Jean
I feel very empty inside. They really deserved the win tonight, but Cam Ward was a God. I'll cheer for Ottawa for the rest of the playoffs, but it just wont be the same.

TheBigRedC
It sucks, thats for sure. But we must remember that we are a young team, and we are only going to get better.
zumpano21
Priority #1: Sign Huet Priority #2: solid offensive center for Kovalev. Priority #3: top 3 defenseman You must have read my mind. In addition: 1- trade Aebischer, bring in Danis 2- trade Ribeiro, Bulis and Zednik 3- Trade Souray or Rivet for the new D coming in. I like them but they're getting a bit older, cost a lot, and don't have the talent necessary for us to win big. One of them should go. Bring in Cote as #7. sbhatt
I'd get rid of Rivet befrore Souray. Souray makes some big blunders sometimes, but he's an offensive weapon. Rivet is just 'competent' out there...I can't really think of anything that he does particularily well (besides being a veteran presence). kaos
I predict Montreal makes no major moves in the offseason. Montreal will be content to try and develop Higgins, Plekanec, Perezhogin and Kostitsyn while signing Huet and Aebischer. They'll be deluded by the postive seasons of the rookies into thinking they don't need to upgrade their offence. Defensively, things are good. Prime Minister Koivu
I want to keep both Souray and Rivet.

koivu-11
ok this is what i want to be happening next season. Selanne - Koivu - Kovalev Perezhogin - Higgins - Ryder Kostistyn - Plekanec - Zednik Murray - Bonk - Begin Markov - Souray Komisarek - Rivet Dandenault - Bouillon Huet Aebischer Then: Re-sign Streit,Simpson,Sundstrom, and maybe Bulis ( take your pick ) And send Latendress in hamilton. Then Amount everyone makes. Selanne=3.5-4.0 Koivu=4.3 Kovalev=4.5 ( i still say someone needs to bash a better work ethic into his head to move his legs more) Perezhogin=800,000-900,000 Higgins=900,000 Ryder=1.5 Kostistyn=500,000 Plekanec=750,000 Zednik=1.75 Murray=500,000 Bonk=3.8 Begin=500,000 Markov=2.5 Souray=2.5 Komisarek=2, 000 000 Rivet=2.8 Dandenault=1.7 Bouillon=1.2 Huet=3,000000 Aebischer=2,000 000 Total= 39.8 - 40.4 Million your inbetween those numbers and there pretty good i find. Also some of the salaries i dont know so its possible some might be a little off. GO HABS GO

Dutch_Habs_Fan
As long as we get a good second line C. Get rid of Ribs!! Some talented D coming up and developing along with Komi/Higgins/Pleks etc would be nice to!! Thats all i want. We dont need: Sunny/Zednik anymore. Keep Bulis
TheAussiePosse
Selanne, Koivu, Higgins Ryder, Arnott, Kovalev Kostitsyn, Plekanec, Zednik(Bell if they can get him, put Zeds sumwhere else) Bonk, Begin, Perezhogin A. Markov, Komisarek Souray, D. Markov, Salei, Kubina Rivet, Dandenault/Bouillon Huet Aebischer - Selanne won't leave Anaheim, especially if they go far these playoffs. I'd be more inclined to see Koivu leave Montreal to play with Selanne, especially if Teemu has less than 5 years left in the NHL. - Arnott would be nice, but with Modano moving on in years (35), and his gelling with Morrow, chances are he'll be a Star for life - You'd play Zednik over Perezhogin? I reckon Zhogs will be twice as good as Zed when he reaches his potential (and I fully expect him to) - Bonk stays, obviously, no-one will be stupid enough to take him off our hands. However, Murray or Downey should play with Begin, Murray on regular nights, and Downey when we need a tad more goonishness I say move Rivet, place Bouillion and Souray together, and keep Dandenault on the 2nd pair with Komisarek (leadership skills will rub off). And Markov gets a brand-spanking new UFA addition (to match the tie).
ch_nl
The talk has begun. It's easy to call for heads but this team made it to the playoffs and IF Saku Koivu would have played things could have been different. But the team needs to improve. How? There's a lot things that could be done but at the same time the Habs finnished the season as one of the better team if you look post olympics. I don't think the Habs needs any major changes. Maybe a small tweak... Rivet, Souray, Boullion, Komisarek and Markov should all be back for next season. As a group I like them all. Dandeanults contract makes him hard to move and Mark Streit did it OK but not more. I hope that Gainey only moves a defenceman if he can lay his hand on a major upgrade. Habsterr
I agree that the Habs are a team moving up. Gainey has done an outstanding job building this team and he has proven he is not afraid to make the big move if needed (Kovalev, Theodore). From these playoffs you can see how good Pleks will be. You can also see how poor Ribs is. It's also plain to see we need more offense, where as the D is in fine form with the style brought in by Gainey and Carbs. Gainey will do his best to find offense, hopefully both at forawrd and from the D. :hlogo: GO HABS GO. The future is exciting! :hlogo:
Mils
Aebischer will not be a backup. He had himself a little fit when it was him, Budaj, and Kolesnik in Colorado earlier this year. He needs to be a starter somewhere, and I think BG could get something good in a trade. Fanpuck and I had been thinking it would be nice if Danis could step in, so Aebischer could be sent to Tampa Bay (Tortorella wants a "shake up") with Ribeiro for one of their big three. That wouldnn't be the deal by itself, but it's a core of a deal that could help both teams. Any team looking for a starting goalie will be calling about Aebischer and Nobokov in SJ. Unfortunately they both have contract baggage.
Huckleberry
We are out of the playoffs - true. However, we put up a hell of a battle. I loved the season and all they accomplished this year. Can't wait till next year. Good work guys. It was an easy year to be a habs fan.
kaos
It is pretty impressive what Montreal accomplished considering they were blown out by Carolina almost every game they played in the regular season. Still tough to swallow being out of the playoffs though....

Can't wait till next year. Good work guys. It was an easy year to be a habs fan. Ditto. And with the management we have I only expect more. Cup within three years. *nojink* Hopefully Selanne will be missing the cold weather and the European style culture and make a move here! Good competant Center if we can't develop one fast. Another D - a real powerplay specialist who is big and tough would be great. Get rid of Abischer, Ribero (if possible), and maybe Ryder. (It seems as though he has lost the Habs lovin' feelin'. Train Bonk to hit more, and try to jump start his hands somehow ... or trade him and give some room to a rookie like Chipchura to develop.
