alexstream
Brisebois is UFA this offseason... Don't you think that at 1.5M he's a pretty solid PP weapon... Discuss... Can't be worse than Dandy
BTH
Why would he want to come back?

alexstream
Umm is this a joke thread? :hlogo: half and half I mean, for any team but the habs, he's an interesting option on the Right side at 1.5M or less... a good veteran who can move the puck, etc... sakiqc
The whipping boy coming back to his tormentors? haha Well, I never had any problem with him. But for him personally, I would not even think about it.
ShortHanded
Brisebois would never come back. The fans were more than disproportionately evil to him; I mean, causing the guy so much stress that he developed an irregular heartbeat?!!! Seriously bad stuff. Also, his back problems have worsened over the year. I wish him a good season... elsewhere.
TheBigRedC
Yeah, sure. I'll come back. But I demand better treatment that Patrice got.
koivu-11
Well...i think he was acctually there when montreal last won the cup, so maybe him being there would be some nice veteran presance and montreal did treat him to bad. My uncle habs fan his whole life said Brisebois was a good defensmen, maybe not 100% solid but worth having..not for 4million but if we can pick him up 1mil pft why not
The Chicoutimi Cucumber
He WAS a good defenceman, punished because he was miscast as our #1 d-man. (That's how bad we sucked). Any team would have been happy to have him on the second pairing, but I suspect those days are gone. He's what, 37?
JMMR
No way. 1. Brisebois would not want to 2. Bob want LESS distractions not more. 3. Habs fans do not want himm back even at 500,000 it just is not worth it.
jetsniper
I really doubt a playoff team signs him this offseason. Old, coming off a big injury and never played exceptionally well.
saskhab
The webmaster/architect of the hockey forums website I moderate at said he's going to shut down the site if the Avs (his favorite team) re-sign him. Of course, the Habs contingent is like... we put up with him for 14 years! You've had him for 2! You don't have our sympathy at all! I loved last year when the Avs got eliminated... Turgeon and Brisebois both had a defensive breakdown, and the Ducks scored upstairs on Theodore. Still doesn't make up for fleecing Roy from us, but hey... any little bit of revenge counts. :hlogo:
Fanpuck33
Well...i think he was acctually there when montreal last won the cup Yup, he was the last holdover. Ah, what a gloriously young team that was. Carbo and Savard were the only players over 30 who played significantly, and even Savard missed most of the second half of the playoffs. Just goes to show how poorly the team was handled after that. saskhab
This would be more sad than funny. Us re-acquiring Traverse earlier this year was funny. This would be just sad... for both parties.

I have no idea why that was done. I think it was to deflect us questioning the team to questiong Gainey. Hey you never know....
The Iron Lung
My use of the f-word went down exponentially when Brisebois left... please don't make me revert back to a foul mouthed guy.

Zowpeb
Personally I think you are all crazy for saying you wouldn't want him back. What were the biggest issues with Breezy in his time on the Habs? 1) He played the minutes, and match-ups, of a #1 d-man. - Clearly he's not a #1 so he was mis-used greatly. He should never have been put into many of the situations/roles he had. Yeah, he made mistakes but what can you expect when you put a #4 guy into tough match-ups. 2) He was overpayed. - Which made the fans even more irritable. If, during his time here, Brisebois played as a #4 d-man, PP specialist, and was paid that way...he would still be here and would be an accepted player by the fans. I would be quite happy to see Souray and Markov on our top PP unit and Breezy manning the 2nd PP unit and the last D pairing. It would be an upgrade for the team IMO. Of course, I don't see him wanting to come back after what he went through...and you can't blame him. BUT he is the type of depth D signing this team could use if it re-signs Markov and Souray. Chris
All this team has is PP specialists. They need some players who can compete 5 on 5. So the bottom line is he IS NOT going to be a habs next year.

Chris
Koivu, Ryder, Souray minus 78 or something. They get the majority of points on the PP. Nothin 5 on 5 , unless you count picking the puck out of there own net. Kovalev as well, minus 19 i think.

So, having a 3rd guy that can man the point on the PP does have some value... Yeah, I agree we could use a couple of guys that produce better in 5 on 5 situations...I also think that's a coaching and philosophical issue. There is no reason why this team can't have a couple of effective forward lines in 5 on 5 situations...I don't see how it could be viewed any other way since Koivu, Ryder, Kovalev and Higgins are definitely all skilled enough to put pucks in on 5 on 5 situations.
