tomh009
I watched the '78 and '79 playoffs on TV ... with my brother, who was a huge Bruins fan at the time. 😁

We must be born all around the same time I was 20. Go flannel!

Broke the dial. He fixed it with vice grips. That was a game they won! And I wonder why I'm such an emotional fan.

I'm not sure if I'd remember any of 77 or 78 series though. I really shouldn't have any memories of 79 but amazingly somehow I do. During the 1st lockout that brought the cap TSN played a bunch of old games and they played the 79 series. Well, numerous times watching the games I knew what would happen next, from my memories. ex: Mike Palmateer going down in the corner in Game 3, Robinson getting the series winning goal and then going over to Tiger Williams, etc. Heres the crazy thing, I was born in 75, in Dec. When that 79 series happened I always thought I 4 1/2 yrs old. However, apparently I was actually only 3 1/2. That 79 series made me a Habs fan for life. I watched it with my great Uncle, who was a hardcore Leafs fan.

Not sure that is actually the case, though! 😁

I know I took for granted the Habs greatness. I was 10 at the time.

I remember the 77, 78, 79, and the painful losses in 80, and 81, but I couldn’t tell you some of the people that were in meetings with me last week🙄

Dryden and Lafleur were my two favourite players growing up and got to meet both. Dryden at his book signing for The Game at WH Smith and got to interview Lafleur and take photos of him and Sakic for an article for my a university newspaper. yep. Did take those cup years fir granted. I was so pissed that we didn’t win another one until 86’ and more pissed at losing at home to the friggin Flames. For some reason, I had memories of Vernon knocking the net off the moorings. I blamed him for the loss. Typical 16 year old logic.
