hab29RETIRED
Just read this piece of crap: http://nhl.si.com/2013/02/07/the-list-nhls-most-hated-players/# seriously???? What kind of idiot would group Subban with the likes of Ott, Carcillo, Tootoo and Torres???? Marchand represents the perfect stereotype of trailer trash or a hillbilly. Admittently Ribeiro and Burrows are always vying for an oscer. But there is something seriously wrong when you lump Subban in with these clowns.
brobin
Riberio...for something he did years ago... No one cares anymore.. Bs... Subban... Complete Bs... Players hate cheap shot artists. This is not the nhls most hated, it is just the opinion of the idiot who wrote the article.
Machine of Loving Grace
I think he's absolutely correct but needs to modify the statement. Subban is the most polarizing hockey player in the NHL. People either love him or hate him. Hard to find many in between.
Commandant
What value is a most hated list that doesn't include Matt Cooke?

Honestly I wouldn't put him at no 1 but I definitly believe Subban is one of the most hated players in the league. Look how many penalties he draws from players going after him after whistles or behind the play. Also he has been known to do his fair share of cheap stuff whether it be a slew foot, faking taking off his helmet during a fight, diving, and embellishment. He also does more then his fair share of chirping on the ice. That being said I don't buy the whole he is hated by everyone in the locker room. I'm sure there are a few guys that dislike him but thats normal.
The Chicoutimi Cucumber
I couldn't care less. You think Chelios, Carbo, and Roy weren't hated? I want guys who help the Habs WIN, not Mr. Popularity. I never, ever, EVER want to see again this Ronald Corey 'We Only Want Good Upstanding Family Men' philosophy running the Habs again. Bad-asses and agitators help you win. Fact.
Lovett's Magnatones
Good. Subban is hated like Pronger, Corey Perry et all, not hated like Carcillo, Ott or Marchand. What could be better than a player who is hated this much, and is dynamite on the ice?
Helmethead
Claude "friggen" Lemieux anyone??
TurdBurglar
Sean freaking Avery not there? Suspended pending anger freaking management. Making fun of Dustin Brown's speech impediment while he was on the Kings with Brown? How the freak is Sean Avery NOT on the list??

Making fun of Dustin Brown's speech impediment while he was on the Kings with Brown? How the freak is Sean Avery NOT on the list?? He is out of the league entirely now (his contract legitimately expired) and after he was sent home by the Rangers partway through last year, he said he was pretty much retiring (I think it was him who said he threw his skates in the river). If the list is solely active players, he doesn't qualify.

hab29RETIRED
Where are Lucic and Chara? According to that clown Doug Maclean, Chara is an absolute gentleman.
The Chicoutimi Cucumber
According to that clown Doug Maclean, Chara is an absolute gentleman. The lack of meaningful punishment of Chara after his attempted murder (OK, reckless endangerment) of Pacioretty had everything to do with his 'gentlemanly' reputation around the league. Secure in the knowledge that Chara is a swell Joe - after all, with his size he could be wiping guys out every night and chooses not to, right? Therefore he is obviously incapable of ever intending to do anything as radically dangerous as deliberately slamming a kid's face into a steel post, right? - they were relieved of the obligation to consider any facts or any context. E.g.: that Chara had been trying to get Patches for the two games prior; that Patches explicitly said he felt he was a target before the game; that the game was out of reach and therefore a classic scenario for a 'revenge' hit (c.f. Bertuzzi/Moore); that Chara is an elite athlete extremely familiar with that ice surface and therefore 99% likely to have known exactly where he was steering Patches; that the hit was interference and therefore in no sense an instinctual 'hockey play' (i.e., it was a premeditated decision); and that his forearm clearly drives Patches into the stanchion. That's OK, though. Chara's a good guy. Besides, his teammate's dad was responsible for discipline, so that makes him an even better guy. And that punk Pacioretty never should have shoved him after scoring a GWG earlier that year anyway. He deserved it. And if he had been permanently handicapped or killed, which were equally likely outcomes - it's sheer luck he merely suffered a severe concussion and broken neck - well, he would have deserved that too. Just like Crosby deserved to have his arm broken (Cherry) for that stunt goal he pulled in junior and Subban deserves anything he gets for being a mouthy black guy. All part of the sacrosanct Code.
Lammy
This is just my personal opinion, but I have met and spoken with PK when he was with the Hamilton Bulldogs, and my impression of him from that meeting is that he is full of himself with his ego. He thinks that he is the second coming of Bobby Orr and wants nothing to do with the fans who support him. Having said that, however, I will give credit where credit is due. He IS one hell of a hockey player and I am glad that he is with the Habs.

sakiqc
I wish I could vote this up more than once. haha, yeah me too. We should save it somewhere as a reminder of who Chara really is. BTW, that list was written by a single man, a journalist nonetheless! He probably succeeded in whatever objective he had. HabsWorld should publish the list of "the top 10 worst hockey journalists ever". Would surely be a hit.
The Chicoutimi Cucumber
I wish I could vote this up more than once. Thanks. That post really poured out of me. I remain full of outrage, not just about the Patches 'hit' - although I feel that most keenly for obvious reason - but about the NHL's general policy of reckless disregard for player safety. The older I get, the more appalled I become at this casual willingness to ruin people's entire lives unnecessarily. If and when someone dies on the ice, I will never, ever forgive the NHL. It's difficult because as Canadians we are expected to take pride in the Bobby Clarke slash on Kharlamov. For every excuse of "It was a different time", that doesn't excuse the pride of it today. It's ingrained in us to want to see our athletes fight to the death and win at any cost. When the win is over, then we can judge the consequences.
