The Chicoutimi Cucumber
Your complaining about bottom six-to-eight d-men. Splitting hairs isn't it, none will be impact players barring injuries, so other than Tinordi 'situation' not a big deal. Good call, DON. The only reason Tinordi is an issue is the waiver factor. I haven't heard anyone arguing that he's actually earned the damned spot by outplaying his rivals. And as you imply, when the biggest 'controversy' is who is going to be your #6/7/8 d-man, you're in a pretty good place, organizationally. dlbalr
Season-opening rosters must be submitted by 5 PM EST on Tuesday. Accordingly, anyone that has to go through waivers must be waived no later than tomorrow at noon. That way, if they clear, they can be assigned (or traded) and taken off the roster before 5 PM. That means tomorrow is decision day for the backup goalie job and which defenceman gets waived.
DON
And odds are that it will be Condon and Barberio sent down.

Guest Stogey24
Tokarski was pretty shitty last year; not much has changed in camp. Can we really do worse having Condon as backup?
Link67
Tokarski was pretty shitty last year; not much has changed in camp. Can we really do worse having Condon as backup? Certainly not, some suggest it would be best for his development to spend the season as the starter in the AHL. But can there not be something to be gained having him under the watchful eyes of Waite on a daily basis? If Condon can help us get 2 - 4 extra wins that Tokarski would not have, that could be an 8 point difference in the standings, which at the end of a season sometimes has huge implications.

If Condon can help us get 2 - 4 extra wins that Tokarski would not have, that could be an 8 point difference in the standings, which at the end of a season sometimes has huge implications. Another 4-8 points from a backup goalie is asking a lot, especially one who doesn't play very much. Tokarski had a .500 points percentage in 16 starts last year. Let's go with a six point swing with Condon so we're in the middle of your range for the same number of games. That means Condon would be at a .688 points percentage. By comparison, Price was at a .712 rate last year, not much higher than what Condon's would be. Even at four extra points, Condon's points percentage would be .625 which is still pretty high for a backup. Would Condon be worth a couple more points during the season? Maybe. Could he help earn those points by getting more of a workload to start and then come up midseason in better form? Therein lies the debate. Whoever gets the nod as backup tomorrow isn't locked in as the #2 all season long; they can switch at some point.
BCHabnut
Condon is waiver eligible is he not? Even if he isn't, I don't see him getting poached. I would give ticker a couple reg season starts and go from there.

The Chicoutimi Cucumber
With the caveat that I haven't watched pre-season games: let him marinade in the AHL, rather than waste his time not playing in the Show. It won't hurt him. Toker can continue to pitch-hit for the great Price every now and again - this team is playoff bound either way, so it boils down to what's best for his development, and conventional wisdom is that getting a lot of games is better than being a bench warmer in that respect. DON
But 'Toker' has seemed to let in gall-darn softies way too often and nothing seems to of changed this pre-season. Waive him with the big crowd tomorrow and hope he clears and can always recall him. Condon isn't a real youngster (as a pro sure but) so like you say maybe he can learn more from Waite than whoever they have on the rock for goalie coaches. Vincent Riendeau is the goalie coach down there. Marco Marciano I think was the goalie coach a couple of years ago before Riendeau got there and Marciano is still with the team as a video coach so he probably chimes in with the goalies a bit as well. DON
thanks, couldn't remember who was goalie coach(s) and had saw it noted recently, but couldn't recall who. But, just in general Waite would seem to be better option, even if not playing majority of games maybe is best for the team (maybe not best for Condon?) to have Condon on the bench? habs rule
Toker has gone downhill for whatever reason, does not mean he is a total loss, but Condon could win a couple more games for us. Rotating probably a good idea. Someone grabs Toker ok, not the end of the world. Make sure that Condon knows he is coming back up. That is paramount. He is coming back. BlueKross
I hate when contracts interfere with destination. Toker was clearly outplayed by Condon. I send Toker down and hope he improves or is claimed. There will be plenty of goalies looking for work.
Guest Stogey24
Toke just makes himself so small in the net. He'll probably start the season with Habs, but I don't think he finishes with em'
Machine of Loving Grace
They cost exactly the same so this is whether they feel Tokarski is Toastkarski.
dlbalr
Andrighetto and Hudon have been sent down. My guess is de la Rose won't be among today's cuts because of the Kassian situation.

dlbalr
i'm guessing tokarski will stick at practice today and go down tomorrow He apparently isn't at practice which means he's heading for waivers (or less likely, traded). Barberio is also absent.

dlbalr
According to Bob McKenzie, the team has informed Tokarski that he will be waived.
dlbalr
Barberio has been informed as well. Let's see how many other depth blueliners hit the waiver wire as well as that could impact him clearing or being claimed.
