next (long-term) coach being Anglo too. Quote
KamalPanesar Posted December 17, 2011 Posted December 17, 2011 The move of Carrier behind the bench is interesting since he has never coached in the NHL. I think he will be Gauthier's eyes and ears...also, he speaks French so that will make a certain segment of the media happy. On another note, I did some digging and was told "there is more to come". Not on the management/coaching front, but more on the trade end. Habs have been scouting the Blue Jackets pretty hard lately so who knows. Either way, I think there will be some significant player movement on the horizon. Quote
