Beaulieu's gonna have plays like that. I just hope the coaching staff doesn't try to squeeze the life out of him like they've tried to do with Subban.

Lord, Price is AWESOME.

EDIT: the Twitter twits on the front page are reporting that Patches will be good to go for Sochi! Wolverine strikes again :halm:

Yep, we managed to right the ship and can head into the last chunk of the schedule - a very demanding chunk - feeling pretty good.

Weird to see Komisarek and Hainsey out there for the Canes. Remember when those were supposed to be two key cogs of a rebuilt Montreal Canadiens powerhouse? Sigh.

Price has been scary good all season. Even during the horrible slump when we were getting shellacked, I never saw him as the problem. His play has basically been as good as it is possible for a goaltender to play. And if this is his "new normal" - if he can avoid his tendency to slump - then we have one hell of an asset in our quest to become contenders.

Great game by DD! If he can keep that up, he'll silence a lot of doubters.

Canucks officially in meltdown mode. Gillis has his work cut out for him.

I would like to apologize to David Desharnais, he is playing like a man on a mission. He looked absolutely great out there. He can actually play with someone not named Patches. I am now becoming a big fan of the wies trade for whoever that bum was. The 4th line looks great. 3 weeks off eh? That will be tough. Btw what happened to Patches? I missed the first 2 periods.

Patches has a lower-body injury, but Mackezie and others are tweeting that he will be playing for Sochi. Probably, then, a charley-horse after getting smashed hard into the net.

DD needs more than one game to prove he can do it without Patches, but damn, he sure didn't miss a beat without his bum-buddy tonight.

They've been trying to get that out of him in Hamilton too and haven't had a whole lot of success. It's worth noting that he didn't see the ice after that gaffe.

Decent game overall, Price bailed us out several times. Briere finished strong before the break, Subban finished weak. He still has the habit of needlessly skating into trouble in the defensive zone, and then forcing a pass from a difficult position. I think the Olympics should help a lot in re-focussing him (and it's clear that he's a little distracted).

Ha ha, Machine, other than the D - which is actually pretty good - that is one garbage lineup. It's weirdly reassuring that we haven't made THAT many egregious mistakes in terms of letting guys go. Guess that's why we've been a pretty good franchise for most of the past 7-8 years.

The crazy thing is that a lot of teams can't do that. They can't say in the last 10-12 years they could pretty much make a full lineup of guys who are mostly still playing in the NHL that they let go. That's the Timmins magic of finding guys in late rounds.

Interesting fact: when looking at the current roster, our luckiest pick (not to count the first round with Patches, Price and Galchenyuk) is in the third round. Tomas Plekanec, Alexei Emelin and Ryan White are third rounders while Weber, O'Byrne and Beauchemin are former third round picks by us. Gives hope to guys like Nattinen, Bennett or Bozon.

The problem is he didn't find enough top line players over the years.

We needed these two points. Look at the string of games following the Olympic break:

Red Wings

Penguins

Maple Leafs

Kings

Ducks

Coyotes

Bruins

Senators

all in a row, with some west coast travel thrown in. Plus, a lot of our key players will probably be pretty tired at that point (although the same could be said about a few of those teams).

Right on, looks like should be some good games.

Not many boring Habs vs Leafs or Bruins games.

It just goes to show you that just because you have youth, it doesn't automatically equate to success. Plan for the future all you want, but shit happens.
