  1. Referees for the 'Dollar Bill’s Discount Money Lenders North Division' as CC so eloquently put it: Kendrick Nicholson Brad Meier Eric Furlatt Kevin Pollock Marc Joannette Graham Skilliter Chris Schlenker Mitch Dunning* Michael Markovic* Corey Syvret* *-AHL referees There's also a list of linesmen that will be restricted to North Division duty but I wanted to mention the referees at least so everyone could rejoice in not seeing Chris Lee's name on there.

  6. Really? I thought it was a bad luck play on the tying goal. Had it not hit the ref, there wouldn't have been a goal. Also, Drouin did get two assists in this game...I wouldn't qualify that as a POS, but that's just me. Don't get me wrong, never been a huge fan of Drouin, but i thought he played a decent game yesterday, that's why i'm a little surprised by your assessment of his game last night!

  9. Watched on PVR, fun to watch. The Habs can score and after the VAN game Saturday they will have multiple practices to lock down their defensive game « Steam rolling » 4 lines is going to be a joy to watch all season Now, let’s bring on the caretaker crew for Saturday game and let’s put the Canuck’s team in the dumpster

  12. I think Allen would be more than capable of handling them for a game, annoyed or not Also, it would keep Price fresh and ready to play two games out of three in Vancouver if not, then what was the point of signing Allen

  13. Its been two games. Two games that the team played pretty well. Id give a guy who is new to the team plenty of time to adjust to new linemates before we start juggling the lines. We didnt even have exhibition games this year.

  14. Ice time for the defence: Chiarot: 23:04 Weber: 21:59 Petry: 21:36 Edmundson: 21:26 Romanov: 15:49 Kulak: 14:38 I like seeing someone other than Weber at the top and those are certainly manageable minutes. A couple minutes more for the third pairing would have been ideal given that the game was basically over in the second period but that's just me nitpicking. Good balance up front as well - Toffoli led with 17:21, Evans was last at 12:31.

  15. So the Habs can get Dubois without losing a long-term core player and Danault gets a steep overpayment? There's no possible way Columbus could justify doing that. Again, if I'm Jarmo Kekalainen, the simple demand of Bergevin is as follows - one of Suzuki or Kotkaniemi has to be in the deal. If that doesn't happen, there's no reason whatsoever for Columbus to consider dealing Dubois to Montreal. Dubois is their number one centre. As Montreal fans, we can't say that Danault shouldn't be the number one in Montreal but hey, he could easily fill that role in Columbus and

  16. Ì No he doesnt. Petry and Kulak with both taking turns pushing the offence was the best D pair in the NHL over 2 seasons

  17. Would you accept a rental centre, an overpaid winger, and a second-round pick for Kotkaniemi? That's basically what you're proposing Columbus do, trade their top centre (a somewhat-recent top-five pick) for not a whole lot of value here. I don't think you'd be happy if Bergevin did that; similarly, Columbus would rightfully be skewered if they did that trade.

  20. If im columbus thats a no. You have to.gove up something that will hurt to.give up. Just throwing in leskinen and 2nd round picks does nothing. 24 year old AHL defencemen who cant play in the NHL are a dime a dozen. Quantity does not replace quality

  23. Nothing too exciting in the presser. Don't expect any other signings from the Habs and expect a lot of daily transactions for salary cap flexibility. A quick summary of the highlights: https://www.habsworld.net/2021/01/notes-from-marc-bergevins-press-conference/

  24. Great to be on board. Been a Habs fan ever since they took down the big bad Bruins in 1971... grew up outside of Hershey and was a regular at some great AHL games back then and saw a lot of the “young” Canadiens play for Nova Scotia. Bears vs. Voyager games were as intense as Bruins vs. Canadien games. Quite a few bench emptying brawls. Those 1975-79 Canadian teams were the best I’ve ever seen! Lived in Boston’s North End from 1986-1990 and always went to Bruin games with company tix. Nothing like the old Gawden! Oh those Bruin vs. Canadiens games never disappointed! Hosted the 89-90

  25. Not sure why this deal is baffling. Frolik is a veteran depth guy that will be part of the taxi squad and enable one of the young forwards to get playing time in Laval. In case of a string of injuries, he *might* provide viable NHL depth. This is a cheap insurance deal and good for the development of our young players. Some times a depth move is just a depth move and not a pre-cursor to a bigger trade.

  26. Speaks well of the young man ... especially for an 18 yr-old ... although most (2/3 - 3/4) of the team are 2021 or 2022 draft eligible

  27. I’ve also never agreed with the intent to injure rule. It should be regarded like high sticking. If the player was in control of their actions, like Myers last night, it should be suspendable. If Myers was tripped and while falling he concussed Armia, he wasn’t in control of his actions therefore no suspension. Would take all the grey area out of intent to injure.

  36. Good post. You have to put yourself in the other team’s shoes. If the Habs had Dubois, the fabled young and skilled #1C with size, and he wanted out, would we *possibly* accept Danault/Drouin in return? No. In fact, we would string Bergevin up from yardarm if he did that - selling out the franchise cornerstone for a two-way 50-point C due for a big raise, and an erratic 55-point winger who has not once in five seasons shown himself to be a player to count on. Frankly, I am surprised by the KK rumours. If I were CBJ, I would insist on Suzuki, period. I like KK, I am cautiously optim

  38. Love our lineup and line combos as is listed above. Pretty much what I would choose if given opportunity. Leafs are one of the few teams that are also four lines deep so this will be a big test right out of the gates. Prediction: Leafs come out flying, Price stands tall. Habs weather the storm, gradually take over flow of play and win 4-2 with an empty netter. Tatar opens scoring for habs.

  41. And trading either Danault+Drouin or Kotkaniemi+Drouin introduces a significant hole on the left side of our forward corps. Even if you are not a Drouin fan, the reality is that we don't have anyone to step in and take over. Byron is not the answer.

  42. Wow, the States have our number. Four straight wins over us in the Gold medal game. Kept us to the outside the whole time, even after Canada started coming on strong. At one point the shots were 19-10 for the USA - they finished 34-21 for Canada. Once again my perpetual nitpick - not having the sixth attacker on the ice for the faceoff with two minutes left. He should be out there to secure the puck, we shouldn't wait for a faceoff win before sending him out.

  43. +1 Habsfan I’m pumped AF PP LINES day 2 Weber, Petry, Drouin, Toffoli, Suzuki Romanov, Tatar, Gallagher, Anderson , KK THAT IS A MASSIVE UPGRADE

  44. Danault isn't a 3C though. He's going to continue to play the most minutes (or second most) of the centres every game for the simple reason that he is used against the other team's top line and the other team will play their top line the most minutes. He also is going to be the number 1 PK unit. So his usage doesn't scream #3 C. Add to that, his production 5v5 is right there with anyone not named McDavid, Draisaitl, MacKinnon while doing that job. And yes, he doesn't have the PP points, so thats a discount.... but $6 million a season is not out of the question
