  1. Carbonneau would be the equivalent of Patrice Bergeron now a days. No you say? Bergeron plays with Marchand and Pastrnak on the 1st line, in a defence 1st era. Carbonneau played on the 3rd line with Mike McPhee, Mike Keane, Benoit Brunet etc., while being responsible for checking Gretzky, Lemieux, Hawerchuck, Yzerman, Turgeon, Oates, Trottier, Savard in the highest scoring period of the league, while regularly scoring 20 goals. Yes he also played with the likes of Gainey (end of career), Claude Lemieux, Skrudland and some other fantastic hockey players as well. The Hall Of Fame nomination is so much deserved!!!
  2. Disappointed they didnt trade up. Maybe he'll be a other Romanov
  3. What does it take, draft capital wise, to move up from 46/50 to 32/34?
  4. I agree with this...except I believe its Lavoie the Canadiens will be targeting. At #15 hes in the conversation for BPA.
  5. I could see Bergevin going after a guy like Nick Leddy. I dont believe any of the big name free agents will sign in Montreal.
  6. You know what changes the bigger isnt better attitude? Winning the Stanley Cup. Gonna be an interesting summer ahead
  7. With St Louis winning the cup and both them and Boston both being physical teams I could see a lot of teams turning their eyes towards Lavoie. The game will turn more physical next year as everyone tries to imitate those 2 teams.
  8. I had Weber this past year, traded for him just before he got hurt. It's a keeper league but I wont be protecting him.
  9. Hoping they can snag 2 of Wilde, McLeod, Thomas.
  10. The attitude change needs to happen at the management level and the media level. The management attitude needs to change with respect to young players. All around the league teams are going with younger, faster and more skilled players. As well as giving them more responsibility and more leeway in the things they do and how they represent themselves. That is not at all acceptable here, where they just want wallflowers and yes men who toe the company line. As well the media needs an attitude adjustment with respect to the French issue, and the negative spotlight they always seem to project when things go sour or even when they are good. It is absolutely idiotic in this day and age to pick the best available bilingual person for management jobs, which ensures that the best people available will most likely never be hired. It's insane. No successful business would run this way. I used to be a more frequent contributor to this site, and huge supporter of this team but have severely lost interest in this team over the last 8 to 10 years. I thought for a while is was natural as I developed my career and had a family, yet I started to watch more Football and Baseball But it's actually the horrible way the organisation is run, and realization that unless there is a drastic change in the way they run their operations and treat their players that they will never, ever win another Stanley Cup. They'll just be mediocre. They've been mediocre for 25 years now and it's not changing anytime soon.
  11. Let's assume Mtl drafts 4th overall. Montreal trades that pick and another (one of their 2nds) to the Islanders for their 2 first rounders which could be 10th and 12th picks. This allows the Islanders to select the best available dman, the team's biggest need aside from goalie. Montreal now trades one of those 1st rounders to Calgary for Sam Bennett (Yes there could be other moving parts). Calgary gets their 1st rounder back and Montreal potentially gets a top 6 centre Carolinas new owner has said no one is safe on their roster other than Aho. Montreal trades Pacioretty ( + other pieces) for Noah Hanifin or Jake Bean (straight up). Carolina gets goal scoring and Montreal a puck moving dman. There's alot of risk involved for Montreal. Trading out of top 4 pick, potentially out of 1st round entirely with trades, hoping Bennett can find his game. If it's Bean Montrel trades for its risky that Bean doesn't pan out. Drouin Galchenyuk Scherbak Lehkonen Bennett Gallagher Bryon Danault Hudon Deslaurier A Shaw Rychel Mete Weber Hanifin(Bean) Petry Reilly Juulsen Benn Price Lindgren
  12. Pray the ping pong balls fall correctly on April 28th and Montreal wins draft lottery and selects Rasmus Dahlin Then pray that Tavares doesn't resign with The NYI and signs with Montreal. Id trade Pacioretty since he'll be unaffordable after next year. Lehkonen Tavares Scherbak Drouin Galchenyuk Gallagher Bryon Danault Hudon Deslaurier A Shaw Rychel de la Rose Mete Weber Dahlin Petry Benn Reilly Juulsen Price Lindgren Since all of this is highly unlikely I'm not sure how you fix what's wrong with this team
  13. If Jonathan Drouin LW the 3rd overall pick of 2013 draft out of QMJHL turns into Jon Draper LW 3rd overall pick of 2013 draft out of WHL, does the Sergachev for Draper/Drouin trade still happen?
  14. When it rains it pours in Hab land
  15. I hope Molson fires Bergevin before he attempts a job saving trade like Mete, Galchenyuk and a 2nd Rounder for Vermette, Beauchemin and a 6th, stating, "we need more character and veteran presence in the dressing room."
  16. I'm going to work. There's no TV there
  17. On the plus side it should light a fire under Bergevins ass to trade for help. On the negative side....see previous statement
  18. Galchenyuk wasn't a 200 ft player. Drouin is even less of a 200ft than Galchenyuk. Theoretically it shouldn't last long.
  19. Pacioretty Danault Lehkonen Galchenyuk Drouin Gallagher Byron Plekanec Shaw Matinsen Mitchell McCarron Schlemko Weber Alzner Petry Benn Davidson Streit
  20. That 2nd Toronto goalie was a sieve. McNieven was excellent. Especially early. I was one of the shooters at 1st intermission one ice contest. My friend was selected but chickened out. I had to wear his friends Leaf sweater to do it.
