bbp
I'm still not convinced he's trading him to Toronto. It feels like a media narrative. Florida seems like the perfect location to me since Theodore can back up Schneider and further turn the Canucks into a former Habs dumping ground. Florida makes less sense then Toronto just because of that goalie prospect. Why have Lu's long contract when you have that guy sitting in the wings. They have both Jose and Clem who can be veteran backups and help show him the ropes, I mean unless they think they can make some kind of run right now... I just feel that Flordia's GM is a really smart man and won't want Lu's contact as well as Brian Campbell's restricting his ability to sign youth or continue to be aggressive via Free Agency. brobin
Edmonton really needs some defence and a goalie... 6-1 in the first period... Just ugly. At this rate, maybe they are aiming for Seth Jones.

Ended 6-3, same kinda game Canucks had against Anaheim, Detroit in their opener.... Note as well that Edmonton beat the Canucks in their previous game. This game is no indication that they need either new goal-tending or defense. Their defense isn't as bad as its made out to be.

bbp
Well... Having a hard time thinking about who your #1 dman really is could be an indicator of a bad defense... They may not have a number 1 this season... but Schultz (new one) will probably be that guy in a year or two. Plus Klefbolm, Smid, The other Schultz, Whitney and one of Fistric Petry Peckam Potter Sutton... Their D looks quite good in a year or two. Goaltending if Duby doesn't perform this season NEEDS to be addressed. But it won't hurt the team to give him one more season.

TurdBurglar
Anyone see the horrible call by the officials in the Oilers game last night? They called back 2 goals on the Oilers when they were down 1-0. Both goals should of counted. The first the official lost sight of the puck, it happens, it's forgivable. The second the official signaled goal for 20 seconds, Quick skated over, complained, the official nodded and talked to the other officials then called it off. No review, bad angles of seeing the play, taking the goalie's word for it. The interference was Quick's pad getting hooked up in Gagner's feet after Gagner was pushed into the goalie. Just a horrible decision on the official's part, never signaled no-goal at any point until after the conference with the other officials. It did show there are hockey gods, Yakupov scored with 4.7 seconds lefts and Gagner scored in OT to win. Those officials need some serious disciplinary actions. dlbalr
Gomez is making his San Jose debut today. He's centering a line with Andrew Desjardins and Adam Burish (the 4th line if you couldn't tell from his linemates).
BlueKross
Are we heading towards FLAG hockey? Everyone seems to be thrilled at the speed of the game. Are we discouranging body checking? One of the most exciting parts of Subbans game was delivering a bone crushing body check, is the new direction going to affect his game? TurdBurglar
Does anyone know if anything will happen with Burrows for pushing the Official at the beginning of the Sharks/Canucks game last night? Under rule 39.5 subsection (iii) he should of gotten a misconduct and possible further discipline.

dlbalr
Former Hab d-man Chris Campoli is reportedly close to signing with Geneve-Servette of the NLA. If the team sounds familiar, that's where Weber played during the lockout.
Machine of Loving Grace
Are we heading towards FLAG hockey? Everyone seems to be thrilled at the speed of the game. Are we discouranging body checking? One of the most exciting parts of Subbans game was delivering a bone crushing body check, is the new direction going to affect his game? Honestly no. Subban's signature check is now "The Bee Sting" which doesn't target the head at all. It's a completely legal check that does far more physical shake up than your ordinary shoulder check. Also, guys like Tinordi are learning how to elevation check players, which means swooping down, catching from the midsection with the shoulder and trying to elevate the opponent up as they raise. This way (especially for 6'7" Tinordi) they don't get called for a head shot and if the momentum is right, they can flip a player. Really, avoiding head shots is going to create a game where the shorter players thrive. Eventually all head contact even from the shoulder will be illegal so any player small enough to hit a guy square in the chest is going to be more valuable. I wouldn't be surprised to see the return of the 5'9", 200lb short brick stack.

A suspension for elbowing Eberle in the head when Eberle was bending over to stretch himself out to get the puck. I understand Torres has a history and yadda yadda yadda but if Eberle wasn't bending over there was no contact to the head, therefore no suspension. Players should get penalties and/or supplementary discipline for putting themselves in dangerous positions to avoid contract or drawing penalties. Similar to Patch's suspension last year for hitting Letang in the head.

TurdBurglar
What team isn't scouting Washington. The scavengers are out. Washington has a weakness in the net right now, but future potential. Maybe Washington is looking for an immediate solution and Luongo would answer that. Just saying, with Luongo's situation and Gillis comment last week, now he is in Washington. Makes you think Luongo to Washington isn't far-fetched.

dlbalr
Finally we have a trade that involves actual NHL'ers being swapped (they're 4th liners but it's a start). Minnesota picks up Mike Rupp from the Rangers for Darroll Powe and Nick Palmieri (who is AHL-bound). Rupp was beginning to tumble down New York's depth chart, I suspect he'll fare better with the Wild.
