I hope his game is better than his fashion sense

My expectations aren't high for Laine as he hasn't played for a while, it will take some time. However his presence in the lineup will give the team a lift so I confidently predict a Habs victory tomorrow night.

I don’t think one can ever ‘confidently predict’ a victory with this bunch, LOL, but I agree that expectations for Laine should be modest, at least for a few weeks. He has played 18 games in the past year and a half.

As you guys know… (and I was chastised for it), I appreciate Josh Anderson returning to his bigger, scarier form… all he needs now is to drive the net more and let teammates clean up the chaos. He can be a destroyer of worlds if he combines all his gifts and plays big.

Solid game last game and playing like we need him to since Washington game where he got into the fray. He needs to play with this edge and summon his inner Hulk to be more effective … a mid point between Wilson and Kreider shall we say.

A short excerpt from this Gazette article:

Just Joshin’: Full props to Josh Anderson for responding to a difficult season by reinventing himself. Anderson has become a valuable penalty killer and an intimidating brawler when he chooses.

Laine skating with Dach and Slafkovsky at practice.

This is the line I was dreaming of when we aquired Laine, thinking all 3 would have an amesome season. 😅

It is a combo that has a lot of weight, that SHOULD be really tough to play against if it ever clicks.

Wow, so people pay premium rates for those abominations. I guess even Finns can be idiots

Tempted to call it the Headcase Line, but y'know, I don't want to make fun of Laine's mental health issues

Although I voted for Suzuki to help Laine excel in his first game in a year on the poll, I actually don’t hate this line up.

Well balanced.

I’m changing my mind. Let’s play these lines.

If everyone on those lines plays up to their potential, the Habs suddenly mutate into being a bubble-quality team.

Thus far this season, that "if" has been a massively unrealized hypothetical.

Agree. I think our hopes as a bubble team were pinned on certain things coming to fruition. Pins and bubbles don’t mix.

There are still a lot of glaring issues. Team defence, goaltending, rookie (young) learning curves etc. Those create up and down seasons. Dach hopefully shakes off rust.. he appears to be emotionally engaged now. Laine might take time.

At this point we all just need/want to see steady improvement…. I do too, but I also want a really really good player in the draft.

I am a Monty believer, but the glaring issues are why, even if the FW unit plays up to its potential, we're still a bubble team.

I can understand Dach's struggles this season, even if I think he has shown worrisome signs. Slaf I have a harder time with. Of course, he's just a kid, but his second half last season was quite a tease. I wonder if he just showed up to camp in not great shape and has been struggling to catch up ever since; that would be a typical mistake by a 20-year-old.

Laine might have a strong game or two fueled by excitement at hitting the ice, but I expect him to have a long a frustrating adjustment period, a bit like Dach.

I thought we heard Slaf was coming into this season looking like a beast. Friedman even said something about how much of a beast Slaf looked in summer training.

I’m hoping Slaf’s progress is like Necas’.  Necas’ progress has been steadier. But now at 25 Necas is having quite the season. Pipe dream maybe, but still possible.

That's true about the reports, forgot about that.

I think Slaf has a great attitude and he appears self motivated.

He might not turn out to be the best pick in the draft, but I don’t think we went wrong choosing him. He will work hard to improve. That’s his character.

The offense has been questionable too.  Not just production, but there's been an alarming number of games with really low shot counts, 24 shots/game average.  It's because of this I don't think we will see a drastic improvement even with Laine.

Yeah… we aren’t the envy of league for anything but our potential.
