(2) Is he worth signing to an ELC now and burning a year? 1) It depends. If he signs an ELC that starts in 23/24, then he can sign an AHL ATO to play for the rest of the season. If he signs an ELC that starts in 22/23, he can't. 2) I think the question is whether it makes the difference. Is he worth burning a year for? Probably not. But is it worth risking losing him if he insists on a deal that starts now? Also probably not so if it came to it, I'd advocate for burning the year to make sure they get him. There is a third option, albeit one we don't see too often. Struble signs a tryout deal with Laval to finish the season and...that's it. That gives both sides time to assess next steps. It's risky as an injury could derail things which is why we don't see it too often but I believe Anaheim might be going that route with one of their college prospects. After the season, the Habs can decide if they want to sign him and Struble can decide whether he wants to sign with the Habs or wait another ~4 months and hit the open market. Coming from college he would be on an ATO. 2) It depends on what else the Habs can sign. We have 47 contracts. Farrell will be 48 and surely is burning a year. Is Struble worth burning a year on? He could be, but depends on what UFAs are looking at the Habs.

Dumbass, he just is gonna be that way it seems? I would of thought (hoped) Habs developments staff would of "encouraged' Mailloux to play whistle to whistle and focus more on hockey and not immature BS. 1991 Kariya, 2015 Eichel...will it be 2023 Hutson being the latest freshman to win the Hobey Baker award?
