Columbus and Minnesota ?

Columbus depends on what happens with Korpisalo.  If they move him, Tarasov becomes the backup and Berube the #3 so they'd want to hold onto him (there are AHL playoffs this year).  Minnesota with Zane McIntyre could be an option - again, they'll want Hammond as injury insurance.

Hummm, if he gets some NHL starts, should be interesting.

SEVEN games in the NHL since 15/16 leaves me expecting VERY little ... he is an average AHL goalie.

We got him for an AHL goon. 1 for 1.

I wouldnt expect much.  Hes just a stopgap cause we cant keep putting Primeau out there.

it is unfortunate this stop gap didn't come earlier, specially after Hugh-Gort recognized they should have brought this type of heal to the team earlier.

I hope he plays 1/3 of the games (back-to-backs) until Allen returns

Think Tuesday's performance by Primeau made the need URGENT ... also depends on when other teams are willing to make trades ... this deal may not have been available 2-3-4 weeks ago.

Following in the footsteps of:

  • Jose Theodore
  • Steve Penney
  • Antti Niemi
  • Andre Racicot
  • Keith Kinkaid
  • Tomas Vokoun
  • Randy Exelby
  • Jean-Claude Bergeron

Wonder who he will best compare to as a Hab?

Hammond has nice NHL stats in 56gms 2.31  0.923%

(based mostly from 2 good seasons  2014-16)

One insanely good season ... 24 games ... 20-1-2 ... 1.79 GAA ... .941 Sv% ... the rise of the Hamburglar ... I live in Ottawa and recall that the craziest Sens-Kool-Aid drinkers thought they had a perennial Vezina candidate at that point

His next season was rather ordinary ... 24 games ... 7-11-4 ... 2.64 ... .914

His third/final season in Ottawa he was 4-0-2 ... 4.08 ... .837

Decent numbers in 17/18 with Colorado (2.06 / .939) ... but only got 6 games and NOBODY has wanted him in the NHL since then.

But I am happy to see him get shelled in place of Primeau ... just don't want a repeat of the Hamburglar ... Montembeault the 2nd is fine with me..

It does seem that Montembeault has established himself as #3 on the official Habs' G depth chart, and that he might even be a possibility for #2 if we trade Allen. If Price, God forbid, never plays again, then Allen-Montembault is not an acceptable configuration, and we'll need to figure out something else.

Allen and Montembeault would be fine for a couple of seasons, up to the end of Allen’s contract.

Habs would be out of the playoffs during those years and picking high.

Riding the hot goalie and not building the team around the goalie would be a breath of fresh air for this team
