dlbalr
Any opinions on the team,or just judging posters again ? If we're getting into shots like that, the same could be asked of you in the post Habsy was responding to which was referencing the ignore list and 'judging' a poster somewhat by noting his presence on said list. BlueKross
I am thinking something along the lines of Commandant, and although I don't believe Gauthier has done as bad job as some of you clearly do, I think it is time to severe the ties to that old regime; which would include Gainey, Martin and Gauthier and start with a new prespective going forward. thib46
This goes back to the original idea of this thread, has anyone given a thought about a possible assistant to join the new coach? I was thinking that maybe Hal Gil would comeback to Montreal as the assistant coach in charge of the defense. I know that is putting the cart in front of the horse but It is just a thought about Hal's future and I would like to see him in Montreal to work with the young defencemen coming up in the organization. Hal will be a coach someday if he wants it (either in Montreal or elsewhere) but I think he's got at least 1-2 years of hockey left as a #6 and PK specialist. thib46
Agree, but if he decides to change his mind I would like Montreal to go for him.
Commandant
Agree, but if he decides to change his mind I would like Montreal to go for him. I like him too. But who the GM and then who the head guy are both will have huge influence here too. Its a nice thought and I like the idea if its possible, but a lot of other things have to happen first. Dalhabs
No matter who the coach is I want the big bird as an assistant. Agreed... Maybe Patrick Roy as an assistant as well. Crawford as headcoach and since Roy played for him they know eachother well. hmm... Im just mumbling things here btw...

Im just mumbling things here btw... I doubt Roy takes an assistant job. This isn't Muller who had one year coaching Canadian University and nothing else, (and a poor record in Canadian University too)... This is a guy who has been coach/GM of a QMJHL team for years, and has made that team competitive year in and year out and won a Memorial Cup. I think people tend to forget he's been a coach for seven years now.
xXx..CK..xXx
Here's a question to keep this discussion moving: Crawford or Boucher? You're Molson: who ya gonna call? To be completely honest, I think both choices would be great options for this team moving forward... It's a situation where you can't really go wrong. My first choice would be to go for the proven coach in Crawford though. I think I'm repeating the same thing I said earlier in this thread but I don't really have an original opinion on the topic. As soon as Martin got fired, I thought Crawford would be the best pick for the job with the language barrier being an issue for other candidates. I could be wrong but it seems as though most of the people who want Roy to be our next coach simply want it because of the player he was for our franchise and not because of his coaching credentials. To me that's simply not a valid reason. I understand that Roy has done a very good job in the minors but that does not necessarily translate into success at the highest level. Coaching a team of kids is simply different than coaching a professional organization. I think there would be an adjustment period for Roy and I think the fans of the Montreal Canadiens have had enough coaches in the recent past who have needed adjustment periods and deserve a coach who has been there before and experienced it all... similar to how Hitchcock has taken St. Louis from a bubble team and made them into a contender in an extremely short period of time. With all that that being said, with the core group of players we currently have and the passion Roy possesses, I'll admit that it is hard to envision him failing. Personally Boucher would also be ahead of Roy on my list but right now he's still the coach of another team so I'm not completely sure he's even worth bringing up as an option. Machine of Loving Grace
Agreed CK. Makes no sense to me why people bring up Boucher. Tampa isn't going to fire him after one bad season. Especially since Tampa's biggest issue this year lies upon Steve Yzerman's hands (goaltending).
