"Montreal kind of told me to attack the middle; that's where the danger happens. I knew last year I was more of a perimeter player, looking for the pretty plays, but this year I've really tried to work on attacking the middle."

As for what's in store next year: "The ultimate goal is to make Montreal," said Kidney. "I'll be completely fine with Laval – happy. I know I need to work on a few things in my game and I think that's a great spot for me."

Mailloux 1a so far

Rohrer 1g(1)1a so far

Mesar 1g(1) so far

Rangers (Mesar) sweep the division-winning Spitfires (Shane Wright) in four, and London (Mailloux) does the same vs Owen Sound, setting up a Kitchener-London series for the next round.

Speaking of Mailloux, he was London's nominee for OHL Player of the Year.  He stands zero chance of getting it but the nomination is nice.

With Owen Sound out, that frees up Cedrick Guindon to join Laval if the Habs want him to keep skating.

Mailloux vs Mesar is only OHL match-up set yet. Series starts next Thurs.

Roy vs Voltigeurs/Kidney vs Huskies starts Friday.

Will both these guys be in Laval in October? I assumed Mesar would be in OHL for one more year.

Will there be room for Mesar in Laval?  Would he willingly go back to the OHL?  It will be interesting.

After 5-1 & 8-4 beatings, seems Mesar may be swept and season done Tuesday.

Would he play world championship or in Laval?

So what’s the rule with CDN junior Draft+1 players? Do they have to either play in the NHL, or be sent back to junior (like in their draft year)?  I thought that was the case.

I know the rules are different for players developed in Europe, but not sure how it works with a player like Mesar, who went to a CDN Junior league only after being drafted in the NHL. If CDN junior players do have to either play on the NHL in their draft +1 year or be sent back to juniors, is it different from Mesar, since he wasn’t actually developed through the CDN juniors system?

Can he do both? Go to Laval first. If they get knocked out early, go to the World’s?

id rather have him in the world championships, to play against higher competition, but if he can actually help Laval (rather than just ride the pine), it wouldn’t be bad to have him play with our other prospects.

As he was drafted out of Slovakia and not the CHL, the Habs can assign Mesar to Laval next season if they want to.  Not sure they want to but they'll have the option.

That's a tough needle to thread and would need a quick Laval exit.  If the Habs re-assign Mesar to Laval once Kitchener is eliminated, they're not only going to have him go there for a couple of weeks and then go to the Worlds, he'd be there for however long they're in the playoffs for.

As for whether he'd play if assigned to Laval?  I'm not too sure he would.  Houle has made it known before that he's not a fan of playing untested prospects down the stretch and in the playoffs to the point where management had to intervene to get Struble in the lineup after he signed last month.  I think Mesar, or frankly any prospect that gets assigned there, would be in the same situation barring injuries.

Thanks for the clarification regarding his options. I think that if there is no guarantee that he will play, and hhe is picked for the world championship team (which should be a no brainer), than let him play against the higher competition.

This is going to seem a bit odd but it sounds like Luke Tuch will be playing for the US at next month's Worlds.  I didn't see that coming.

Is he likely going back to BU for his senior year?
