The fact he hasn't signed yet suggests he will although perhaps a strong showing here convinces the Habs to sign him.

Do they have to either play in the NHL, or be sent back to junior (like in their draft year)? I thought that was the case. I know the rules are different for players developed in Europe, but not sure how it works with a player like Mesar, who went to a CDN Junior league only after being drafted in the NHL. If CDN junior players do have to either play on the NHL in their draft +1 year or be sent back to juniors, is it different from Mesar, since he wasn’t actually developed through the CDN juniors system? I was not questioning whether he COULD be sent back to the OHL but rather what impact doing so would have on his play/development ... It is not inconceivable he might even prefer to get his AHL salary to play in Trois Rivieres if there wasn't room in Laval.

I didn't see that coming. I wonder if Luke was invited just to get Alex to play?
Habs Fan in Edmonton
Joshua Roy had a decent game today, 3G, 3A , 1st star of game. Now has 18 pts. in 6 playoff games to lead the playoffs in scoring.
DON
Tied 2nd in CHL playoffs. Davidson 2g; 9pts in 6gms Kidney/Roy/Davidson/Mailloux all up 2-0 in 2nd round. 2 games today 2PM; Mailloux vs Mesar game 3 Rohrer vs Beck game 2 "It was a night of records and career-highs across both the QMJHL and WHL, most notably highlighted by Montreal Canadiens prospect Joshua Roy. The Sherbrooke forward set a new franchise record for a playoff game by tallying six points in Phoenix’s 8-1 victory over the Voltigeurs. Although it was Roy’s first career hat trick in the postseason, it was the sixth of his QMJHL career. His six points also matched his career-best and marked a new career-high in the playoffs. Perhaps most impressively, the 19-year-old tallied five of his six points in the third period, including all three of his goals. He is currently riding a 10-game goal streak, having scored 17 over that span. .." https://www.habseyesontheprize.com/montreal-canadiens-news-luke-tuch-usa-world-championship-juraj-slafkovsky-ahl-laval-joshue-roy-playoffs-canada-united-states/

I will help; 61 points in 33 games for Galchenyuk in OHL and how did that play out. My only or biggest question is, is he quick enough to be effective at NHL speed? But, I think he has looked fine in both pre-season camps he has been to.

I agree 100%, he certainly has the skill and the smarts. He is a terrific distributor of the puck. His skating has improved, if it keeps improving he certainly could be a top 6 NHL player. LOL yeah Galchenyuk is a perfect example of reason to keep things in check. One of our most exciting prospects in Roy and similar with Hutson

DON
How different a game is Lane Hutson's from Adam Fox's? Similar projection for Hutson? I just dont pay the Rangers much attention to know their players well, other than he is smaller shifty d-man with Norris trophy under belt. 3-0 London/Mailloux(2shots) over Mesar(0shots) with 10 minutes left in 3rd..fat lady signing and Mesar's OHL season(career?) will end. Beck(4shots)/Petes up 2-1 mid 3rd over Rohrer(1shot) (1a). Denmark 1 Finland 3 (Final) - Friendly Game (Vaasa, Finland) Frederik Dichow - 3 goals on 28 shots

DON
Rohrer vs Beck 4pm; Beck/Petes up 3-1 in series. FWIW and seems about right; Hadi K graded some Habs NA forward prospects seasons; Tuch D+ maybe see how he does in Laval, but not encouraging year or projection Pitlick- C+ Kidney- A thinks will be top 6 Laval next season Roy- B+ Guindon- B- Rohrer- B Mesar- C- should play bigger role and do better in 2nd OHL year Beck- B+ been used as their defensive/faceoff specialist, maybe why offense not high; should likely play a big defensive role on the PK for team canada next world juniors, closest Hab prospect to NHL ready, but should be OHL again 1 more year (on a bad day he is Jack Evans- or 2nd/3rd line on good day, solid safe player). Farrell- A+ he and Slafkovski are the only likely top 6 prospects Habs have, Farrell 'could' be better playmaker than Slick Nick. (so Mr. K is pretty high on Farrell) Also, critical of Slafkovski's/Mesar's not staying in Europe 1 more year. Petteri Nurmi (2022-194th pick overage) got mono at world juniors and was out for 3 months, so hard to judge his development, but Swedish fellow noted Nurmi is solid, disciplined but should try and be more physical.
