IMHO, one of the Habs problems this year is that we don't hear them doing a specific play enough.  i.e. stretch pass.  ex:  that was a great stretch pass by RHP to spring Newhook.  They should be doing that numerous times/game.   The good news is that they have numerous prospects that are great at stretch passes that aren't on the Habs yet.  ex:  Hutson, Reinbacher, Mailloux.

So I was thinking to myself before the game that this was as healthy as the Habs were going to be the rest of the way as everyone else that's hurt is out for the season.  That health lasted all of 23 minutes.  That didn't look good for Harvey-Pinard.

47pt in 50 2/3gms for Suzuki, will he get to 82pts?

Slafkovski shown working on his shot this week, paying off, tough angle.

Who is in the pressbox today? Allen, Harris and

Or is a call up happening already?

Gallagher is out until Thursday's game in New York ... no "spare" forwards in the press-box ... unless they plan to go 7D tomorrow, there will be a call-up (or, HUGE long-shot, a PDQ trade) ... but given that The Rocket played last night and will also play later this afternoon, the Habs may not want to ask someone to play three games in slightly less than 48 hours ... so 7D seems like a strong possibility to me.

I like Gignac. Our new Paul Byron?

Certainly has the speed and seems to have the tenacity ... doubt we ever see him approach even mid-teens in goals, let alone the 20 & 22 that Byron managed to pull off.

Condotta didn't play yesterday so it wouldn't be 3-in-3 for him; if they're bringing someone up for tomorrow, it's probably him and then they re-assess for Tuesday.  I think they'd just go 7D and get Harris back in there.

From MSL's post-game

  • Usual stuff ... faced a good team, good effort
  • No news on RHP
  • Jake tomorrow

There's enough news on Harvey-Pinard for them to pull Roy up as they need a roster spot to do so.  That means they know enough about Harvey-Pinard's injury to put him on IR (unless they're doing something with the defence to stay roster-compliant).

Gotta admit, Armia has looked better for awhile.

10 Thoughts: Stars edge Habs 3-2, Harvey-Pinard is injured – HabsWorld.net

Third Star: Joel Armia (0g, 0a, 3 shots, 18:27 TOI) has been a changed man after his stint in Laval, and his play has earned him the confidence of Martin St. Louis, too, with over 17 minutes of ice time in each of the last four games. He had a great short-handed opportunity in the second that might have changed the outcome of the game, had he been able to get a good shot off on Oettinger.

It makes you wonder....had he just become too complacent, and the Laval stint woke him up? 🤷‍♂️

Some kind of wake-up, for sure. This is what Arpon Basu wrote in a recent article on The Athletic:

Quote

For a veteran who had to start the season in the AHL and went unclaimed on waivers to allow the Canadiens to do that, this is an incredible accomplishment. Armia is not an outgoing type, he will never be a good quote or look all that engaged on camera, but talk to any of his teammates and they will tell the story of an intensely competitive and proud athlete, one who burns to succeed and can sometimes allow that intense pride and competitiveness to get the better of him. For him to overcome the intense disappointment he experienced earlier this season to be as “consistently visible” as he’s been is vitally important for the Canadiens.
