dlbalr
As expected, Gabriel Bourque has been re-signed. I'd have liked a veteran slot to be used on someone that can actually make an impact in the lineup more consistently but they seem to like him. https://www.rocketlaval.com/en/communique/rocket-agree-to-terms-on-a-one-year-one-way-ahl-contract-with-forward-gabriel-bourque/

I think that's the only reason he signed - he's basically a bottom-six guy at this point with a full roster.

You might want to add a flag or indicator for AHL contracts. Some of those players will definitely end up starting the season in TR.

Yes, obviously but it is hard to tell from all these signings how HughGort may prioritize AHL contracts vs prospects needing lots of minutes

At least, seems like Mailloux 'should' be an offensive top 4 NHL d-man, given his size-skating-shot and will see if he can defend at pro level in a few months. All i hear, is that defending is less innate hockey-IQ and can be taught, lets hope he is a quick study, or his transition to pro will go great and has a Subban-like AHL year (53pts 77gms). Amongst the forwards, for no real good reason, I have the highest hopes for Roy and Heineman.
DON
Just seems are so many forwards with the Habs, might Armia be waived and end up in Laval also? Which would be good for the kids but bad for Armia's ego. Heineman start in AHL was pretty good (7g 11gms). Mesar eh...hmm, hope he can do well. Someone like Pitlick knows he is a borderline NHLer and that performing in the AHL is the only for him to get back ... Armia could bring a somewhat different situation. I don’t want to be rushing any kids - and this includes Slafkovsky. Unless they are ready, keep them in the AHL. having said that if someone has a great camp, and after after 5–10 games look like they belong, while Hoffman and Armia are digging it, don’t block the kids. but that shouldn’t mean they get a free pass for the year, if they struggle send them down to play big minutes and make adjustments. Having said that, I’d say if after 20 games Hoffman is dogging it, and if any of the kids actually look like they earn a spot on the team (older ones like Roy, Andersson ), you waive Hoffman. He is fine this year anyways, and if his not doing anything I doubt anyone wants him - even with 50% retention. The hope is he plays well enough to bring a 3rd to 5th rounder, but if he doesn’t he is the kind of player that is a cancer and a lousy guy to have around a young team. He is useless. Still don’t get that signing. As for Armia, I don’t think we can really play the waive card until next year unless he is absolutely horrible.
dlbalr
If you look back at one of the old draft day threads, I think I remember picking Merisier-Ortiz to Montreal as one of those late-round overager picks. He's a strong candidate to land in the ECHL though.

Also, at any time during the season, any NHL team could sign him to an NHL deal and grab him (but theyd need to pass him through waivers if waiver eligible). Also most players woukd be like hey, i got a two-way NHL offer from ____ do you guys want to match?
