Permanent Rumour Thread

Either would I - I think Subban is going to be a Norris contender and better then Chelios was. I also think maxpac may finally become the power forward we have lacked since giving away Leclair.

Agreed

Wow, Eklund nearly went 2 weeks between inventing a Hab rumour. His latest, since there isn't much to talk about:

I am chasing down an interesting rumor regarding "a Jets defenseman going to Montreal for a package including a top Hab's prospect and Gomez." Gomez, who would be continuing his slow and steady geographical return to Alaska in such a deal, could be an ideal fit for Winnipeg...

Apparently, the D is Bogosian or Oduya...just a teensy little difference between the two.

Would PG really dump Gomez AND a 'top prospect' without a suitable replacement at center? I mean, I would absolutely love to have Bogosian (Oduya... yeah no thanks), but unless PG can replace Gomez with a suitable top 6 center, it would only serve to make the team weaker. Now, if he had another trade for someone like Stoll pending on Gomez, that would really be worth considering.

Under the 'never thought I'd see a rumour from an NHL'er category,' the Coyotes' Oliver Ekman-Larsson is reporting that we've reportedly signed 22 year old defenceman Robin Olsson.

The timing is a little interesting as he just signed a 1 year extension with Örebro (from the Allsvenskan, not the Elitserien) late in June. Ekman-Larsson is the only source of this rumour that I can find right now.

Apparently Ekman-Larsson said the tweet was a joke.

Goals.by, a Belarusian website, is quoting Andrei Kostitsyn as being quite pissed with Martin, saying he doesn't talk to him when he tries to approach him about faults in his game, etc. I actually assume this is part of Martin's MO: he did put Muller in charge of those type of conversations. Martin plays the bad cop. The sources I'm using for this is Slava Malamud on Twitter, who works for the Russian tabloid Sport-Express.

Bunch of bad stuff in there. Looks like he has a good agent though. Good advice.

Goals.by asks Kostitsyn if it'd be better to switch teams. "I am not thinking about it for now... My agent's advice is to play hockey"

A little swedish spelling here. The "n" in the end of Allsvenskan and Elitserien represents the "the" in english. So no use saying "the Allsvenskan" or "the Elitserien" because that kinda means "the the Allsvenska" and so on. :D

Sorry for going off topic.

Erik Christensen seems to be Eklund's latest fantasy for the Habs, he once again has raised his name as someone the Habs want (or more likely, he wants on the Habs for some odd reason). Before anyone asks, he's a shootout specialist, doesn't bring much offensively to the table. Despite his decent size, he doesn't hit much and he's merely mediocre on the draw. If Gauthier is indeed looking for a 4th line C (and I for one believe he is), I think he'll be able to find a better one out there.

I was hoping someone like Paul Gaustad (sp?) would be on the radar.....but I think that just makes too much sence :bonk:

It wouldn't make any sense for Buffalo to move him. Gaustad isn't a 4th line centre, he's a 3rd liner now and a pretty good one at that. Frankly, I'm not sure there are too many decent available options that would fit Montreal's needs for a 4th line C (size, physical play, faceoffs come to mind). I think a guy like Ryan Johnson or Adam Mair could find themselves as invitees to camp if they are indeed looking for one and can't secure one via trade.

I agree, Gaustad is going nowhere. Buffalo still needs help up the middle. The Ekland thing is spun because it is obvious that Phoenix also needs help up the middle. If Phoenix could get a capable center, I think they are in a lot better shape than the Hockey News ranks them. I guess that's how the Gomez thing fits in. I don't think you will see much movement on the Canadiens part going into the month of October.

about gaustad, I know that it is probly not going to happen, but looking at Buffalos cap situation and the fact that they have a few good prospects coming up I just thought that it may be something that would work...I think that they are still over the cap by a few Million arent they? (according to capgeek they are over by 3.5 mil) trading his 2.3 mil for a prospect would make it easier for them to free up some space by moving players up or down from the minors. we have a few prospects that might be of interest if they dont want a prospect send them Moen and a pick, he is still cheaper than Gaustad. For them its about moving salary without losing a big name player for us its about finding that PK/faceoff man/big center. (I know this is just me dreaming but I think but this is exactly the kind of deal I see Gauthier pulling off)

In fact I think Gomez and tinordi to the jets for Boogosian.

then moen and a pick to les sabres for Gaustad.

I give this a rating of DH4 ( 4 because I thought of it = 1, I like them both = 2&3, and Gomez costs up too much = 4)

Buffalo will farm out Morrisonn and Kotalik to get under the cap, they won't lose any impact players. Gotta feel happy for Sabre fans, now they have an owner willing to spend to the upper tier of the cap.

They have been waiting a long time, they really are a solid hockey city too, they have a pretty solid fan base, I know people who are Buffalo fans and thats more then I can say for most non original six-american teams from my neck of the woods, everyone is Original Six, Generic other Canadian team or Pittsburgh (Im from nova scotia so the crosby thing is big here, im no fan of him though)

Ugh you can understand my pain of having BOTH Crosby AND Marchand bring the cup here to Halifax. The worst part is, I work at the Children's Hospital here, so they both brought it by, I mean hey it's good for the kids, but damn does it grind my gears haha....

Mike McPhee brought the cup home in 1986. He didn't throw a parade. Enough said? Halifax has not won a cup and should not be throwing parades for every 3rd line player that gets his name on the cup. Makes the city look so small town.

Turris presumably has a lot of potential - I know Phoenix originally saw him as a future cornerstone - although I never saw anything terribly exciting and his numbers have thus far been mediocre. Still, he's a rangy young C with promise, and that has to interest the Habs.

I wouldn't get too worked up, though. If Phoenix rates him as a key player that they have to part with for contractual reasons, then they'll probably want high-quality youth in return - e.g., MaxPac or (if they really do see Turris as a future star) PK. Now if we could swing a deal involving Gomer, or get Turris for a Weber, or a Desharnais + a good pick, well then that might make some kinda sense.
