dlbalr Posted June 24, 2016 Posted June 24, 2016 Shaw for picks 39/45, Eller for 2nd's in 2017/18. Quote
Meller93 Posted June 24, 2016 Posted June 24, 2016 .... Eller trade, ok I see that. Definitely ok with it. High price for shaw IMO Quote
TurdBurglar Posted June 24, 2016 Posted June 24, 2016 I'm good with these moves. Got a Gallagher-type right handed shooter, 5'11, 179lbs 24 years old. Now we don't look so weak on the right wing. Was told the Fowler for the 9th was practically done earlier. I expect that to be announced soon. Quote
John B Posted June 24, 2016 Posted June 24, 2016 So dumb. Trade a bottom 6 for 2 second round picks in future drafts, acquire a bottom 6 for this year's two lower second round picks. Shaw is going to be more expensive than Eller when he signs. Very, very dumb. Quote
dlbalr Posted June 24, 2016 Author Posted June 24, 2016 Shaw agent, Pat Brisson, says he hopes to have "something done relatively quick" with the Canadiens. He is a restricted free-agent— Elliotte Friedman (@FriedgeHNIC) 24 June 2016 Quote
Meller93 Posted June 24, 2016 Posted June 24, 2016 A bright side is shaw is a little younger. 24 Quote
JGC21 Posted June 24, 2016 Posted June 24, 2016 So now MB needs to sign Shaw to a 5-year/$22.5M deal. Quote
Guest Stogey24 Posted June 24, 2016 Posted June 24, 2016 Why Andrew Shaw? Apparently he wants 4.5 to re sign. I honestly don't really see why we traded for him Quote
BCHabnut Posted June 24, 2016 Posted June 24, 2016 Shaw is an rfa. If his contract is descent, I think this is a great trade. Eller for shaw. Switch around some 2nd round picks. Quote
Habsfan84 Posted June 24, 2016 Posted June 24, 2016 RFAAnd it's been reported he wants 4.5 millionHopefully the this isn't Bergevin's solution to our top 6 problem. The cost that we'll be paying him appears to be. Quote
BCHabnut Posted June 24, 2016 Posted June 24, 2016 At 4.5 million, this is the worst trade in history. Haha Quote
Helmethead Posted June 24, 2016 Posted June 24, 2016 Screw that. I'm happy. Gammel Dansk is gone. All is well. Quote
TurdBurglar Posted June 24, 2016 Posted June 24, 2016 Emelin and Desharnais - on notice. I don't expect anyone will take DD, I would expect him to be bought out this weekend, unless MB can talk someone into taking his contract. If the Fowler for Montreal's 9th does happen. Emelin will be gone before the season starts. Quote
Meller93 Posted June 24, 2016 Posted June 24, 2016 I'm just going to take a moment to say this is why I though Dubois could go ahead of Galchenyuk in the other thread. Quote
TurdBurglar Posted June 24, 2016 Posted June 24, 2016 sportsnet reporting a deal is near done with Shaw, and it's "long term." Quote
The Chicoutimi Cucumber Posted June 24, 2016 Posted June 24, 2016 So, assuming the picks cancel out, we basically trade Eller for a homophobic, young bottom-6 FW with a ton of jam, playing a hard, agitating style that has proven successful in the playoffs. IF the contract is within reason, that seems like a solid move. We've got no shortage of bottom-6 C, so I doubt we'll miss L'il Baby Lars very much. We just got harder to play against. We also addressed a weakness that I identified a little while back, namely the dearth of Cup rings/experience. Quote

dlbalr Posted June 24, 2016 Author Posted June 24, 2016 Here's my quick writeup: http://www.habsworld.net/2016/06/habs-acquire-andrew-shaw-trade-lars-eller-to-washington/ Quote
JGC21 Posted June 24, 2016 Posted June 24, 2016 sportsnet reporting a deal is near done with Shaw, and it's "long term." 8 years @ $4M per? Quote
TurdBurglar Posted June 24, 2016 Posted June 24, 2016 According to that write up, would is be reasonable to believe Shaw would be getting $3.75-$4 per and that is fair? Eller was getting $3.5 so this only increases our cap by $500k Quote
