Fowler also made USA team

Lane Hutson, Jacob Fowler make USA’s World Juniors roster (habseyesontheprize.com)

Xhekaj 1a 5 shots (11g 25pts 28 games), the "Unicorn" has matched last years point total in 40 fewer games.

With just 2 minor penalties in last 14 games.

Bogdan played 2 short games yesterday;

Kazakhstan 2 Russia 25 Team 5 (Final) - 3x3 Liga Stavok Channel One Cup (21 mins game) (Saint-Petersburg, Russia) - Watch online

Yevgeni Volokhin - didn't play
Bogdan Konyushkov - two assists

Stars and VHL Team 2 Russia 25 Team 4 (Final) - 3x3 Liga Stavok Channel One Cup Final (21 mins game) (Saint-Petersburg, Russia) - Watch online

Yevgeni Volokhin - didn't play
Bogdan Konyushkov - one goal (1)

Habs Prospects

I think we can write off Smilanic as a good pick up by Hughes, he has all of 1g 6pts in 24 ECHL games.

Exactly. Swinging for the fences, this time it didn't work out.

Chiarot for Newhook though, i will take that.

I can see why this team is favoured, lots of quality kids listed.

(Cole Eiserman didnt make he cut)

Amazing how many NHLers’ kids make it to the NHL, or at least have successful pro careers.

23. Tij Iginla, C, Kelowna Rockets (WHL): Meteoric rise up the rankings continues for Jarome's son. Possesses many of the same traits that made his dad a Hall of Famer.

Genetics plays a huge role in who can become the best of the best and become a pro athlete.  Add to that the fact the parents know what it takes to make it and can pass on the lessons learned, and also have the money to pay for the best coaches, nutrition, etc... and its easy to see why.

Quite true. And yet many crash and burn, genetics are no guarantee as there are two parents. Gretzky, Bourque, Lemieux, Roy, Chelios, Messier and many more.

It's certainly no guarantee, but the % that make it with an NHL parent is certainly much higher than the normal population.

Fully agree, for the reasons Commandant outlined, they significantly improve the probabilities--but it's far from a guarantee, even for the kids of generational players.

Nothing is 100%... but compared to the average person, the sons and daughters of pro athletes become pro athletes at a far, far higher rate.

Edit: i see you discussed this.

The Athletic's Corey Pronman published his list of top 25 prospects at the world juniors. His top ten:

1. Macklin Celebrini
2. Will Smith (SJS)
3. Cutter Gauthier (PHI)
4. Gabe Perreault (NYR)
5. Konsta Helenius
6. Jiri Kulich (BUF)
7. Ryan Leonard (WSH)
8. Lane Hutson (MTL)
9. Jimmy Snuggerud (STL)
10. Axel Sandin Pellikka (DET)

Celebrini and Helenius are the only draft-eligibles in the top ten. Neither Mesar or Beck fit into Pronman's top 25 ranking.

Did Reinbacher make the list?
