brobin
I would take Boullion and Diaz over Murray. Murray is useful against some bigger teams, but Diaz and Boullion seem to get slagged regardless of performance. No, they are not Markov or PK, but they are better then the rookies and Murray. brobin
Another crappy, boring first period by the habs. Good thing there is no score. Maybe they will show up next period.
Trizzak
Slow thread tonight. Habs getting hemmed in their own end pretty easily by the Rangers. Price and lucky bounces have kept them in this game.
Lovett's Magnatones
Does anyone have the TOI? Seems like the kid line barely played. I know the Rangers are uselesd in the Bell Centre but it seems like the DD line was out there constantly. We're a .500 team right now, we can't keep trying to get bad players going when we have favorable matchups. I mean cmon! DD isn't Brad Richards. Having him start the game and be on the first pp is borderline insanity.
The Chicoutimi Cucumber
I won't say the Habs sucked - they did get a couple of chances - but they were thoroughly mediocre. Sigh. Maybe they ultimately are nothing better than mediocre. Still too small, still not physical enough, still not enough elite skill to compensate for that lack of physicality. Of course it doesn't help when Bourque and MaxPac decline to bring any serious physical presence. We need out bigger players to play big. I don't like Honey Boo-Boo for Murray either. But it was inevitable given that he is MT's bum buddy. As for Desharnais getting "infinite chances," I can go either way. It's in the team's best interest to get him playing like a bona-fide NHLer again. Short of sending him to Hamilton, how else can we do it? And if we don't give him juicy slots after he finally does something (the shootout goal), when will we?
BCHabnut
I actually like Boullion and Murray. Murray has really helped our PK. What I don't like is the use of Boullion. He's. 6th defenseman playing 3rd minutes. I think this is because he is a bit more physical. Gorges Diaz are both 3rd pairing fringe second pairing defense. I believe Diaz and Gorges need to go and a true 4th 5th need to be brought in. We have way too many soft defensemen that can't win battles. Having him start the game and be on the first pp is borderline insanity. DD played a minute more then the kid line. The Pleks line was almost double. I don't know if it is because Gally is still a bit sick, but both the Pleks line and the DD line are allergic to offence lately. And I am officially disappointed in Pacs. He has done nothing and is playing perimeter hockey, more like Bourque. If he doesn't get it going soon, we are in trouble. This just adds to DDs woes as he can't even get assists with Pacs playing like this. So we have pacs, Bourque, Gionta, and Briere racking up points like fourth liners. If not for our D and goalies, we would be buffalo.
dlbalr
I'm a little perplexed that Bournival gets demoted so that Prust can play on a scoring line. I guess they're trying to have a couple of offensive guys on each line but I'd rather Prust and Moen play together on the 4th. Desharnais has 4 blocked shots already tonight. Going into tonight, he had 8.

When Emelin is taking his regular shift, Diaz and Boullion will have less ice time. Diaz will get some PP time to boost his ice time a bit. Murray is big, but brutally slow, can't pass, and is constantly apologizing to our goalies for his screw ups.
The Chicoutimi Cucumber
I love MaxPac, but after some strong games where he was held off the score sheet, he seems to have tapered off a bit. It is a bit disconcerting that, while he played well enough last season, he really hasn't shown any sign of recovering his dominating 2011-12 form in the 60 or so games of hockey we've seen since then. The Chicoutimi Cucumber
...and thar she blows. A thoroughly uninspiring performance by the Habs so far - a team that seems allergic to sustained pressure in the offensive zone.
Lovett's Magnatones
The biggest priority on this team is getting DD going. So? How big of an ego are we working with regarding MB?

They need him to get going. He won last nights game in the shootout. It makes sense that they would give him a good chance tonight. Add that to Gally struggling with the flu, and DD gets a bit more ice time. So... Is he playing favourites with Pacs too? Pacs has done nothing and is getting lots of Ice time. Don't get me wrong I never wanted DD signed, but what MT is doing seems logical to me, given the circumstances.

Moen is a 4th liner, White is a 4th liner. Keep them on the damn 4th line. Dd playing more than eller or the gally's is ridiculous. It doesn't help by playing him with a cream puff like Bourque. This is the Bourque that flames fans and media bitched about and kelly Hrudy ripped before they finally traded his ass out of calgary. Ok PP. Better not start the damn PP with that smurf DD.
brobin
I don't think it is. He got a shootout goal against a backup goalie. Big whoop. Last year pacs got a fłuke goal from the redline. He was on fire after. Frankly, I am not sure who is so hot right now with Gally seeing limited time due to the flu. What exactly do you think MT should be doing? Break up the egg line? Chris
Man these guys are soft. There is this place called the front of the net. Go there and tou may actually score a goal. To many passengers once again.
brobin
For all the crap our D gets, we are fifth in the league in goals against. Maybe if we weren't 19th in goals for ( and falling), we would have a better record. This teams primary issue is the forwards.
dlbalr
Dd playing more than eller or the gally's is ridiculous. Gallagher is clearly not 100%. He shouldn't be getting more than 4th line ice time the way he's going. This is one of those games where it's only a 1 goal deficit...but it feels like more. The Desharnais block tracker continues, he had one of the Habs' two blocks in the 2nd, give him 5 on the night. Can he equal his season output in one game? I don't mean to be short or bombastic, but the DD saga must be a huge distraction to the team. The benchings, the line juggling, his deportation and that country's refusal to accept him. Frankly, it's a side show to cover a GMs ass over a flash in the pan.As to the line juggling, what happened to Bournival? He's French, he can play big minutes. Slot him in with the kids, and move Gallagher to the DD line. DD and Boo Boo have better job security than the President!
Chris
The defense is average at best.. It's outstanding goaltending that carries this team. I agree with you on needing some forwards with grit and desire to get to the net. If I were MB, I would start making some calls and try to get bigger, faster and younger.
